I've noticed a few times the same games on PS5 will have surround sound support and the PC versions don't. Also if they do, you have to remember to install the software to actually output it... As well as configure it.
I have a sweet Dolby Atmos setup with dual subs, overhead speakers, massive towers and all, and many PC games in comparison to the console versions sound terrible when connected to my receiver (even if they are technically outputting Atmos, it sounds like simulated vs actually using the codec.
Has anyone else experienced this? Remember when many motherboards would actually have surround sound outputs? What happened?
The SATA and power cable is definitely connected, other than that I haven't checked anything else. I even tried a different port for the SATA on the MOBO but that was not the problem. My motherboard is the B450m DS3H v2 .
Sorry I wasn't really sure where to post this, but I have a Gamesir G7 HE and Vadar 5s wired controllers. The ten or so foot long cables they game with are just barely long enough to reach my couch when I hook my pc up to my TV (or use my Xbox). So I was debating about buying a roughly 16ft USB cable. Will this length be ok or will the distance require an active USB cord to prevent any signal loss / connection issues?
So in the last week I had a co worker give me a couple of computers that she no longer uses. Two older laptops and a HP all in one. Nothing crazy. Nothing that would run Windows 11 without some workarounds with the installer.
However later in the week another older lady that I used to work with at a previous job happened to see me and we got to catching up. I had helped her with some computer and phone issues in the past so before we parted ways she mentioned that she had a laptop that she no longer had a use for and asked if I wanted it. Of course I said yes.
After work I headed over to her house to pick up the computer. To my amazement she handed me a ACER NITRO 5! The laptop is more than 5 years old, but it has pretty nice specs. A 9th gen core i5, 8 gigs of ram, 128gb nvme ssd and a GTX 1650 GPU.
Opening up the laptop I saw that i had an open ram slot and a second nvme slot. Remembering the HP all in one from earlier in the week it occurred to me that although the HP could not run Windows 11, it did have a 4GB ram stick and another 128GB nvme ssd that would fit in the Acer.
So I opened the HP, salvaged the ram and storage, plugged them into the Nitro and viola! Now the laptop has 12GB of DDR4 Ram and 256GB of NVME storage! I also took the time to take apart the laptop, clean the fans and heatsink, apply new thermal paste and install Windows 11. There is also a spot of a 2.5 inch drive as well as a backlit keyboard.
It works perfectly! Even the battery still works. Best of all the whole thing was free. I just wanted to make this post to remind people that sometimes it pays to help people with technology or let them know you are into computers. You never know what may come of it.
hi guys, i have a high gpu fb usage for my laptop gpu the rtx 3050 while not opening any thing, no browser no program opened and the gpu fb usage is so high on the msi afterburner, could this be a virus or something ??
I dont mean any ill to playstation users but damn , some company really been ripping people off, and firing devs, besides non hiring new ones, and saying they wont need them, i mean its the option are clear, i found funny this one like the damage is done anyways right?
Been out of the tech game for well over a decade but half know what I'm doing. Just looking to upgrade the RAM on the family laptop so basic Photoshop stuff will stop chugging. I'm trying to not buy a whole new system. Is it even worth it to throw 32 in? Just bump to 16? Or am I just wasting my time? Dell P42E001 (Inspirion 7791) Already watched model specifc videos on replacing it and it's nothing new to me.
Ive been playing on this hand me down pc that ive gotten from a relative for about a month now and because its my only pc and I want to play better games on it what should I do with it sinceI have been playing game that can run fairly easy such as minecraft, roblox, valorant. The only problem is that I want to play games like CS2 or Fortnite without being at 90 fps so im confused if somethings wrong with my setup, I need to upgrade it or I should just build an entirely new one.

Hello! I’m getting back into the pc hobby! I’m looking for a pc case that mounts the motherboard horizontally. My preferred form factor is ATX/EATX, and I’m doing air cooling only! I was looking for something similar to the Mountain mod U2-UFO case. I’m open for any mass production cases or custom boutique. Thanks for any help.
Been having Driver crashes as of beginning of last month... several times an hour...or go as long as 2 days. random.
was stable otherwise since Feb 2025 when i got it.
tried it all except for a system format. DDU, twice. AMD driver tool removal. reinstalled CPU chipset drivers. changed DP cable.
I pulled the card out of the case and noticed what seems like an thick oily substance around the screws that made its way down onto the gold chip.....never seen this before.
I can’t believe I forgot about a 2 TB Samsung 970 SSD that was in an enclosure just sitting in my desk doing nothing for the last 3 years. What a great find lol.
I cloned this drive onto a Samsung 980. And just forgot about the 979. My current gaming PC has the 2tb 980 plus a 1 TB games drive. So I’m currently very comfortable. Trying to figure out what to use this for next.
Definitely never ever getting rid of any PC parts moving forward. Go check your parts bin for any hidden treasure!
So a few years back, in 2023, i built this PC in camp, and have just realized that i may have gotten scammed. the specs are rtx 3090, ryzen 7 7800x3d, 32 gigs of ddr5, msi b650 plus wifi, and an 850 watt psu. all inside of an AURA CG2 case. i spent $2000 on the course including all fees. Please help! i just want to know if i had gotten a good deal back then of if i had gotten scammed.
edit: i am not using an AIO, just a simple copper heatsink
My mb b450 tomahawk max has only 1 m2 slot which i install 180gb m2 running window, i also have a 500gb sata ssd, im planning to get another ssd to store more game, my option are:
1. another 500gb sata,
2. 500gb m2 with pcie adapter for better speed.if option 2, should i install it to the mb slot, and the other to the adapter.
I will only store game so is sata enough for gaming since cost is a big factor. TKS!
A friend of mine wants a pc to play modded Minecraft. We were wondering if its better to buy a small prebuild like the GMKtec NucBox M5S Mini PC AMD Ryzen 3 5400U (4C/8T up to 4GHz) 16GB + 256GB
OR
Build a custom pc. If building a custom pc is the better option, what parts should we buy? She isn't really much of a gamer and will mostly play light games.
Essentially would it be more bang for buck to buy a prebuild for modded Minecraft or build a custom pc.
so im not sure how to find out what the laptop is but its a hp laptop i bought at the start of 2024. i havent used it since the end of last year, and its just been sitting in a case undisturbed. i need the laptop for next year, but was misplaced the charger that came with it so i bought a new one, it and the laptop are both 19.5V so i think thats fine? the charging cable fits in fine and it looks the exact same as the old one. however the orange charging light isnt appearing, and instead when i press the power button, it flashes a white light 3 times and thats it. if ive done something stupid please let me know thanks :D
