Hi everyone,
I have issues with my computer, since i changed the graphics card from a 3060TI, to an RX9070XT, december last year. So close to a year ago.
The issue, and it happens alot. The computer reboots (crashes with a memory dump), when it's idle and the displays are off (I have 3 monitors).
The specs of the PC:
- CPU: Intel i5-13600K (BIOS updated with the latest microcode fixes โ 0x12B/0x12F)
- GPU: ASUS TUF Gaming Radeon RX 9070 XT OC Edition
- RAM: 32GB DDR5 @ 6400 MT/s
- PSU: Seasonic SS-760XP2 (2020, ~6 years old, 760W)
- OS: Windows 11 24H2 (build 26100)
- Driver: Latest Adrenalin (multiple versions tested)
It never crashes when it's actively being used. So nothing under gaming or any 3d work.
I've used windbg to analyse the crash dump, and then gotten AI to summarize it for me, and it has come up with this:
Crash technical details (WinDbg, !analyze -v on MEMORY.DMP):
INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR (a0)
The power policy manager experienced a fatal error.

Interpretation:
Windows' Power Framework (PoFx) dispatches a runtime idle-state transition to the GPU via dxgkrnl!DxgkPowerRuntimeComponentIdleStateCallback. The AMD kernel-mode display driver (amdkmdag.sys) enters the callback and blocks indefinitely โ notably with a KeStallExecutionProcessor busy-wait near the top of the stack. The PoFx watchdog detects the blocked work order and triggers bugcheck 0xA0 (subcode 0x618: power worker thread blocked too long), followed by a controlled reboot.
Crashes occur exclusively when transitioning to idle (displays going to sleep) โ never under load (games, OCCT, benchmarks all stable). No WHEA errors, no Cache Hierarchy Errors, ruling out the known 13th/14th Gen Raptor Lake degradation signature. Complete MEMORY.DMP written at crash time, ruling out sudden power loss (PSU). Occurs across multiple Adrenalin driver versions (clean DDU installs)
Has anyone else experienced similar with an AMD card ? And potentially found a solution ?
I've tried to disable as much as possible regarding low power states. But nothing seems to help.
I could potentially fix it by just never letting the computer turn off the monitors. But it's oled, so I would very much like to avoid that.
I'm considering RMA'ing the card, but it's a bit of a hassle since i don't have a spare card i can use.
