Overdue credit card?

Post image
52 Upvotes

I just got sent this message, and it says I’m overdue on a credit card payment for 8 months. I came to the UAE 2 months ago, and didn’t get any credit cards. I also just got this number that the message was sent, and I don’t know what to do.

I’m on a visa, and came here to study two months ago. I’m assuming it was either directed to someone who was using the number I am using rn, or is a spam. Please help

Its about time to move out

Here is another story of moving out from Dubai. Build a decent life over the past decade or so. Tried really hard to move out and finally now have the opportunity to do so. I called it home for 1/3 of my life, it built me what I am today, but somehow never felt like I belong here, or anywhere to be honest. I will be forever thankful. Fingers crossed to what's to come.

Why am I posting this? Feeling extremely weird right now. Haven't told a lot of people so cannot discuss this with anyone, as your know. making friends in Dubai has been a challenge for most of us. People come and go all the time. So there comes a time where you stop making friends.

Counting days now. Moving to US.

Is this legal?! Lexus Taxi driver charged 129 AED & used a personal phone app (Zina) to take card payment!

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a frustrating experience I had taking a taxi from **Dubai Mall to Al Rigga (Al Ghurair Mall)** to warn both tourists and residents. Something shady is definitely going on here.
Here is exactly what happened:

**1st Lexus Taxi:** Asked for 70 AED flat bill before starting. (I declined).

**2nd Lexus Taxi:** Driver approached me and said he had a meter, so I trusted him.
**Me:** How much going to Al Rigga (Al Ghurair Mall)?
**Driver:** This is same taxi, have meter, no worries!
**Me:** Ok, fine.
(We reached Al Rigga / Al Ghurair Mall, and he showed me the phone screen.)
**Me:** How much?
**Driver:** 129 AED!
**Me:** WHATTTT?! Seriously?
**Driver:** Yes, this is luxury and Lexus, why you shocked?
**Me:** Bro, are you OK?
**Driver:** Yes, why you complaining? You not know Lexus car?
**Me:** I know, but one guy with the same Lexus car asked me for 70 AED. What is your good name?
**Driver:** *What your asking? You have problem to me?! (Starts yelling at me)*
**Me:** Bro, calm down! I’m just asking because I have a good friend from RTA so I can ask about this!
**Driver:** *(Instantly changes tone)* Ok, I give you only 100 AED, ok?
**Me:** Ok fine... *(I didn't have a choice at that point)*
*(He takes out his personal phone and opens the ZINA app instead of using the car terminal)*
**Me:** Why are you not using the card machine?
**Driver:** No, no, because finish battery!
**Me:** Ok, please show me the bill, I want to take a photo.
**Driver:** Why?
**Me:** I need to reimburse only to my company! *(Tried to hide the phone, but I took the photo anyway)*
*(I paid via Tap-to-Pay on his phone and left)*

**My Questions:**

  1. Is it legal for a taxi/limo driver to use a personal phone app like **ZINA** to tap card payments instead of using the official RTA card terminal?
  2. Looking closely at the picture I snapped, his app shows **"Edit fare"** and a **1.48x surge pricing** manually applied on a private device!

Initially, he asked for cash payment, but I told him I only had a card. If this is illegal, please be aware of guys like this. I really hope RTA catches drivers who pull this stunt.
It might not seem like a massive amount of money, but imagine if a tourist who trusts the system falls for this every day. If he gets 8 customers a day doing this, imagine how much extra money he is pocketing per month!

Let's all stand up for what's fair and honest in life.

**Has anyone else encountered this issue in Dubai recently?**

Airsoft this saturday anyone? 💥

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to share this in case anyone’s looking for something fun to do on weekends!

There’s a weekly airsoft group that plays every Saturday at Sharjah Paintball Park. We’ve already got a pretty active group of regulars, but there’s always new people joining too. Last Saturday alone, we had around 35 visitors on top of our regular players 😂

Games start at 7 PM since it’s outdoors and the weather is a lot cooler in the evenings.

No experience needed either! Whether you’ve played before or just want to try something new, everyone’s welcome.

If anyone’s interested or has any questions, feel free to comment or message me! 😊

Cat went missing at Dubai airport cargo area

Posting this for a friend, it's honestly heartbreaking.

On October 11th she was flying out of Dubai and handed her cat over at the airport to travel with her. When she was going through immigration, they told her the cat was lost. The airline asked her to stay at the airport, so she stayed there for 28 hours waiting for updates and searching, but they still couldn't find the cat. Apparently she was told there's no CCTV in the cargo area, so nobody can even tell what happened.

Her visa was cancelled, so she had to fly back without the cat. The cage wasn't broken, so the cat didn't just escape on its own. Definitely some negligence from some people

I Withdrew My Dubai Courts Execution Case and Accepted 3 Post-Dated Cheques for My Unpaid Salary

A few months ago, I resigned from my company in Dubai because of repeated salary delays. I completed my notice period, handed over all my responsibilities, and left expecting to receive my outstanding salary and end-of-service benefits.

Unfortunately, the company didn't settle my dues.

After several follow-ups, I filed complaints with MOHRE and eventually received two decisions in my favour, totalling over AED 40,000.

The company agreed to settle the payments within the deadlines given by MOHRE, but those deadlines passed without any payment. I had no choice but to open an execution case with Dubai Courts.

Even after opening the case, the process was taking time. The legal notification itself was delayed, and I was still waiting for further action.

Recently, the company contacted me and offered to settle my outstanding dues through three post-dated cheques.

However, they had one condition: I had to withdraw my Dubai Courts execution case before they would hand over the cheques.

After months of waiting, following up, and dealing with legal procedures, I finally decided to accept their proposal.

I withdrew my execution case and collected the three post-dated cheques.

It wasn't an easy decision. I knew there was a risk involved, especially since the company had already failed to honour previous payment commitments.

But I was exhausted by the entire process. I just wanted to recover my hard-earned money and put this experience behind me.

Now, although I have the cheques in my hand, I still haven't actually received the money. I have to wait for each cheque's due date and hope that all three clear successfully.

What worries me most is the possibility of a cheque bouncing. After going through MOHRE, obtaining favourable decisions, and opening a Dubai Courts execution case, the thought of starting another legal process is frustrating.

The company is still operating and securing new projects, while I have spent months trying to recover salary I already earned.

This experience has taught me that winning a labour case and actually receiving your money are two completely different things.

For now, my court case is withdrawn, the cheques are with me, and all I can do is wait for the payments to clear.

I genuinely hope this is the final chapter of this exhausting experience.

2 week work visit

• Upvotes

I will be going to UAE in November for 2 weeks or more for work. How much do I need apart from tickets. I will mostly be staying at Jebel Ali free zone. I don't know how much the company will cover in advance and how much will be reimbursed later so I just want to know how much cash I need on me. And I am open to any advice or tips about anything. This is my first visit to the UAE.

Cats available for adoption [Dubai]

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for homes for 5 cats who are available for adoption.

I would prefer if you could adopt them in pairs of 3's and 2's, so they can have company and companionship.

To help with their care, I’ll also provide approximately 3 months of cat food.

I’m hoping to find kind, responsible people who can give them a safe, loving home. If you’re interested in adopting, or know someone who might be, please DM me.

Location: Deira, Dubai

Delivery is possible within the Deira region

Thank you!

PEP medication in ajman Dubai or sharjah

Oh my God somebody please help me. Please please please please. Please. Please. Please please please please. I might have been exposed to HIV and it's a very high risk situation. I've already been through the first 24 hours now and I've been from hospital to hospital from clinic to clinic trying to get this stupid medication that nobody has. No one has any idea what to do. No one knows where to go. No one has any information. They all just say no we can't help. You know we don't have it. It needs to be administered within 72 hours and the best window is the first 24 hours and I did my due diligence and no one will help me. No one will help me. No one will help me. No one will help me. Where the hell do you get this medication in the UAE?

UAE Golden Visa Eligibility

• Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I’m interested in studying at Monash University Malaysia or the University of Nottingham/Southampton Malaysia.

Would a bachelor’s degree from either of these universities be eligible for the Golden Visa (assuming I graduate with a CGPA above 3.5 and the university’s ranking stays within the top 100), even though they are branch campuses in another country?

If so, what is the process for applying for it while I’m still in Malaysia?

Thanks in advance :D

UK Russel Group undergrad degree value??

Hey there everyone!!

I (19M) am born and raised in UAE. I am from India.

I am a second year at a top 5 Russel Group university studying law, but i’m genuinely questioning whether that’s the career I want to pursue. I also am quite uncertain about job prospects in the UK.

Hence, I wanted to ask whether such a law degree genuinely carries weight with firms in UAE? How much salary can I expect with the degree + some internships i did when I was a teen?

I really would like some guidance since the current job market is giving me a lot of anxiety, and i’d like to know what my options are. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank You!!

Pakistani National - Dubai Mainland Investor/Partner Visa Rejected Twice Despite Owning 60% of an Active Company. Anyone Approved After Reconsideration? (October 2026)

I'm a Pakistani national currently living in Dubai, and I'm facing a very difficult situation with my residence visa.

I own 60% of a Dubai mainland LLC company and am also officially registered as its manager. My company has been operating for approximately 1.5 years, has an active trade licence, employees, and ongoing business operations.

Here's my situation:

- I previously held a UAE residence visa, which has now been cancelled.

- I applied for an investor/partner residence visa through my own mainland company.

- My application was rejected.

- I applied again, but it was rejected for the second time.

- The latest rejection reason was "Rejected by Administration."

- This time, GDRFA has provided an option to apply for reconsideration.

I'm planning to submit a formal reconsideration request with my trade licence, Memorandum of Association (MOA), proof of 60% ownership, and supporting business documents.

I would really appreciate answers from anyone who has experienced something similar:

  1. Has any Pakistani national received approval for a Dubai mainland investor/partner visa in September or October 2026?

  2. Has anyone successfully obtained visa approval after submitting a GDRFA reconsideration request?

  3. What does "Rejected by Administration" actually mean? Is it a nationality-related restriction or an individual immigration decision?

  4. Is reconsideration reviewed by a senior immigration officer?

  5. Does owning an established mainland business with employees and regular business activity help during reconsideration?

  6. If reconsideration is rejected, are there any other legitimate options for a business owner to obtain residency?

I'm particularly interested in real experiences from Pakistani business owners, applicants, and experienced PROs, rather than generic advice or advertisements from visa agents.

If anyone has successfully gone through reconsideration, please share your experience, processing time, and the documents you submitted.

I would genuinely appreciate any helpful information. Thank you!

If you’re earning AED 50K–100K+ per month in Dubai from a regular job, what did your career journey actually look like?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I’m genuinely curious to hear the stories of people in Dubai earning AED 50K, AED 100K, or even more per month through a regular salaried job. I’m not talking about business owners, investors, or people who inherited wealth. I mean people who built a career and reached that level through employment.

I want to understand how the journey actually unfolded.

Most people around the world graduate somewhere between 18 and 24. After that, everyone starts somewhere, but I’m curious about what happens between graduation and reaching a salary like this.

For example, if you come from a developed country, particularly a Western country, did you arrive in Dubai with little or no regional experience and immediately land a job paying AED 10K–20K or more? Or did you go through the process of recruiters asking for UAE experience, struggling to get interviews, and being offered AED 3.5K–5K salaries for entry-level positions, as many people experience as freshers'

And how did your salary progress over the years? Did you switch companies every couple of years? Did you work your way up internally? Did your qualifications make a significant difference, or was it more about the industry, connections, and the companies you worked for?

I’m equally interested in hearing from people who grew up in developing countries, particularly South Asia, and eventually reached this salary range. Did you start in your home country, gain experience for several years, and then move to Dubai? Did you arrive here on a visit visa and struggle through low-paying jobs before finding better opportunities? How many years did it take you to reach your current position?

How much of our career trajectory is determined by our own decisions, and how much is influenced by circumstances we never chose?

No hate, no judgment, and no intention to turn this into a nationality-versus-nationality argument. I’m genuinely interested in understanding the different paths people took to reach the same destination.

For those living and working in the Middle East, what does your long-term plan look like?

Post image
14 Upvotes

I’m genuinely curious to hear different perspectives from people at different stages of their careers and financial journeys.

For example, people earning around

1) AED 30K–50K+ per month
2) AED 15K–25K,
3) AED 5K–10K,
4) below AED 5K.

When you first came to the Middle East, what were your goals, and how have they changed over time?

Are you planning to build a business, invest, buy property, achieve financial independence, settle back in your home country someday, or explore opportunities elsewhere? Or do you see yourself living here for the long term?

I’d especially love to hear from people who have spent years building their careers, savings, and lives here. Once you reach a certain level of stability, how do you think about the next chapter of your life?

There’s no right or wrong answer. I’m simply interested in understanding how people at different income levels approach their future and what they’re ultimately working towards.

What does your long-term vision look like, and what are you building towards?
