I wonder what happened to that car after they sold the trailer park/props when they went bankrupt and B4 the Netflix bail out that also ended in failure

As someone who's dealt with "normie" friends who think that their 10 year old system is still worth $1k just because they paid $2k for it, these people DO EXIST...
72
u/Jonkinch 3h ago
It might be now based off internals and prices gone up lol.
12
u/FolsomPrisonHues 3h ago
Nah, it was all stock with a 2k series GeForce... 16GB of RAM...
22
u/Jonkinch 3h ago
A 2080ti and 16GB of memory not including storage, board, PSU, case, or anything else? Yeah, maybe based off internals.

u/FolsomPrisonHues 2h ago
The CPU was the sinker... An i5 maybe? Like I'd implied, a decent computer for when they had it, but not so much now...

My 10-year-old system is worth $1k! After I put a $900 4070 Ti Super in it.
Honestly didn't even need to upgrade, the 1080 Ti was still a champ.

u/Wasabicannon Specs/Imgur Here 25m ago
I will never forget the day I did a complete rebuild at microcenter and went with the 1060 only to regret it and go back the next day to upgrade to the 1080 Ti. Sales rep tried to talk me out of it saying that the 1060 was perfectly fine.
Well Joe I think I made the right move by upgrading to the 1080 Ti back then as that card was a fucking beast and lasted way past the time it should have been replaced.

u/Whateverest91 19m ago
You were trying to buy something more expensive and the salesperson tried to stop you from doing that? Press X for doubt.

My pc now has a 4070 Super but my kids pc is rocking the old 1080 Ti - still games beautifully in 1080p.

u/Nuppusauruss 11m ago
I'm still rocking an 8 year old 1080 Ti, and I'm not gonna upgrade until it either breaks or I have enough money to splurge on a gpu that's significantly better.

u/thatfordboy429 Not the size of the GPU that matters... 3h ago
It was really bad when covid prices hit the used market. Post of people selling were constant...
In a vacuum, some who paid, 5k for a PC asking 3K a few years later, is not unreasonable. Unfortunately, their $5k PC was worth $1,500. As the market tanked, and a $3k GPU was worth maybe $700. I almost bought a 3090 for $500 back then but decided to wait.

4k is high end. I’m not sure what all the other words mean, though.

It’s an LG (brand) G4 (model) OLED (display type). It’s a higher end 2024 LG OLED TV.

Thanks, I was trying to be funny. Pretending I was impressed simply by the word “4K”, but ignorant of what CPU, GPU or RAM meant.

The amount of garbage pc's on like facebook market place, that they are wanting basically enough to rebuild a brand new high end pc with.
This dude is def someone that knows nothing, and probably bought it from someone claiming it was high end.

u/lnTheGrimDarkness 38m ago
You joke but you'd be baffled by the amount of people that have a shallow understanding about PCs but absolutely can't understand that pushing a game to 4k resolution is not for free. They unironically think that shooting the resolution that high isn't something that has requirements.

Funny cuz the LG G4 tv was the top of the line oled tv at the time of the original post , probably costs more than double the pc’s.

2022 2023 average chips should be considered as high end imo. Top tier is another story. Most people live in third world countries. Racing for high end is a budget and dev cycle curse if one chasing quality
3
u/kaerfdeeps 3h ago
Whats worse is that we leave so much performance on the table when developing games or architecting engines which is completely normal since almost no one wants to pay that much for skilled programmers but then end users end up paying more on hardware just to brute force that bottleneck

u/SoManyDeads 3h ago
I am going to throw out, the only thing high end when it came out of this would have been the monitor. Everything else would have been mid grade at best. i5 - mid grade, 1650 is a low grade graphics card for its line mid grade could be argued, but it's the one step up from 1630 with 5 other options above it.
I don't think his device is capable of running anything at 4k other than a movie or the desktop.

Designing these becoming a lost art and skill ceiling is insanely high its absurd especially on gpu side

ya know if it was a 2080 or even a 1080 i could understand and also a i9 of that generation cuz atleast then they genuiently thought it was high end cuz it was at one point and its just some old person who dosnt understand that tech devloups and isnt just corprate BS
but nah this was low end when it was built (or this guy is so stupid he thinks that the mointor affects proformance

Tbf it still shouldn't crash, just run like ass. Ignoring the ram spec goof/typo, both a 10400 and a 1650 have all relevant instruction sets and features except DX 12_2 which basically only locks you out of a small handful of games which wouldn't merely crash, but refuse to run in the first place.

It's the responsibility of the players to drop 20k on a pc to play flash games. The devs aren't the problem, they players are.
1
u/Cumfake123 47m ago
That thing is more powerful than mine 😔, maybe the developers aren't optimizing the games enough, or am I just poor?

High end in 2019? Plus I think they meant DDR4, because DDR3 doesn't work with 10th gen.
