Titan 2 Elite: two weeks in, after nearly 20 years on iPhone

Hi all,
kind of new to reddit and this is my first post!
I've been using the Titan 2 Elite for almost exactly two weeks now and wanted to share some first impressions. (Germany)
I really want to love this phone. I enjoy picking it up every day, and after nearly 20 years on iPhone, it feels good to have something that reminds me of a BlackBerry again. Android took some time getting used to, but I can now see the pros and cons of both systems. A few things that i totally forgot about from the apple eco system - My Airtags don´t work and i shared my location with my wife via iPhone which was kind of handy sometimes. Also, i use the Airpods and i dont like that i can not start "hey google" with Airpods. But i can live with that.
Honestly, I haven't missed my iPhone once so far (iPhone 17pro MAX). An unexpected bonus even it was not a problem before: I've barely touched Instagram or TikTok or any other social media app. They work, but they're just not much fun on this phone. I mostly use it to get things done, which suits me. To break it down:
The good
- Its so small compared to iPhone, love it. Screen is more ore less half the size of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
- Less distraction. I spend less time scrolling and more time using my phone for something useful.
- The display scaling. I like the small text and how much fits on the screen. My wife thinks it's way too small, so that's definitely a matter of preference. But i have to admint, that if you want to click a link on a website its getting difficult and i miss the button quite often and it don´t feel as responsive as on the iphone.
- Keyboard shortcuts. Being able to jump straight into apps from the keyboard is great.
- The fingerprint reader. It works really well and picks up my finger easily. Almost too easily.
- The feel of it. I've missed having a physical keyboard. I also haven't had this many people ask about my phone in years world wide - India, Dubai, Germany....
- Performance is generally fine. It's fast enough for what I need. Spotify does get sluggish and laggy sometimes, though. No idea whether that's the app or the phone.
- Using the RIPE launcher which is kind of a blackbarry style OS. Really love it and i hope there will be some improvements coming.
The bad
- The speaker is terrible. YouTube, podcasts, speakerphone calls — none of them are pleasant to listen to.
- Battery life is kind of disappointing. Even with barely any social media use, I struggle to make it through the day without topping it up. But i picked it up also quite often for emails and configuration - there is a lot to configure on android and especially Pastiera / Plektra. So i give it a few more weeks.
- The keyboard is my biggest issue, which is frustrating because it's also the reason I bought the phone. I don't know if I got a bad unit, but some keys seem to need more pressure than others to register. Especially the first row under the screen. I keep missing letters even when I'm sure I've pressed the key and heard it click. It makes it hard to type quickly or trust what I'm typing. I've had the same problem with both the stock keyboard software and Plektra (formerly Pastiera). I've attached a video to show what I mean. "R" is kind of extreme. I dont know if there is some kind of fix to it.
- It's too easy to touch the fingerprint reader by accident. When I slide the phone into my pocket, I keep brushing the sensor with a finger or part of my hand and getting a little vibration. Then I'm left wondering whether I just unlocked the phone or got a notification. It's a small thing, but it gets annoying.
- I'd rearrange Shift, Alt and Enter. Their positions don't feel natural to me yet, although I'll probably get used to them.
- Scrolling with the keyboard feels a bit rough. From what I remember, it felt smoother and more precise on my BlackBerry.
Despite those issues, this phone has reminded me how much I like keyboard phones. I enjoy using it for emails and chats, and I want more phones like this to exist.
I've also ordered the Clicks Communicator and am very close to ordering the Minimal Phone 2. I just like the MP02 design so much.
But I need the typing to be reliable. Pressing some buttons extra hard to get a response just dont feel like a natural typing experience. If the missed keypresses don't improve (maybe i get used to it over time), I'll be hoping one of the others gets that part right. I also want to reach out to Unihertz.
TL:DR: i love the phone, i love physical keyboard, software can improve a bit but man, the keyboard has to work properly. Then i would never look to any other phone.
Anyone else getting missed letters even when you can feel and hear the key click?
