Hey, r/AndroidGaming! This thread is for discussing the Android games you’ve been trying out over the past week. Feel free to share what you’ve been playing and tell us about it! What is the game about? What are you enjoying? What could be improved? Would you recommend it to others? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

For those joining the discussion, please include Google Play Store links for any games you mention as a courtesy to others who may want to check them out.

DEV 🧑‍💻 [DEV] Cozy Country: a cozy landscape game where rivers actually flow, out now on Android

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm Rob, a solo dev, and my game Cozy Country just launched on Android.

It's a relaxing landscape builder. Shape the land, paint forests, add a river, and watch the water flow downhill and find its own path. You can also place furnished buildings, add animals, change the weather and time of day, then walk around the world you made. No enemies, no pressure.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.protopop.cozycountry

Happy to answer any questions about the game!

DEV 🧑‍💻 [DEV] I don't really have anyone to share this news with irl but I'm very proud of myself.

Hi everyone.

It's been a long time since I posted on Reddit about my game and I feel in the past I overdid it so I took a step back.

BUT!...

Something big is happening with BBRPG and it could be a turning point in my life, I don't have anyone to share this with IRL sadly but hopefully I can feel proud to share it with you guys in a similar boat. It's mad how this project has affected my life, the time I've lost with friends and family to get here, it's a point I don't think many talk about and it's a tricky one to navigate. We work hard as indie devs and finding that balance has been really hard for me, I sort of went all in and honestly I've lost a lot along the way.

BUT!...BUT!...

I'll get to the point, i few months back I started getting a lot of attention from publishers seemingly out of nowhere, I had a few calls and many of them were a flop, they ask too much of me, want too much of the cut, or want to monetize the game so aggressively it would be an insult to the players.

I declined a lot of offers on this basis. I want the perfect publisher to let me control the game and honor the players that helped support me on the nearly 3 year, 10 hours a day, 7 day a week journey it has taken to get here.

Anyway, I might have found one (or two, there is a very nice team as a back up). The game is currently undergoing tests and I can't explain to you the feeling this gives me.

When I stopped promoting the game on Reddit, the player base slowly declined and honestly it was easy to start losing hope. I am so excited to see what comes next and I hope the game becomes a success.

Us indie devs can do it, we can break the standard routine and become our own bosses making games, our dream jobs. I will try to share this journey with you so we can all be a part of it.

to all you devs out there, old and new, I hope you continue the grind, you never know when it might pay off.

I can't name the publishers I spoke to but any questions feel free to ask.

Here's the game (obligatory shameless promo):

Bricks Breaker RPG:

4.8-4.9 / 5 rating

Gameplay 📺 Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights Droid Deck

Quick gameplay of Ender Lilies, droid deck works best for smaller indie games like this. Runs close to 60fps and with framegen it touches 120fps. Playing on a Samsung Galaxy Z fold 8.

Discussion 💬 What are some actually good tower defense games?

I enjoy the Bloons series quite a bit but wanted something a bit different. I tried out Kingshot but it's not actually a TD game all despite the adds. Addictive, but no actual real gameplay, so I'm going to uninstall it. It's just clicking things on a timer.

I enjoy other games as well like Balatro, Slay the Spire and Vampire survivors. Just hard to guage when a game is actually a game and not some gacha nonsense. Though I didn't mind Mighty Doom for what it was as there was a big of challenge to it. Warhammer Tacticus seemed far too simple.

Play Store Link 🔗 I built a free HOK companion app in my spare time, mainly to help beginners

Post image
• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I'm an indie developer and an Honor of Kings player, and I've been building a companion app called Aegis in my free time.

The idea came from wanting to make the game a little easier for beginners, especially when it comes to understanding counter-picks and choosing the right builds for a match.

Here's what Aegis offers:

- Smart counters: Recommendations based on both enemy and allied heroes.

- Match-based builds: Build recommendations tailored to the heroes in the match.

- In-game overlay: Access recommendations without switching between apps.

- Offline and AI-powered options: Get recommendations through the available modes.

The app is completely free, with no ads or paywalls.

No ban. ( I'm using this app for last 2 months)

I'm not building this as a big business project. I just wanted to create something useful for the HOK community in my spare time, especially for players who are still learning the game.

I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from experienced players and beginners alike. What features would you want in a companion app like this? What could make it more useful?

If you're interested in checking it out, here's the link: Play Store Link

Thanks for reading!

I can handle the crashing and small frame drops from time to time but this is where I'll have to stop(female character doesn't seem to have this problem, but still prefer male), hopefully devs roll out some updates soon bc despite the bad port, it's still extremely fun.

Seeking Game Recommendations 👀 [REQUEST] Potato phone, seeking recomms

Hi everyone! First of all, sorry for any weird phrasing or grammar mistakes—English isn't my native language, so I'm relying on a translation tool to write this.

I'm a dad in my 40s who works and lives a fairly normal life, but I really enjoy having a quiet gaming session every now and then to just unplug and relax. For years, my daily go-to has been Call of Duty Mobile. I've always played it very casually: sitting down with wired headphones, no mic, no cheats or emulators, and 100% free-to-play. Because of a medical condition, I can only play using my thumbs on the screen, but it’s always worked out fine for me!

Unfortunately, my phone died recently, and for a while I’m stuck with a proper 'potato phone'—only 4GB of RAM and a pretty weak processor. I also have an old laptop, but it doesn't even hit 6GB of RAM, so that's quite limited too. Since I can't play CODM right now, I'm looking for some new game recommendations that can actually run on my setup.

Ideally, I'm looking for something free that gets straight to the point without long unskippable cutscenes or tutorials, isn't flooded with cheaters or toxic players, and doesn't require a university degree to learn the rules. I also tend to prefer western art styles over anime or Asian-style graphics (just personal taste!). And most importantly, it has to be playable using just my thumbs.

Over the years I've loved games like Delta Force, World of Tanks, Apex, PUBG, Brawl Stars, and CODM. On the more strategy or slow-paced side, I enjoy things like TheoTown, Kards, ScummVM, Gurk, Merchant, Civilization, Catan, Carcassonne, Maquis, Age of Empires, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and 4, Dune 2, XCOM, and especially DeckEleven's Railroads, which is honestly a little addiction I can't seem to shake off.

If you made it through my story and have any ideas for games that might fit, I'd truly appreciate your recommendations. Thanks a lot for reading!

Seeking Game Recommendations 👀 [Request] Need recommendations please

Hi ! I need your help pleaseee

So I've been a casual mobile gamer almost all my life, but I recently feel like I don't have A GAME that entertains me on my phone.

I'm a big Pc gamer and for the next weeks I won't have access to my pc ... and the only game I been playing consistently on my phone for a 1y+ is ✨️Idle Obelisk Miner✨️

I need something that requires more active playing.

I have a few criteria of corse :

\- No pc ports ( Dave the diver, Don't starve, Terraria...)

\- No predatory P2W ( Gachas, summons... 👎 )

\- Nice graphics would be appreciated

\- Mostly PVE focused

\- No need for story

\- Prefer Vertical playing ( So I can play easily at work )

Here's a few games that I love ( Stardew, Hades, Diablo III, Dofus, Metin2, Valorant, Palworld, Warframe, Slay the spire, Risk of rain 2, Cult of the lamb )

Thaaaaank you 🙏🙏🙏

Help/Support 🙋 How do I setup a joystick to work with a Magic Dosbox emulated game in Android (using Samsung DEX)?

Basically I'm hyped about the upcoming Squadron 42 game and I want to play Wing Commander 2 (which is what Squadron 42 is supposed to be an spiritual successor to) on Android using my physical Joystick - an old Extreme 3D Pro model. Here are the details of the setup I'm trying to run:

> I own an old Galaxy Note 9 smartphone, which has Samsung DEX.

> Bought an independent HDMI adapter (not the official DEX hub) to use DEX mode on an HDMI monitor I have available. It works fine.

> Also bought an USB hub to expand the USB ports in the adapter from 1 to 4, so I can plug a keyboard, mouse and the joystick. All of this also works (I can even control DEX mode with my joystick, which is clunky but surprising).

> I own Wing Commander 2 in GOG. I downloaded the executable files directly from GOG and extracted them using an app called "Inno Setup Extractor". I also own Magic Dosbox.

> I set the game up to run through Magic Dosbox. It launches and works ok.

The problem is that apparently the joystick isn't recognized by this setup as a true physucal analog joystick. The axis inputs feel like on and off switches, as if the program is emulating a gamepad instead of an analog joystick. I can't be smooth or steer my ship slowly to aim precisely, because any joystick input, even the small ones, immediately reads as a max tilted input.

I've been trying to solve this for 3 days now. Has anyone run into this problem and managed to solve it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Help/Support 🙋 Emulate older versions of android?

Hello everybody! I would like to play Earth Defender S and first wood war, but neither seem to be working. Most likely due to both being made for a much older version of android. Would anyone know how to emulate an older version? Like how you can emulate older phones on BlueStacks. Or alternatively are there other ways to make me able to play these great older games?

DEV 🧑‍💻 [DEV] Major update for my solo-dev card game 'Grimoria' on Android: New 'Dullahan' card, visual overhaul, and now live on Steam for cross-play! (No P2W)

Hi r/AndroidGaming!

I’m Daniel, a solo dev from Italy. For the past 3 years, I’ve been working full-time on my portrait card battler, Grimoria.

I just released a major content update on Android, and today our Steam store page also went live for PC wishlists!

What’s New in this Update:

  • New Card - The Dullahan: "Deal 1 damage on loss." This legendary headless knight punishes opponents when you lose a round. In 4-Player Battle Royale, its retaliation damage hits ALL opponents on the board, not just the winner!
  • Visual Overhaul: Added dynamic lighting, softer contact shadows, and an atmospheric tabletop look.
  • Steam Cross-Play: The PC version is now in closed testing on Steam, meaning full cross-play between Android, iOS, and PC is officially live.

Core Mechanics:

  • Fast Turn-Based Combat: 15-second turn timers where you play 1 card per round.
  • The Initiative Rule: The winner of each trick leads the next round. On equal strength, the card played FIRST wins—unless countered by the Elemental Cycle (Fire > Earth > Water > Fire).
  • Game Modes: 4-Player Battle Royale, 2v2 Co-op (shared health/shields with an ally), and 1v1.
  • 100% Free-to-Play: Zero Pay-to-Win stats; all 25+ base creatures are unlocked simply by playing.

Download:

I'll be hanging out in the comments to answer questions about the new card or the update!

Seeking Game Recommendations 👀 [REQUEST] Looking For A Non Roguelike Build Crafting Game

My favorite kind of game are games where you can create your own build. Diablo like ARPGs are the most obvious answer so games like Powerlust, Astair, and Titan Quest, but also turn based games like the Grim series (Grim Omens etc), Puzzle Quest, and pet or team based games like Siralim Ultimate. Even card based games like Spellsword Cards

Does anyone have recommendations for games like this where you can really make your own build and feel clever while doing content? Single player preferred, as well as one time purchase, but I'm willing to accept almost anything up to moderate pay to win.

My only hard rule is no roguelike. I really like working on my build over time rather than one unlucky roll of the deck ruining it. Does anyone have any recommendations?
