I've never been to any Tall meetups. I'm geographically close enough to this one. I'm on the bubble but I'll know for sure tomorrow if I can attend.
Anyone ever been to this group's meetup, and/or anyone from this sub going ?

Can't see the lights when I stand close enough to touch the buttons (and the buttons are pretty much unreadable because they are in the shade).

I’ve started volunteering on a decommissioned aircraft carrier that’s turned into a museum(The USS Midway) and it’s so high key hazardous as a tall person. I constantly have to duck, hunch over and make sure to try and not bonk my head on things. I’m not even that tall, I can’t imagine what it would be like if I was taller. What was it like for any tall Navy or Marine veterans? Were you constantly uncomfortable and having to watch your head?? Everyone seems to have been made ergonomically with average height or below people exclusively in mind.

Obviously we all know we need a tall ceiling. But I never realized just how many houses can’t even support 6 foot 3.

forsure losing weight won't make your bones grow longer, but I wonder how much pressure weight puts on the spine, making an individual "lose height".

Recently I’ve been made aware that I kind of hold my head in a weird way when I walk, where I keep my head kind of pushed forward and down. Now when I sit at my desk I keep my posture in check because I didn’t want more back and neck problems but when I walk I sort of automate back to the weird neck position.
After some time I noticed that it might be because when I duck beneath short obstacles I take that exact position and don’t revert back. Should I duck differently or does anyone have a tip on how to get rid of that behavior?

In america they have signs for wet floors which got me thinking anything under 8 feet above the ground should have caution signs for us as well. I shouldn't have to feel the need to wear a helmet just to walk into a place

I was shopping last week and heard a group of guys who were walking in my direction. One of them told another to go talk to me, then the other guy said no because I’m too tall. They’re all around my height (5’10”) btw. I’m not looking for male attention/to be asked out, but it just made me feel bad because they were loud enough for me to hear it and then I had to walk past them like I didn’t hear them and see them watching me. Anyone else experience stuff like this?
Working from home puts me in a desk chair for most of the day. At 6'2" and 300 lbs I've spent two years trying to make a normal office chair fit instead of buying yet another one. Some of it worked.
What worked. Raising the desk on risers so the armrests could come up with it. Before that my shoulders were up around my ears by lunch.
A taller gas cylinder, which I didn't know was a thing you could buy until a coworker mentioned it, and my knees stopped sitting higher than my hips. Moving the lumbar pillow way higher than the instructions say. On a chair built around someone 5'10", lumbar lands on my belt.
Seat cushions, every one of them. They made the seat shorter, and the front edge was already ending mid thigh.
Also the big and tall ergonomic chairs at the office store. Wider seat, same short depth, same backrest that stops somewhere around my mid back. Big and tall mostly means big.
The height range is the part I now check on every tall person office chair page. Most of them top out around 6'0" or 6'1". The Lavenne R9 Pro is one of the few that lists more, 160 to 190 cm (about 6'3") and a 350 lb rating, so on paper both numbers clear me with a little room. From what I can tell it only launched recently, and a spec sheet still doesn't tell me where my legs actually end up.
For the 6'2" and up people working from home, what did you change on the chair you already had, and what made you give up on it?

Like for a 5‘9” guy who lies about being 5’10” or 11” , i feel this is the most common. short guys like to give themselves 2 inches z
im short tall im only 184.5 just above 6 foot but when i wear shoes im about 186cm and my 5’11” friends who say there 6 foot then claim im 6’2” when im barely even scratching 6’1”, so it makes me feel like a fraud
also that brings me to another point do any short tall guys feel like a fraud when people call you tall bc i do lol especially bc my friends are all taller than me

Hi tall people!
My son started kindergarten this year. He is pretty active and wants to try some sports. He's already tall for his age, but the doctor expects him to grow to be about 6'6-6'8". My husband is 6'8". I'd love for my son to try different things and see what he enjoys. But some suggestions for tall kids would be appreciated. May as well use the advantage he has!
Thanks all!

Hey guys, I'm around 5'8, 14 and AFAB, and i hate it. I feel like there's a general vibe of 'oh, you're transmasc so you're lucky you're already tall' but i just hate it so much.
i started getting very insecure and self-conscious when i was 11, i was 5'4 then but i was way taller than all of my friends. it was especially bad around then- i would try to be sitting down as much as i possibly could to avoid having to look down on someone shorter.
i still feel incredibly awkward, and the constant comments don't help. there's so much love and support for shorter people who aren't happy with their height. i feel like everyone wants to be tall but i just hate it so much! i know i should be thankful but i feel like i would give almost anything to be shorter.
does anyone relate to this? i feel so awful with my body

Sure, like I'm going to smack the middle of my forehead full on with the side of the aircraft. Or whatever.
I am pretty damn good at watching my head. I almost never hit it. When normal sized people are in low areas, they hit their head all the time btw. Just because they are not used to watching it.
If anything, I have ducking tics by now. I realized I was ducking my head when walking out of the squat rack at the gym, so I checked, and I have a full inch of clearance.
The one place I've hit my head with some regularity is when I'm doubly distracted. Like carrying a large object down a set of low ceiling stairs. But that's happened enough that I know to watch my head there too.
I'm tall, but not that tall. I wonder if people like 6'10" get told to watch their head or if people just trust they can take care of themselves on that point by now.

Don’t get me wrong it can definitely be annoying a lot of the time; especially when I’m running errands just want to be left alone. A lot of the times it’s been a great conversation started. It can be a very easy way to pivot into sports, clothes and other things. I’ve had a lot of great interactions with people. I’m quite extroverted as well, so I don’t mind any excuse to yap with someone.
I’m 6’6 which isn’t much here but in my middle of nowhere town that makes me stand out a bit. I met one guy who was 6’11 and pretty much acted the same way people act around me, so I get it. Ok it’s 5 am I need to sleep bye bye.

I'm not tall by any imagination (I'm 5' 9", though it says 5' 10" on my license 🤷🏾♂️). I joined this group a while ago just to learn about other's experiences living in that upper atmosphere. To be honest, I never truly realized the difficulties (physically and mentally) that you guys might have. It's very interesting to get a point of view on something I'll never experience.

My son is 16 and wears a size 14. Not exaggerated. Where do you guys buy really cushy socks ?

I'm just tall enough to be face level with most people's umbrellas and their general lack of spacial awareness.
The time I get knocked in the head by an umbrella is already unreasonable, but when I go to the local market it's the worst. Full of old people, I've been hit straight in the face and almost lost my glasses. The next time I think I'm gonna put the ombrella up the owner's ass
