Why do people flash their headlights at you in EVERY lane?

I drive a small car, and never drive in the fast lane.. and yet I experienced getting flashed and pressured by the car behind in EVERY lane.

And I don't just mean on the highway. They flash between:

solid white lines where you can't even change lanes.

In the exit lane.

Right in front of speed cameras (expect me to go faster than speed limit?)

On curved bridges.

Inside intersections.

At roundabouts, U-turns, merging lanes.

Basically anywhere a normal human being would slow down for half a second, someone behind decides that's the perfect moment to flash their high beams.

Honest question from expensive car owners and educated drivers? You can afford a nice car but you can't afford 5 seconds of patience?

The worst one: once at 5 AM in pitch dark and heavy fog, I'm turning left at an intersection from 2nd lane. as soon the signal turn green, The car behind me starts flashing and blasting the horn. I got flustered, missed the road lines, and went straight onto the walkway infront of a camera. luckily it didn't flashed.

Why can't people be considerate in difficult turnings or tricky situations? Flashing your lights doesn't make me drive better, it makes me drive worse.

Is it just me, or has basic road patience completely disappeared?

Money isn’t happiness

For the past few years all I could think of was money. But today, I received a raise out of the blue.. and it means nothing to me. Yes is because I’m privileged enough but my point is that the hole in your heart is yearning for something much deeper

PEP medication in ajman Dubai or sharjah

Oh my God somebody please help me. Please please please please. Please. Please. Please please please please. I might have been exposed to HIV and it's a very high risk situation. I've already been through the first 24 hours now and I've been from hospital to hospital from clinic to clinic trying to get this stupid medication that nobody has. No one has any idea what to do. No one knows where to go. No one has any information. They all just say no we can't help. You know we don't have it. It needs to be administered within 72 hours and the best window is the first 24 hours and I did my due diligence and no one will help me. No one will help me. No one will help me. No one will help me. Where the hell do you get this medication in the UAE?

If you’re earning AED 50K–100K+ per month in Dubai from a regular job, what did your career journey actually look like?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I’m genuinely curious to hear the stories of people in Dubai earning AED 50K, AED 100K, or even more per month through a regular salaried job. I’m not talking about business owners, investors, or people who inherited wealth. I mean people who built a career and reached that level through employment.

I want to understand how the journey actually unfolded.

Most people around the world graduate somewhere between 18 and 24. After that, everyone starts somewhere, but I’m curious about what happens between graduation and reaching a salary like this.

For example, if you come from a developed country, particularly a Western country, did you arrive in Dubai with little or no regional experience and immediately land a job paying AED 10K–20K or more? Or did you go through the process of recruiters asking for UAE experience, struggling to get interviews, and being offered AED 3.5K–5K salaries for entry-level positions, as many people experience as freshers'

And how did your salary progress over the years? Did you switch companies every couple of years? Did you work your way up internally? Did your qualifications make a significant difference, or was it more about the industry, connections, and the companies you worked for?

I’m equally interested in hearing from people who grew up in developing countries, particularly South Asia, and eventually reached this salary range. Did you start in your home country, gain experience for several years, and then move to Dubai? Did you arrive here on a visit visa and struggle through low-paying jobs before finding better opportunities? How many years did it take you to reach your current position?

How much of our career trajectory is determined by our own decisions, and how much is influenced by circumstances we never chose?

No hate, no judgment, and no intention to turn this into a nationality-versus-nationality argument. I’m genuinely interested in understanding the different paths people took to reach the same destination.

Is this legal?! Lexus Taxi driver charged 129 AED & used a personal phone app (Zina) to take card payment!

Post image

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a frustrating experience I had taking a taxi from **Dubai Mall to Al Rigga (Al Ghurair Mall)** to warn both tourists and residents. Something shady is definitely going on here.
Here is exactly what happened:

**1st Lexus Taxi:** Asked for 70 AED flat bill before starting. (I declined).

**2nd Lexus Taxi:** Driver approached me and said he had a meter, so I trusted him.
**Me:** How much going to Al Rigga (Al Ghurair Mall)?
**Driver:** This is same taxi, have meter, no worries!
**Me:** Ok, fine.
(We reached Al Rigga / Al Ghurair Mall, and he showed me the phone screen.)
**Me:** How much?
**Driver:** 129 AED!
**Me:** WHATTTT?! Seriously?
**Driver:** Yes, this is luxury and Lexus, why you shocked?
**Me:** Bro, are you OK?
**Driver:** Yes, why you complaining? You not know Lexus car?
**Me:** I know, but one guy with the same Lexus car asked me for 70 AED. What is your good name?
**Driver:** *What your asking? You have problem to me?! (Starts yelling at me)*
**Me:** Bro, calm down! I’m just asking because I have a good friend from RTA so I can ask about this!
**Driver:** *(Instantly changes tone)* Ok, I give you only 100 AED, ok?
**Me:** Ok fine... *(I didn't have a choice at that point)*
*(He takes out his personal phone and opens the ZINA app instead of using the car terminal)*
**Me:** Why are you not using the card machine?
**Driver:** No, no, because finish battery!
**Me:** Ok, please show me the bill, I want to take a photo.
**Driver:** Why?
**Me:** I need to reimburse only to my company! *(Tried to hide the phone, but I took the photo anyway)*
*(I paid via Tap-to-Pay on his phone and left)*

**My Questions:**

  1. Is it legal for a taxi/limo driver to use a personal phone app like **ZINA** to tap card payments instead of using the official RTA card terminal?
  2. Looking closely at the picture I snapped, his app shows **"Edit fare"** and a **1.48x surge pricing** manually applied on a private device!

Initially, he asked for cash payment, but I told him I only had a card. If this is illegal, please be aware of guys like this. I really hope RTA catches drivers who pull this stunt.
It might not seem like a massive amount of money, but imagine if a tourist who trusts the system falls for this every day. If he gets 8 customers a day doing this, imagine how much extra money he is pocketing per month!

Let's all stand up for what's fair and honest in life.

**Has anyone else encountered this issue in Dubai recently?**

Petition to bring an official Pokémon Center to the UAE

Post image
4 Upvotes

As a Pokémon TCG fan in the UAE, I've found that getting products at reasonable prices can be a real challenge. Availability is limited, and some products are listed at substantial markups compared with their original retail prices.

I'd love to see The Pokémon Company International explore an official Pokémon Center presence in the UAE, whether through an official local online store or eventually a physical retail location.

I'm not asking for identical prices worldwide. I understand that taxes, logistics, and distribution costs differ between markets. I just want UAE fans to have better access to authentic products, reliable new-release availability, and fairer retail pricing.

I've started a petition to gauge community support and show that there is interest in the region:

https://www.ipetitions.com/p/bring-pokemon-center-to-the-uae-fair-prices-official-produ/

For collectors outside the UAE: How does your local Pokémon TCG market work? Does having official retail access make a meaningful difference to availability and prices?

I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts!

I cannot reschedule my flight as I have a connecting flight to my hometown and need to show up for some bank related paperwork.

Vox Ticket Issue Advice

Hey everyone. I just purchased movie tickets and the payment went through, but I never got the tickets—and the seats aren’t even blocked.

I reached out to customer service, and they said the payment was unsuccessful, so I’ll get a refund within 24 hours. That means no tickets for now.

Should I try again? I’m a little nervous it might glitch out once more. Has anyone else run into this, or is it pretty common?

Is it just me or is making genuine friends in Dubai actually hard? 😂

Genuine question because I didn’t expect this when I moved to Dubai.
There are so many people here and so many things to do, but when you don’t know anyone, even something as simple as playing padel becomes complicated. I wanted to play, but literally had nobody to go with 😅 Same with going to the beach, trying new restaurants or just doing something on a random weekend.
And it’s not that people are unfriendly. Everyone seems busy, people come and go, and building a genuine circle can take months, sometimes even years.
That’s actually what made me start working on IRLY, an app I’m building to help people in Dubai find others who want to do the same activities, whether it’s padel, going out, exploring new places or simply meeting new people. The idea is to make it easier to go from “I want to do something” to actually finding people to do it with.
I’m not posting this to sell anything. I’m genuinely curious because this is a problem I’ve experienced myself.
For those who moved to Dubai without knowing anyone, how did you build your circle? And would something like IRLY actually be useful to you, or do you think existing groups and apps already do the job? Be honest 😂

End of service gratuity by cheque instead of bank transfer?

A family member recently lost his job at a government entity due to visa issues. They have an outstanding bank loan, and the bank automatically deducts the loan payment as soon as their salary is deposited.
They have always kept up with their loan payments, but they urgently need their end-of-service gratuity to cover rent and support their family while regularizing their visa status.
Is it legally possible to request the gratuity by cheque instead of having it transferred to their bank account? Has anyone dealt with a similar situation?
Thanks in advance!

How can I find remote AutoCAD drafting jobs?

Hey guys!
I’m from Dhaka, Bangladesh, and I’m trying to find remote work as an AutoCAD drafter.
I can do civil/structural drafting, RCC drawings, and steel structure detailing. I also have my own PC and can work remotely.
I’m just wondering where people usually find these types of jobs, especially with clients from the UAE, US, UK, Europe, or other countries.
If anyone here works remotely in this field, could you share some tips on how to get started or where to look for clients?
Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks! 🙏

Xiaomi or Apple watch for fitness and sleep tracking?

I train 6 days a week (strength training, reformer, padel, tennis, cycling) and I'm buying my first smartwatch. I'm in the Apple ecosystem but want to try Xiaomi.

If you use a Xiaomi watch for similar training, how accurate is the tracking? Which model would you recommend, and any regrets compared to Apple?

Looking for real experience for UAE users, not specs.

Thank you!

Can the 15mg pen purchased here be used for a lower dosage e.g. using the pen to administer 2.5mg instead (less clicks)? Or does the pen make you administer the full 15mg dosage each time?

Consumer Protection

Hello everyone,
I would like to ask if anyone has experienced a similar situation.

If you purchased a service package from a clinic or service provider but decided not to proceed with all the included procedures, and requested a refund for the services that were not performed, how did you handle the situation?

What options are available if the establishment refuses the refund based on a non-refundable policy or a signed agreement?

Were you able to resolve the matter through consumer protection or another government authority in Sharjah? If so, I would appreciate hearing about the process and what helped you resolve it.

I am particularly interested in hearing from people who have personally experienced and resolved a similar dispute.

Thank you.
