I'm crying... my betta gave me a hug for the first time!! Im seriously filled with a lot of emotion over this lol.

Whenever I used to stick my finger in the tank, he'd swim away or ignore me and I thought he wasn't the kind of betta to be affectionate.

I recently went on a trip and my friend was watching him for a few days. When I got back earlier this week, I'd never seen him so excited to see me! Now he's hugging me:') I guess he does love me after all <33

Advice Needed Is a fluval 307 & a fx4 too much filtration for a 75 gallon

Post image
38 Upvotes

Just upgraded my 55 gallon to a 75 gallon. Bought the thing off facebook marketplace for $175. Came with tank, stand, light, driftwood, fish, plants, supplies, etc, but most importantly an fx4 filter. I was already running a 307 on my 55 gallon. I always thought theres no such thing as too much filtration but Google says an fx4 and a 307 could be too much for a 75 gallon. Is that accurate information or should I just run both filters?

DIY/Build An Ambitious Experiment: Utilizing Tank Tech

Another DIY project in the books

I wasn’t happy with how the original aquaponics system laid out with the new pond, thus I had to change it.

While strolling through the hardware store, they had these replacement windows for dirt cheap, thought it’d be a perfect opportunity to build a diy aquarium by utilizing the water flow from the pond.

Roughly 17 gal, includes a dual French drain outlet and 6 places to plant terrestrials. I will be using it as Amano shrimp overflow. I decided to keep my chubs in the pond, so the new shrimp overflow tank should provide them with extra protein as the shrimp figure out how to travel down the system.

I’m also playing around with the idea of placing bio balls and an air pump in there to make one of those moving bed filters. But I like the idea of shrimp overflow better

Craftsmanship isn’t that great but oh well, let me know what you think, and as always, thanks for the love and support!

So a chick told me that these catfishes were harmless and chill, and to get it for a goldfish tank.

I just got home from work to see 1 gold fish dead. And 1 with missing scales and ripped tail and dorsal fin.

Ive isolated the gold fish. Hes in a small box thats made for fish who live birth.

Idk what to do with the catfish? Dad has a bigger community tank but im worried itll go for his fish too.

What can i do to help my goldfish and heal his scales?

Advice is needed thank you.

Showing Off My Tank Evil EBA

Post image

My electric blue acara during the day is completely peaceful and happy in his community tank, but every single morning around 4am when I turn my bedroom lights on to get ready for work he starts viciously attacking fish in the tank. For some reason he goes absolutely insane and starts trying to eat fish that he isn’t even able to fit into his mouth. I am regularly finding mauled fish he attempts to eat but fails. I believe he uses the fact that most of the fish in the tank are asleep but it’s weird that he wakes up almost immediately when I turn the rooms lights on despite the tank still be dark. It’s gotten to the point where I’m getting dressed in the dark so he doesn’t go into a frenzy. I thought EBA were peaceful community fish, anyone else experience this level of aggression?

Just wanted to show people how much my little dalmatian molly changed since I got her 😄. She went from half/half to completely black!

A couple weeks after I brought her home and introduced her to the tank, she had babies! The last picture is the one baby I decided to keep, swimming next to mama.

I'm so happy to not have to see these two after today. I've had to dismantle my planted driftwood tank over the past two days in order to catch these aggressive assholes. I made an impulse by one day, two "tiny" "peaceful" algae eaters. Well, learn from my, and many others mistake. Don't. Impulse. Buy. They suck

Advice Needed Is my fish fat

Ive had this black neon tetra for over a year now and he’s always been on the chunkier side. After I added several new black neon tetra friends, he’s gotten even fatter. I don’t usually see him actively eating a whole lot even from the start and when he does, it’s in normal portions I think. Is he a she? And is she pregnant if anything? Or constipated?

Last night i noticed a small white spot on his fin. I moved him to a hospital tank. Today this is what he looks like. Im going to go into town and get api fin and body cure or erythromycin. but the local shops don’t stock medications beyond that. The tank he came from i noticed a few fish with white lips aswell. Any and all advice would be much appreciated.

Discussion Glad I put a leak sensor under my aquarium

Post image
12 Upvotes

Saturday morning I woke up to a leak alarm from my xsense leak sensor. I checked the aquarium and found a loose fitting on my canister filter. There was already a decent amount of water sitting inside the stand.

Luckily I caught it early enough to shut the filter off and clean everything up before it got worse. If I slept for another couple of hours, I’m sure the cabinet and floor would’ve taken a much bigger hit. After that I added another leak sensor next to the canister filter and one more inside the bottom of the stand.

I used to think leak sensors were one of those nice to have things. I definitely don’t anymore. If you keep an aquarium, especially one with a canister filter, I’d seriously recommend putting one somewhere water would collect first. It’s cheap peace of mind compared with finding a flooded cabinet later.

Advice Needed What are these appendages on my ramshorn snail?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just noticed these things on the body of my ramshorn snail. It lives in a micro-bowl with some Caridina shrimp.

Are they parasites? Do they cause any major harm to my snail or shrimp? If they can coexist and are just a minor annoyance, I would prefer not to treat the bowl because of the small water volume.

The snail and shrimp are behaving normally and racing through the bowl. :)

He has swam like that since day one. He only swims in that part of the tank. He will respond to food and then return to this. He also almost constantly spars with other males when they are close.

You do you bro.
