I take the freeways to and from work almost every single day, and it always blows my mind how many people without any passengers just speed past me in the carpool lane. And I’m not talking exempt or EV cars either, I’m talking G-Wagons, old Corollas, a minivan, you name it. I’ve lived in LA my whole life, but when did this become a thing? Is it just some sort of unspoken rule or so loosely enforced now?

Spending a few days in LA! What are your must visit spots?
I’ll be in LA for a few days and want to make the most of my time! I’m not against popular places, but I’d rather visit somewhere that’s genuinely good or has something special about it than somewhere that’s popular just for the sake of it. I’ve never been to Erewhon, but traveling to LA to visit a grocery store just isn’t my thing.
Here are some things I love:
Classic Hollywood: Historic restaurants, legendary hotels, old movie theaters, vintage neon and Hollywood history.
Mid Century LA: Googie architecture, retro diners, vintage coffee shops, modernist homes and classic California design.
Tiki: I’m considering Tiki Ti and Tonga Hut! Is one better than the other? Any other must visits?
Disney: I’ll be visiting Disneyland afterward, but are there any other Disney related spots worth checking out around LA?
Christmas: Any year round Christmas shops, decorations or festive spots?
Coffee: Cool coffee shops, especially vintage or retro ones!
Food and hidden gems: Old school Italian, classic diners, historic food institutions and interesting places with a story to tell.
I’d love recommendations from locals or people who really know LA! I’m especially interested in places that have a unique character or a bit of history behind them.
Thanks so much!

Went with a group of 6 friends to a local restaurant for lunch. The restaurant was entirely empty and the server asked if we had reservations... we said no and the server paused and had this weird look. Then asked us again and we still replied no. He then sat us at a table but definitely did so reluctantly.
Is "reservations" code for something? Or he just didn't want us to be there?! This restaurant can hold at least 40 ppl so felt really weird to have this interaction given it was completely empty mid day.

Just as the post says. I've seen so many drivers wait until the light turns yellow almost red before pulling into the intersection to make a left turn which causes everyone behind to basically run a red light momentarily. How many people do this? I've only seen this happen in California

I was laid off middle of last year and have been looking for work since then (prefer West LA as I’m in suburbs more into TO). I slowed down a bit while I finished my MBA earlier this year. I never had trouble getting a job before I lost my previous job (small tech startup). Now, I get constant no’s. I’m exhausted. I run every single thing through AI to make sure it will all pass ATS, that there aren’t any mistakes, etc. I tailor each resume and cover letter to the job I’m applying for. I’ve created work samples and a portfolio site. I will put tiny little details from the deepest depths of their websites or socials to show I’ve done research.
I’m going insane! I need a job so bad. I need health insurance. My husband is a vet and I need to help support him too and he’s getting tired of hearing “I’m still looking…”
I KNOW I’m not alone in this but it’s making me stressed as hell and not sure what to do?? I started with jobs I obviously would want to further my career, but have been applying to literally anything now. I got turned down by a GM job and a part-time admin job…that I don’t even want but I’m desperate!
I guess can anyone give tips or advice, something I’m missing? Better place to find jobs? I have an agent scan every morning for jobs that are good fits and then I search myself on BuiltIn, Handshake (from when I was in graduate school), LinkedIn, Indeed, general google searches and just going to companies sites that I’m interested in.
Thanks for your time🙏

Hello everyone I live nearish the cemetery. I was thinking of posting up at a fence / wall and listening to the Geese show. I am too poor for a ticket and getting serious fomo. Really I just wanna hear Au Pays Du Cocaine super bad.
I know there are some venues worldwide you can get a good sound from outside, I figured this might be one as it's a cemetery with fences. Any thoughts?

Hello!
I am 30F attending the charli xcx concert alone. I’m a little anxious about getting a ride back to my hotel after the concert. i’ve read that it’s best to walk a little ways away from the arena, but as i’m a female and will be alone that sounds a little bit intimidating. I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion on a restaurant or store to walk to that’s a well lit path where I can wait for my uber? If I need to I will leave the concert early to try and beat the rush but i’d rather not do that. Appreciate any tips!

Hi! I’m looking for ideas of places to buy physically small gifts under $10 in Los Angeles.
Every year I make some friends and family members custom advent calendars. I’ve been doing this for almost 20 years and I need some new ideas! The usual stores I hit are:
- Tokyo Central
- Surfas
- Blick
- Cost Plus
- H mart
- Daiso
- Fair Oaks Pharmacy
- Monsieur Marcel
- Whole Foods / TJs
I’m looking for unique little items, mostly fun snacks, but also stuff like washi tape and post-its. They’re made of 25 little boxes, so the price has to stay reasonable.
Do you know of a good place? All ideas would be very welcome! Many thanks!
Ps. I’m located in mid-city but happy to drive anywhere in the county.

I got these BEAUTIFUL eyebrows microbladed on my face about 4 years ago. They have held up so nicely and i’m still in love with them OTHER than the fact that i think they’re a touch too long. When i first got them done, i remember thinking i should probably ask to make them a touch shorter than where my natural brows go. I ended up keeping them longer bc i figured this is what probably suits me best since it follows my natural hairs. Anyways, I want to laser off like one little portion of the tail end where i pluck my brows. Every place I call is telling me i need to do the whole thing, but i feel like it can be done somewhere??? I love my brows so much and my artist did such an amazing job. It’s no fault of hers that the length doesn’t suit me. I agreed to the initial stencil!! I just wanted to know if anybody knew a spot where I can just laser the ends of it off.

Has anyone been an election worker here? It says we can work for 10 days, and up to $1180 (non county worker price). But that means roughly $100 a day, how many hours do you work? There is no hourly pay written on the LA County site, so I’m confused. I hope this does not mean working 10 hour days for $100😭

I usually get my partner a cute mug and a fancy hot cocoa mix when the seasons change. Where’s your favorite from?

Can My LA Beachfront Photographers Do A Small Favor?
Right now the moon is hovering over clear skies and black water. It looks amazing. My smartphone is not doing it justice.
I'm hoping someone else sees it too and maybe has a DSLR or decent Point and Shoot.
Would love to have a cool pic of it.
It just looks so cool right now.
Thanks for reading have a good night.

Have any of you used a deep cleaning service you were really happy with? I need one that can come to Venice, is reasonably priced, and will do a really thorough deep clean before I move into my new place. Thank you in advance for your recommendations!

are there any bigger-scale halloweekend parties in LA? my bf and i moved to la in feb, we’re from the east coast & we’re used to NYC halloween- last year we went to a transformed courthouse & a vampire ball (think multi-floor transformed warehouse blood-rave lol) & i think the year before it was a transformed multi-floor hotel. looking for something to that effect if there even is an equivalent bc i have no clue. considered escape halloween bc we love raving too but kinda nervous to get my phone stolen or car window broken into lol. also thought about the weho event but i don’t wanna stand in the street all night seems kinda meh. don’t mind driving far. also we’re both 25

Hi All,
My mechanic ship up shot and sold the building! yay for him.
It leaves me in the position where I don't know anyone else in the neighborhood who is trustworthy.
I'm wondering if anyone has a spot that they feel is reliable and trustworthy?
I'm specially looking for a spot that works on suspension.

Yay (/s), USPS delivered our health insurance renewal docs today. We have the bronze blue shield ppo though Covered CA. Going up again this year by $235.16 per month for a grand total of $2038/month for the 3 of us, including dental. Ugh. Where's everyone else at?

I accidentally put my birthday (🙄) instead of today’s date when I signed my ballot.
I read an article (but couldn’t find anything official) on LAist that said it’s fine- and to just cross out the date and that they’re not really paying attention to the date anyway.
But I’m still a little concerned. Anyone made this mistake before? Am I good to put it in the ballot box? Or should I wait for early voting to open and take care of it there in person?

I f(28) will be coming to Hollywood tomorrow through Monday to see Miley Cyrus at Hollywood bowl. I am looking for fun, quirky things to do that aren’t normal touristy things. I do have a car. I would also like to take myself out and dress up in a nice, fancy dress and heels. What places do you recommend? Are there any events locals know of for this weekend? I love live music (more into emo music) cool shops, art, and people watching. The concerts are Friday night and Sunday night so I am free otherwise.

Does anyone know if the parking structure at 3600 Whilshire is still open? Online it says the " Wilshire & Nara Financial Center/BBCN " is temporary closed does that apply to the garage too or just the building ? Has anyone parked there in the past few weeks? On Parkopedia it says it's a flat rate of $7.99 after 5pm so I just wanna make sure it's open if not I do want to try to save myself $20 by parking elsewhere and not the Ralph's parking lot that charges $30-35.
I also read there is a building, Equitable Plaza that charges about $8 but that seems like a walk (14 min walk) so something closer would be nicer.
Any help would be appreciated

Looking for a spot near Century City to catch the beginning of the Ohio State game before seeing a movie at AMC! Any recommendations for a place that’ll be open at 9am on Saturdays? In the mall would be ideal; but a short drive isn’t too bad either.
