I don't have a picture because they were found while tearing the tank down, but my tequila goodeid dropped her fry a few weeks ago. I looked and looked and never saw them, so I assumed they got eaten.

Tonight while tearing down my 75, we found FIVE babies!!!! I am SO EXCITED!!!

Just made this. Thought it was cool and wanted to share. Planning on scaping it tomorrow, but wanted to test the system and make sure it worked. It was pretty cheap to create and the unidirectional flow is something I've always wanted in a tank. Putting my sculpin in it once it's finished.

Decided to set up a 20 gallon long aquarium in my office. It’s been up and cycling for about 4 days now, and I’m planning to keep it fishless until it’s ready.
I built a rock cave because I liked the idea of having a Bristlenose pleco living in it, but now I’m debating between that and a group of Kuhli loaches. I’d like something that uses the cave but also comes out and explores.
I’m definitely planning to add more plants.

As far as stocking goes, I’m thinking 8–10 galaxy rasboras, 2–3 sparkling gouramis, and either the pleco or Kuhlis. Maybe a snail and some shrimp eventually too.

Still pretty new to all of this, so I’m open to suggestions. Curious what everyone thinks about the stocking ideas, plants, or anything else I should consider.
Thanks!

Silly me opened the lid of my tank today. I found him not very wet 2 centimetres away from my tank. I quickly put him in water then put him back in the tank. Dwarf Chain loaches hard to get in my area and I really love my group of loaches. I don't want to lose him. Will he make it?

Advice Needed Beginner - First time cycling a new tank

Hello! As the title suggests, I am a beginner. I recently setup a tank for my son and am in the process of performing a fishless cycle before adding any fish to the tank. It is a ten gallon tank that we are hoping to house a small community including one mystery snail, a few shrimp and small schooling fish.

We set up the tank on Saturday and it was pretty cloudy (first picture) That cleared up by the next day, Sunday (second picture). On Monday we started adding Dr Tim’s Ammonium Chloride and Seachem Stability according to the instructions.

Today (third picture) I noticed the tank getting cloudier and also some weird strings on our plants. There is also an odd, brown spot that has popped up in the sand. Any insights as to what that is?

I am dosing daily with Stability according to the labels instructions since the ammonia hasn’t dropped yet. How long til I should start to see some nitrites? Do my numbers from today look accurate based on the picture? Or am I just color blind?

I know we are just at the beginning stage of the process but any guidance is appreciated. I added photos of my readings from today and also included a table of the readings from the past three days.

Medical Help Betta sucked into syphon, what do I do? Spoiler

I was doing a water change on my 6 gallon and my betta, Petrova, literally got a case of the zoomies and swam into the intake before I could pull it away and he got stuck in the syphon

It descaled his head which is manageable but when I took a closer look his right fin is quite literally half way detached at his body- genuinely what do I do? He's still alive and responsive- his right fin can't move. It's just a hole there. He literally JUST recovered from a gill infection and fin rot

What do I do? I don't want him to suffer but if he can recover I want to help him. I can't afford a vet right now- I'm on disability and won't see any payback from my job until about 5-7 weeks from now

He's still breaking and swimming.. I don't know what to do but I love him and I'm freaked out

Advice Needed Wife knocked over my 10 gallon tank

VERY lucky that it landed on a couch and doesn't appear to be damaged, but I did notice some water along the bottom edge in the plastic cover. I dried it best I could but it's still there. Is there a way to tell if it's leaking from there?

Also the filter broke apart and she left the medium in the tank until I got back and took it out, about two hours. The water was brown. So far one fish and two shrimp are missing. We didn't see any on the couch or floor so hopefully they're just hiding.

Is there anything I should watch out for or do to help? I did a half water change but it's the middle of the night and the light fixture is broken so I can't see anything until tomorrow when it's daylight.

Medical Help Petrova update

Just a small update as I don't have much right now.

I found a paper with instructions for salt measurements for intense treatment from when I took my last betta to the vet. So currently Petrova is in a 3 gallon hospital tank but with only a gallon of water and he has aquarium salt, methylene blue (recommended amount for long term hospitalizations), and I have tannins depositing but I don't have much that will deposit however I ordered more almond leafs and a thermometer that will be here at 8am tomorrow morning (I forgot my last one broke :') ). He's also got a heater and a clean sponge filter in the tank because I am out of air stones too but the tank needs to be oxygenated since methylene blue eats up oxygen and I don't want him to have to fight for anything.

As for his behavior he's pretty still- he's sitting on a leaf at the surface which is exactly what I want him to do. He has swam a bit and seems to be handling that well though I can tell the loss of his fin makes turning a bit more difficult

My hope is that he recovers. I have had absolutely no issues with classic betta genetics like I have with many Bettas before and he's only ever had a small fungal infection which he healed from quickly. He's a resilient little guy. But I'm hoping the lack of issues I have had this far will mean he recovers

Best case scenario is the hole where his fin was fills up and the fin dies and falls off so there isn't large risk of infection. If I need to get him to a vet I can and will find a way but for now it's going to be a sit and watch game because moving him around too much will stress him more and I absolutely refuse to do that to him. Hopefully he pulls through the night and I can get a better grasp of how we'll be looking tomorrow and how recovery may go.

For now this is how he's looking and I hope he recovers

Put up an ad on fb marketplace looking for a new saltwater tank to jump into that side of the hobby since I have a few planted freshwater tanks and got answered by an older gentleman within 30mins for a 50 gal AIO acrylic tank (not leaking had water in it when I picked it up) stand, lights, pumps, wave makers, skimmer, controllers, media ect ect. I think it’s literally everything besides the substrate, fish, and food all for 85$ on easily $1000+ worth of equipment that all works from my testing so far. Obviously the tank needs cleaning but it’s in great shape, the stand could use some paint but it’s also in good shape no visible bowing as I could tell, and so is all the equipment besides a quick cleaning was a really cool guy a super knowledgeable had 15-20 full planted and cichlid tanks inside his home I wonder why he was giving up on this one 🤯

My dad has had this tank for years and I've decided to set it up. What do you think of it? Currently experiencing a peak in nitrites so I'm waiting for it to drop before putting fishes in. What type of species do you suggest?

I got sold 2 of these "amano" shrimp but I can't tell if it's an amano or not... it's about the same size as a small cherry shrimp. I think it might be a wild type cherry shrimp that they sent to me instead a small amano.

I have a new tank created DIY 30X11X16 inches fish tank on 6mm glass showing slight bowing what to do ?

I lowered the water by 2 inches and the bowing reduced, but wanted to confirm if this would be a problem ?

Bottom glass is 8 mm toughned and rest is 6 mm. I am in a dilemma to validate on whether should I start aquascaping.
