On the game-type menu, ALL-STAR is now FRANCHISE. (The Home Run Derby is still there, under it.) • Pick a club and a season length (FULL, MEDIUM or SHORT) and play the season, with today's divisions, the 1.5 schedules, standings and playoffs. • After the World Series comes the off-season. Every player ages a year. Young players improve, stars peak in their late twenties, and veterans decline, each at his own pace. • Veterans retire. Each club calls up its real minor-league prospects: 300 of them, ten per club, from Triple-A, Double-A and High-A, rated from their 2026 minor-league seasons. The Yankees' George Lombard Jr., the Mariners' Lazaro Montes and the rest come up when there's a spot. When a club runs out of prospects, new young players arrive. • Team strengths follow the rosters, so a club that loses its stars falls back and a club whose prospects hit rises. • The OFF-SEASON report shows your club's retirements and call-ups, how many players retired around the league, and the champions of past seasons. • FRANCHISE, CONTINUE SEASON picks up your season, or starts the next one at team select. You can switch clubs between seasons.
QUICK-SIM Hold SELECT and press A on Today's Game's PLAY icon to simulate your game, the way the rest of the league's games are played. Your rotation still turns over. A whole SHORT season sims in a few minutes, so you can watch a decade go by in an evening or play the games that matter.
PLAYER CARDS From the second season on, player cards show a stat line that fits each player's current ratings. A slugger who's slipping shows it.
HOW IT WORKS • The league plays forward from the real 2026 rosters. Every player has a hidden peak and a growth or decline rate. Each off-season, ratings are re-ranked across the league on the 1994 game's own scale, so the league stays balanced: in long test runs no club runs away with it and none collapses. • Retirement follows age, with stars hanging on a little longer and struggling veterans leaving sooner. About 35 to 70 players retire a year. • Everything fits in the cartridge's original 8 KB battery save, in space the game reserved for edited player names (which this mod hasn't used since 1.0). Your 1.5 Season save carries over, and a franchise is saved separately from a regular Season.
WHAT IT DOESN'T DO (YET) No trades or free agency: players stay with their clubs until they retire. A franchise starts from today's clubs; a 1994 start would be a fun next step. Tell me what you'd want most.
