galleryJust a compilation of pics from the past 2 years that REALLY show off how short I am. Plus an excuse to share some of these bangers.

So this subreddit keeps appearing on my feed, probably because I’m a short man at 166 cm who follows men’s fashion pages and similar content.
Honestly, if I had found this side of the internet before I started dating in the real world, I probably would have stayed a virgin. According to some of the people here, I should be completely doomed anyway. I’m short, bald, and I have crooked teeth.
And yet I have dated women of different heights, including women taller than me.
I’m also a university lecturer, and I read a lot of research on dating, mate preferences, and social status. So here is the scientific version, not the black pill fantasy version.
Yes, height matters. Preferences are real. Women, like men, can have physical preferences, and pretending otherwise is stupid. But research does not support the idea that one trait like height determines your entire dating future. Actual partner choice is shaped by multiple factors at once, including kindness, intelligence, emotional stability, dependability, confidence, physical attraction, and social or economic stability (Buss & Schmitt, 2019; Thomas et al., 2020).
Research also shows that what people say they want does not perfectly predict who they actually choose when interacting in real life. In speed dating studies, stated preferences often did not line up neatly with actual attraction once people met face to face (Eastwick & Finkel, 2008). In other words, attraction in the real world is messier and more human than internet forums want to admit.
Online spaces and dating apps also distort reality. They push people to judge each other quickly and superficially, which exaggerates traits like height. That does not mean the entire dating market works that way offline (Finkel et al., 2012).
To quote my therapist, life is basically a big Souls game and height is just a debuff. Yes, it can make things harder. Yes, you will probably get your ass kicked a few more times than someone playing on easier settings. But that does not mean the game is unwinnable. It just means you may need more patience, more resilience, and a better strategy. And honestly, where is the fun in beating the game with no debuffs?
I have been rejected plenty of times, and height probably played a role in some of those rejections. I say probably because I do not interrogate rejection or obsess over the reason. I am not going to ask someone to explain why they did not want me. That is their choice. Other people are allowed to have preferences, and I do not need to internalise every rejection as a verdict on my worth. At the end of the day, only you get to decide your value in this world.
I have also been through a period of height insecurity myself. After a recent rejection, I went down the rabbit hole of self loathing, so I do understand how dark that headspace can get. But how we feel is not always a perfect reflection of reality. Feelings, emotions, and thought patterns can spiral, and they can also be challenged and changed. Therapy helped me see that. With the right support, self awareness, and work, the way you think about yourself can improve.
What these spaces often ignore is how much insecurity changes the way a person comes across. Neediness, resentment, bitterness, and defeatism are not attractive qualities, and they can do more damage than being a few inches below average.
That is why the advice to men should not be “give up.” It should be “build a life that makes you attractive in a broader sense.” Work on your confidence. Go to therapy if you need it. Practice mindfulness. Focus on your career, not because women are gold diggers, but because ambition, competence, and financial stability signal drive and maturity. Take care of your physical health. Read more. Volunteer. Join communities. Get involved in causes you genuinely care about. Expand your social circles and meet women in real spaces, not just through algorithms and rage bait.
And if you are constantly hitting a wall, take a break from dating for a bit. Reset. Rebuild your confidence. Get your head straight. Stop treating every bad experience like proof that the whole world works one way.
Most importantly, women are not a hive mind. One woman rejecting you does not mean all women think the same. A subreddit full of bitter men is not an accurate sample of reality. People have different preferences, different priorities, and different reasons for being attracted to someone.
Also, be careful with research in general. Research can help us identify trends, but human beings are more complex than a dataset or a single paper. Averages are not destiny, context matters, and how old the research is matters too. Social norms, dating culture, and the way people meet have changed a lot over time, especially with apps and social media. So use research to inform your thinking, not to reduce yourself or other people to a rigid formula.
The point is simple. Height can be a disadvantage. It is not a death sentence. A lot of men are not being ruined by height alone. They are being ruined by an identity built around insecurity, hopelessness, and too much time spent listening to other defeated men online.

Ok, I'm stuck at my desk with a bum foot that's been plaguing me for weeks now, so I might as well try to make this time at least a bit productive.
So since I ain't going anywhere, let's have a meta discussion about the sub, and I'll take this opportunity to solicit suggestions.

Life’s too short to spend it worrying about being short. Get out there, pursue what matters to you, and make the most of what you’ve got. There’s a whole lot more to life than your height.

It’s very rare that I encounter someone shorter than me (5’1), but when I do, I have the greatest urge to pick them up and put them in my pocket for safekeeping. I don’t know why I feel this way and I am sorry to the sub-5’1 community; I would never actually do that.

I think it's kinda funny sometimes when you're reading rants from people on this subreddit about how their height is limiting and whatnot and then the person making the rant is taller than you, and then you just reading the post like
When I wear short skirts I feel like I'm 5'2" instead of 4'10"😂. Not exactly sure why. Maybe cause I can see my legs more?
But yeah I vibed so hard with my outfit in the first pic. Unfortunately the glasses broke though😭

Just wanted to share my own experience with the men who've given up on dating. My (18) boyfriend (18) are both 5'2, and we both don't care. My father and mother are fairly short (about 5'5 for her and 5'8 for him) and so are his. We never had problems regarding height and never argued about it. Neither of us will grow taller since we both were borderline malnourished as children, so that's off the table. We are getting married in about 5 years. It is possible, you're just too focused on superficial shit to make it reality!

As much as I’m in the gym, literally in between sets as I type this.. my friends tell me that I could easily meet someone here.. only issue I see is that the women are making eye contact with practically every man but me.
My height (5’6) is the thing that makes me invisible.. I’m not in bad shape, I’m a little older (39) but you’d think I’d catch at least one old lady looking, been single for over two years.. nothing but ghostings and laughs since my coke head ex dumped me after I found out she was using again..
So sick of it.. I’m not ready to face this phase alone.. I just don’t know what to do.. I’ve put myself out there, singles events etc.. I even play and sing in a cover band, you’d think that’d get some attention but not a peep.. the music thing seems to be a repellent at this point. Younger women don’t want me, not good enough for the divorced cougars because they divorced men that look like me.
Can’t keep going on alone..

I am a female and guys make fun of me for my height (I'm a senior in high school and guys always troll me) I feel like my height brings my attractiveness down. Does my height make me loom bad in dresses? does it make me less attractive? I am 5'2

I have to ask if I'm gonna be outta the dating pool due to this. I've got a 50/50 on losing my hair in my early 20s (I'm 19 currently), or when I'm 40. I'm 5'1 and a trans bloke, so I fear that adding bald onto it means I'm in a "3 strikes and you're out" of getting any sort of girlfriend, especially since my old friends mocked me relentlessly over my height to the point I'm insecure af now, lol.
If any other short fellas (or ladies!) have got some reassurance or kind words it's appreciated. :) Have a good day.
edit: i take testosterone. this can cause balding.

I say this as a 37 yo 5’5 male. I’ve had dates this year with different women and they all called me short in some way. However, I truly don’t care and know I’m short. So, when they say it, I don’t even acknowledge it and they know it doesn’t phase me. Then, what happens next is magical. They don’t bring it up anymore. However, I did have one girl that would tease me about it, but it was flirtatious, and she knew I didn’t give af.
Just own your height. I’m 5’5 and bald and don’t care. Women like when you don’t care about what you can’t change. They want someone mentally stable because that brings security.

I always write long paragraphs wanting to rant bc no one cares to listen but I end up deleting them in the end.
I’ll try to be concise but I just want to get something out of my system.
It really hurts being short and being thought of as inferior by people especially my family

I'm M23 and 5'2, and I've never even tried approaching a girl in my entire life because I'm too short and scared of rejection. I've been living like this for years. Whenever I like a girl, I don't even try to talk to her and reject myself because I feel like my height is already a disadvantage. Whenever I see couples outside, I can't help but wonder, man, why don't I have someone who loves me too?
I know a lot of girls prefer tall, handsome guys, and that makes me feel like I don't stand a chance. Sometimes, I see couples and wonder why I can't have that kind of love in my life.
So lately, I've been wondering if I should just give up on love and accept that I'll spend my entire life single. Being single isn't anything new to me since I've lived this way for 23 years, but sometimes I still wish I had someone who genuinely loved me.
I don't know if I'm overthinking this or if my height really will make dating that difficult for me. Should I keep hoping that I'll find someone someday, or should I just accept my situation and stop worrying about finding love?

Im 5'3 as a 15 yr old and i know damn well i wont get taller, my mom is below 5 ft and my dad is 5'3, people tell me i look good and all that but i feel like im not in the same tier of a human than others is, im not the shortest in class (since im in south east asia) but i feel nervoused as to what im going to do when i grow up, I've been planning on moving out of my country which makes me nervous as other countrys have a higher height scale or smth and I'll stand out as a small guy. Sometimes at general Assemblys where we all stand up i feel like im more of the comedic relief guy and not someone worth taking seriously, no one i know feel the same and i feel like im alone in this perspective i have . One of the main motivation i have on being rich is js to have a height surgery to at least minimize the hate i have for this body im cursed with until i decay.

Somebody please give me advice and support. I'm 5'0. I hate it. I feel inferior to all men who are taller than me. I want to be strong and capable. I don't want to be strong relative to my body weight, I want to be the guy who lifts the heaviest. I know height doesn't really stop me from gaining muscle, but it sucks to be short. It makes me cry so very often. I feel incapable and inferior. I could live with 5'6, I like calling myself short king, I could maybe even feel confident with 5'4, but 5'0? No. And there's nothing I can do about it. I lack self confidence. And my growth plates are closed for sure. I never even had a growth spurt, I've always been the shortest at school, the shortest anywhere. My brother has outgrown me and after that happened my mom started asking him to get things down from the top shelf instead of asking me. I want to be the capable one. I want to be respected. I want to be comfortable in my own body. Why is it so hard?
Do any of y'all have serious trouble getting through/existing in large crowds safely, because of being shorter than everyone? Any tricks you picked up?
I love going out dancing and to other fun events but I have had times where larger people have almost fallen on me. Should I just try and stick to the outer rim of large crowds? For reference I am 4'10"

We only live once, our whole consciousness and chance to feel, exist and experience lays in this lifetime, why would YOU ever even consider giving a fuck about what any other soul thinks? Their WORDS are VIBRATIONS coming from a BRAIN SIGNAL to the THROAT, which they MUSTERED based on their BIASED OPINIONS and prior PERSONAL EXPERIENCES. Really, nobody can be bothered with this world view, or atleast I can't. 5 foot 7, hear something offensive on my stature? Look them up and down, don't laugh because they'll get validation and think that it's alright, but don't get offended because then you'd be giving a fuck. Just don't acknowledge them, change topic or whatever the fuck you want because again, you can't be bothered with bullshit. Just enjoy your life. Anyone who has to shit on others for height is insecure/ a bitch

Last Wednesday I am at work in our office location. I work in the banking industry. I am a 5’5” guy on a good day. I am a white asian fit male, generally quiet and mind my own business, do my work, and go home.
Picture this, I am in the cafeteria area making a cup of cappuccino, standing there waiting for it to be ready. Along comes a random colleague, who I dont know, what department she works in, never interacted with her really, my whole 8 years so far at this company.
Female African American coworker, who is at least 5’8” - “Hey you doing Ok today? You’re kinda quiet.”
Me - “Uh, yeah thanks. Just tired.”
Her - Looks at me up and down and goes, “Oh you sure are short! But thats OK!” Saying this in a completely i-feel-sorry-for-you type of way unwarranted.
Me - absolutely speechless. All I could muster was a chuckle, a smile, grabbed my cappuccino and walked away.
The asshole in me wanted to make a comment about her weight in an alternate universe, but I keep work settings professional.

I'm relatively young and currently not in the dating scene at all. However, I am worried that in the future when I start looking for relationships, I am going to be fetishised by creeps who like petite women because we look younger than we are. Can any short ladies help me with this fear?

I just turned 14m like 1 or 2 months ago and people are saying 5'3 at 14m is short. I feel so cooked 🍳
