Hey everyone,
I’m currently in the market for a weekend fun car (€30k–€50k budget) and I’ve pretty much settled on getting a 8V.2 RS3 with the DAZA engine.
However, whenever I ask around on general car subreddits or talk to other car guys, I get the exact same pushback every single time:
"Get an M2 Competition!"
"Get a Mustang GT!"
"The RS3 is boring, it understeers, it's just a glorified Golf with a nice engine note, 0-60 merchant, zero driver engagement..."
Honestly, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I'm 27yo, I've driven rear-wheel-drive cars my whole life, but I have zero desire to go slide around light poles, drift on public roads, or sweat bullets on a wet highway worrying about the rear end snapping out. I don't care about lap times or parking lot drift sessions.
For me, the RS3 seems like the absolute sweet spot:
The 5-cylinder DAZA sound – legendary 1-2-4-5-3 firing order, raw emotion, and a piece of motorsport history that will never be made again.
Quattro stability & confidence: I want to step on the gas, hear that insane 5-cylinder roar, launch like a rocket, and stay glued to the road regardless of whether it's dry or raining, all without needing race-driver reflexes to survive a corner.
Presence & daily capability: Looks mean, sounds ridiculous, but keeps you totally relaxed behind the wheel.
Are these guys on other subs just obsessed with sideways "fun" and track stelling, or am I missing something? Please be honest!
For those of you who actually own or have owned a DAZA RS3: how has the ownership experience been? Does the Quattro + sound combo get old, or is it as satisfying long-term as I think it is?
Would love to hear real feedback from people who actually drive them!
