Guide/Tutorial I built an unofficial LineageOS 23.2 (Android 16) for the Jelly Star: Bluetooth, NFC, VoLTE and both LEDs work
Hi!! I got tired of the preinstalled bloat that came with the Jelly Star on Android 16, and the LineageOS GSI broke Bluetooth audio and NFC on my Jelly Star. So I spent a few weeks building a proper LineageOS port for it.
What works
Calls, SMS, 4G data and VoLTE (if your carrier allows it; tested on 3 Denmark)
Bluetooth audio incl. aptX, Wi-Fi, GPS, fingerprint, both cameras, IR blaster, all sensors
NFC: reading cards and the phone as a card (my gym check-in works)
Front RGB LED and back LED effects, red button actions, charge limit
OTA updates through the built-in Updater
microG and Magisk both work
What doesn't
Play Integrity fails completely (the bootloader must stay unlocked), so Google Wallet tap-to-pay and some banking apps won't work
Wi-Fi calling and face unlock
The headphone jack isn't detected on my unit, but stock behaves the same on it. If you try it, I'd love to hear whether it works on yours.
Full status list: https://github.com/osquera/lineageos_unihertz_jellystar/blob/HEAD/STATUS.md
Download and install guide: https://github.com/osquera/lineageos_unihertz_jellystar/releases/latest
Installing wipes the phone (unlocking the bootloader does too), so back up first. And never relock the bootloader with LineageOS installed, or it won't boot.
Unihertz won't release the kernel source, so this uses their stock kernel, and an official LineageOS port isn't possible. I wrote up the whole story, including why the fixes didn't need the kernel source after all: https://osquera.com/blog/unihertz-jellystar-lineageos-port/
It's a one-person hobby project, so no promises on long-term maintenance, but bug reports are very welcome. Please include your carrier for anything call- or data-related.

Unihertz update for the Titan2 Elite is on the way!
Hey everyone,
I reached out to Unihertz support asking about the current software status for the Titan 2 Elite, and figured I'd share the reply in case anyone else is wondering the same thing. Here's their response:
Hi there, Your Titan 2 Elite is already up to date. We will release a new update for the Titan 2 Elite soon, so please stay tuned. To update your device, open "Settings > About phone > System update". Tap "Check for updates" when a new update is available, and install the latest software.
TL;DR: If you're on the latest build, you're not missing anything yet — but a new update is apparently in the pipeline and "coming soon."

Old School Runescape running on Titan 2 Elite!
A few people have been asking so thought I'd upload some images. OSRS works great in forced portrait mode! Been using it for some afk woodcutting :) I also use my Bluetooth mouse with it and keep it on the side of my desk with this 3d printed stand. Goes to show that this phone is great for retro gaming, you just gotta setup the orientation correctly but can confirm Runescape is playable!

T2E Android Auto failure - extensive testing and bug report
Hey everyone, I set some time aside today to extensively test the Android Auto failure with my T2E. I understand it works fine for some of you, but there are quite a few others like me who have this issue.
The issue:
My Titan 2 Elite connects to Android Auto in my car, but the car screen stays black and the Android Auto interface never appears. My Samsung Galaxy A55, on the same Android Auto version, works perfectly with the same head unit, so the problem appears to be specific to the Titan.
What happens:
- With the head unit's built-in Android Auto app (wireless), the Titan connects but the screen stays black. Setting Android Auto's video resolution to 480p in its developer settings makes it disconnect instead.
- With Open Headunit, a separate Android Auto receiver app, the Titan connects but never gets past a black "starting Android Auto" screen. This happens with both hardware and software decoding, and with both H.264 and H.265. The Galaxy A55 works with the same app and settings.
What I've already tried on the Titan:
- Made sure the phone has the latest system update
- Updated Android Auto, Google Play services and Google Maps
- Cleared Android Auto's storage and set it up again
- Re-paired Bluetooth with the car
- Turned on Disable HW overlays in Developer options
- Tested in safe mode
It looks like the issue is specific to the T2E and Android Auto cannot produce its video stream on this phone. I have submitted a ticket to Unihertz for this so hopefully those with similar issues get some resolution too.

Review JellyStar touchscreen became unresponsive exactly one month after the 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty 🙃
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It's also the single most satisfying fidget I've ever owned—take that however you want. 🎃
Edit: Being more thorough in my review, I dropped this phone A LOT, at HIGH VELOCITIES, just really slamming into the ground. Not on purpose, but if you swing it around like this enough, it's bound to happen. I never ran into any issues until last week, but it was a whole year of that. I would say that's on me, but as a career fidgeter, I would appreciate a JellyStar designed for this exact purpose. The catch weight is insane—just enough to make swinging it a breeze, but not so much that it gets tiring quickly. Don't even get me started on the form factor! So satisfying to catch in the palm. I wish it had a slideout keyboard though. That would've made it perfect. I actually would've been perfectly okay with a little extra bulk if they could make that work. I miss my old Sidekick in that way. I try to be as minimal as possible when I go out, and the JellyStar's portability really cannot be overstated. It's surprisingly easy to get used to for media, so it's not a perfect dumbphone, but it was just frustrating enough to make it not really worth being on while socializing, so I had significantly fewer soft-glow-standing-in-the-corner moments around my friends. ✅️

T2E Toolbox - Sharing an app I made with Gemini that fixed some annoyances I have with the device [Shizuku Required]
This app was made in the Antigravity IDE with Gemini coding and Claude researching at times. I know vibe coded/AI made apps are not everyone’s thing, so I wanted to be very upfront.
Hello, just wanted to share an app I made to address some annoyances I had with the T2E. I spun this one up quickly because there were some things I wanted changed on the phone.
This requires Shizuku and was made for the T2E specifically.
- Status Bar Flashlight Icon: Puts a clean icon dead-center in the status bar when the flashlight is on, so you know immediately if the side key accidentally turned it on in your pocket. Doesn’t block status bar touches.
- I have long press on the programmable key set to turn on the flashlight and realized I had left the flashlight on a couple of times. This helps show when the flashlight is on.
- Side-Key Volume Mode Switcher: Lets you map the programmable side key to cycle Sound → Vibrate → Silent instantly with haptic feedback, without opening any app screen.
- Can be used with any other programmable key; it just adds a launchable shortcut that cycles sound profiles.
- I have it set to a double press of the orange/red side key.
- Unified Status Bar Swipe: Restores stock Android swipe-down behavior (first swipe opens notifications, second swipe opens Quick Settings).
- I hated the split status bar behavior coming from a Pixel; this changes the behavior back to “stock” Android.
- Display Fix: Calibrated screen resolution/density scaling via Shizuku with 1-tap backup/restore.
- This is the least tested one, but it is supposed to change screen rendering from 1080p to about 800p to save a bit of battery while trying to maintain scaling. I used it for a couple of days with no issues before going back to “stock” sizing.
- Warning: if you have the built-in pedometer disabled or uninstalled, it wreaks havoc on the lockscreen when changing density.
- This setting should be used with caution, and only by those who are comfortable with ADB and have already set it up on their device to rescue it in case something with scaling goes south. Unihertz system packages get weird when you start really messing with wm sizing.
- When you use wm sizing and then reboot, the system changes things back to stock; this reapplies the sizing after a reboot.
It collects no data, is fully local, and is open source.
Requirements: Shizuku (no root needed) & Accessibility service.
Download / Source: https://github.com/eqbirvin/T2EToolbox/releases
Unlike my other app, Conduit, this one is not my pride and joy lol, just a tool I made to fix issues I had with the device and add some handy features. I did not enforce a design language or comprehensive smoke tests. I provide no guaranteed support and it will remain a fully vibe-coded app, but drop requests, questions, complaints, anything here and I will try to respond. It does not have a built-in updater, so check releases page regularly if you want to keep on top of new features and fixes I add.
I only shared this because I found it helpful, and figured someone else might too

Help wanted Jelly Max keeps killing an app
I tried disabling app blocker and even removed it completely with universal android debloater. The app has all the permissions and unrestricted battery access. When I close it in the background apps menu it should keep running and showing that it runs in the notifications, but the phone kills it. It's a VPN app. How to prevent this?

T2E Pastiera Keyboard
I installed pastiera on my titan elite, but I can't seem to figure out how to remove the lower status bar for the keyboard. Almost every app with an input method defaults to having a small lower empty blank bar below the text input area.
With a smaller screen, I want to keep as much usable space as possible. Is there a pastiera or android setting, or both, that needs to be toggled off?

Titan 2 Elite: two weeks in, after nearly 20 years on iPhone
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi all,
kind of new to reddit and this is my first post!
I've been using the Titan 2 Elite for almost exactly two weeks now and wanted to share some first impressions. (Germany)
I really want to love this phone. I enjoy picking it up every day, and after nearly 20 years on iPhone, it feels good to have something that reminds me of a BlackBerry again. Android took some time getting used to, but I can now see the pros and cons of both systems. A few things that i totally forgot about from the apple eco system - My Airtags don´t work and i shared my location with my wife via iPhone which was kind of handy sometimes. Also, i use the Airpods and i dont like that i can not start "hey google" with Airpods. But i can live with that.
Honestly, I haven't missed my iPhone once so far (iPhone 17pro MAX). An unexpected bonus even it was not a problem before: I've barely touched Instagram or TikTok or any other social media app. They work, but they're just not much fun on this phone. I mostly use it to get things done, which suits me. To break it down:
The good
- Its so small compared to iPhone, love it. Screen is more ore less half the size of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
- Less distraction. I spend less time scrolling and more time using my phone for something useful.
- The display scaling. I like the small text and how much fits on the screen. My wife thinks it's way too small, so that's definitely a matter of preference. But i have to admint, that if you want to click a link on a website its getting difficult and i miss the button quite often and it don´t feel as responsive as on the iphone.
- Keyboard shortcuts. Being able to jump straight into apps from the keyboard is great.
- The fingerprint reader. It works really well and picks up my finger easily. Almost too easily.
- The feel of it. I've missed having a physical keyboard. I also haven't had this many people ask about my phone in years world wide - India, Dubai, Germany....
- Performance is generally fine. It's fast enough for what I need. Spotify does get sluggish and laggy sometimes, though. No idea whether that's the app or the phone.
- Using the RIPE launcher which is kind of a blackbarry style OS. Really love it and i hope there will be some improvements coming.
The bad
- The speaker is terrible. YouTube, podcasts, speakerphone calls — none of them are pleasant to listen to.
- Battery life is kind of disappointing. Even with barely any social media use, I struggle to make it through the day without topping it up. But i picked it up also quite often for emails and configuration - there is a lot to configure on android and especially Pastiera / Plektra. So i give it a few more weeks.
- The keyboard is my biggest issue, which is frustrating because it's also the reason I bought the phone. I don't know if I got a bad unit, but some keys seem to need more pressure than others to register. Especially the first row under the screen. I keep missing letters even when I'm sure I've pressed the key and heard it click. It makes it hard to type quickly or trust what I'm typing. I've had the same problem with both the stock keyboard software and Plektra (formerly Pastiera). I've attached a video to show what I mean. "R" is kind of extreme. I dont know if there is some kind of fix to it.
- It's too easy to touch the fingerprint reader by accident. When I slide the phone into my pocket, I keep brushing the sensor with a finger or part of my hand and getting a little vibration. Then I'm left wondering whether I just unlocked the phone or got a notification. It's a small thing, but it gets annoying.
- I'd rearrange Shift, Alt and Enter. Their positions don't feel natural to me yet, although I'll probably get used to them.
- Scrolling with the keyboard feels a bit rough. From what I remember, it felt smoother and more precise on my BlackBerry.
Despite those issues, this phone has reminded me how much I like keyboard phones. I enjoy using it for emails and chats, and I want more phones like this to exist.
I've also ordered the Clicks Communicator and am very close to ordering the Minimal Phone 2. I just like the MP02 design so much.
But I need the typing to be reliable. Pressing some buttons extra hard to get a response just dont feel like a natural typing experience. If the missed keypresses don't improve (maybe i get used to it over time), I'll be hoping one of the others gets that part right. I also want to reach out to Unihertz.
TL:DR: i love the phone, i love physical keyboard, software can improve a bit but man, the keyboard has to work properly. Then i would never look to any other phone.
Anyone else getting missed letters even when you can feel and hear the key click?

I ordered the orange Titan 2 Elite in early September to the US. I see several people have received their 70xxx+ orders. Is anyone else still waiting that ordered around the same time? I know the orange take a little longer.

Help wanted Valutazione corretta Titan 2
Ciao a tutti!

Unihertz Affiliate Program
Has anyone had any experience with their affiliate program? We have been making quite a lot of sales for them (over $23k) on a very low commission rate, but after each month they cancel every single order.
Their support is none existent (which I am seeing from other posts), so I am just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience?
