Here are my RE-909 sequencer and voice boards. I have a nasty hum on my trigger out that I'm trying to locate so thoroughly going through each instrument to see where the voltage leak is occurring. I thought some of you might find the internals interesting.

I am by no means anything more then a strange tinker-er with music/things... ordered this last month before all the firmware exploded onto the internet. So far, it's fun, small and portable too.

...and I think this was the best decision. Finally, I am having joy again: turning knobs, moving sliders, sculpting the sound, jamming like a kid. There is something magical in this tactile feedback, working with real instruments. I couldn't afford it earlier, still most of my synths are rather cheap, but these little creatures bring the spark back :)

Making music with hardware synths has truly been a game-and-life changer for me. The fluidity and connection with physical instruments has deeply transformed my experience creating, performing and enjoying music.

This clip here is a little fragment from a recent set with VEEM, our live hardware trio. This is an ambient section we did during our 1h35min set, which spanned different variants of techno and breaks. The setup included 2x Elektron Digitone 2, 1x Analog Rytm, 1x Digitakt, 1x Octatrack, 1x Novation Peak, 1x Arturia Keystep and a Behringer Xenyx 16 channel mixer.

This isn't a full on review or a tour of the MicroMonsta 2, there are many features I don't talk about or touch on, this is just me having some fun. Building a couple of pad-like patches and playing them in bi-timbral mode.

So I wanted to get myself a cheap synthesizer for dungeon synth, keller synth etc. I also can't really play keys and only play guitar but I want to learn how to play on them. And recently found this casio for $19 in the good condition (I don't live in the USA, I just converted the price from my currency to dollars). Is this synth any good? thanks in advance

I couldn’t afford a SH-101 lmao, but it goes well with my Yamaha SY77. It’s my first time posting here, my SY77 was my first big synth ! Can’t wait to create music with my MS-1 tho hihi

How is the menu diving in the MM2 ? Similar to an elektron digi box ?

How useful do you find each in covering certain type of sound ?

I would use them routed into ableton move, so external FX and sequencer available, also using a launchkey 61 mk2 so eventually having more hands on controls.

I personally produce mostly 90 inspired deep house, old-ish progressive house/trance, with peak time/rave or detroit vibe.

I've been working on a new OS for Ensoniq Mirage samplers, and now it's ready: Orovela
(No video yet -- maybe someone with more free time will make one.)

Orovela replaces the complicated multisample structure of the stock OS with a simple workflow.

Sample a sound and it's mapped across the whole keyboard in a single layer, like a Casio SK-1 with analog filters and a much better synth engine.

It also makes every parameter editable live from the mod wheel (and/or MIDI CC1). You can finally sweep the filter, alter LFO parameters, and change envelope values with a continuous controller.

I added some other cool features:

• Reverse sample playback
• More LFO waveforms (triangle, saw up/down, square, random), simultaneous destinations (amp, cutoff, res, pitch), and a wider speed range
• Bipolar pitch envelope
• Velocity to filter cutoff and resonance
• More flexible detuning, including detune drift
• Utility functions: octave +/- shift, MIDI panic

Its top sample rate is 15.5 kHz, but now a disk image holds 10 programs (sample + params).

In addition, Orovela Sample Manager is a Windows programs that can:

• Create new Orovela programs from samples on disk
• Combine up to 10 programs into a new Orovela disk image
• Save Orovela programs to disk from a disk image
• Extract samples from an Orovela disk image

The link at the top has source code, but also a disk image ready for loading into a USB floppy emulator, plus docs and the sample manager executable.

Developed and tested on a DSK-1 keyboard variant, but I expect it to work on all Mirage models.
