The beach may be gone from erosion but the Wedge is still cranking out the sets.

im "only" about 90 minutes away by car but i grew up three blocks away from the beach.
got married, had a family and now live a good 90 minutes away. i miss the ocean. the smell, the views, the more laid back lifestyle and i desperately wish i could share that with my kids.
wife doesn't feel the same and would be happy to stay where we are forever.
can anyone relate?

There's a really good reef break in my country that pumps. It has a solid local crew, which is good because it helps organise the lineup, but I've heard it can get pretty tense and that conflicts sometimes happen.
I've never personally had an issue there or anywhere else in the world, to be honest, but knowing that beforehand makes me a bit anxious when I paddle out. I feel like I'm not surfing to my full potential because I'm too conscious of what's going on around me.
Has anyone else experienced this? How do you get over it?

Whats up, I just got a used Too Fish by Rob and this thing is wild. It’s pretty mint but just think i got it too big at 5’5”. I wanted a fish to hold up in the 4-6ft range of paddling power and sturdiness compared to my 5’1” hand shaped fish. The fins that were on it were not the Rob Machado keels made for it, but I did just pick those up and will be surfing it tomorrow to see. I do think either way I would love to size down to either 5’4 or 5’3.
If anyone is in SoCal and wants to trade, let me know! I know it’s a stretch but just got it and it’s just a tad too big.

Might have to move to San Jose for work. Would like to continue surfing 2-3 times a week, ideally before work, with one of those on the weekend. Also have a bunch of friends in SF so would like to be able to get there easily to hangout on the weekends or potentially week nights? Any thoughts for people who live up there? Is this a pipe dream?

Moving back to a cold water location soon, so in the market. Always wore oniell suits before but want to try out a suit with yamamoto. Have a thin waist, bigger chest, wider shoulders. Any reccs for which brand fits better?

So ive bought an inferno 72 (5’11 32L) which I have been having an absolute blast riding and im looking to get a step down board… ive found that the inferno actually goes well on waves from like 3ft but I want a more forgiving board, flatter rocker, maybe a vee off the tail but essentially a small wave playful but aggressive groveler (in a light construction with some good spring and durability)… I have thought of the following: chilli bv2, rnf 96 (maybe blacksheep but saw a used libtech for sale, firewire seaside/sp2 , sharpeye modern 2.5 and the Superbrand Spam…
Anyone that has an inferno can help me decide on something that does not overlap that much? Bc if its good enough i will be taking the inferno out most days I think.

My sister and I are off next week for 5 days looking for a quick rip somewhere warm to surf. PR forecast looking good but what are the vibes like at Playa Jobos? I've been once but it was 6 years ago. Our other option is Cabo area - never been though - any recos?

As the title reads, I bought an “Xcel 5/4 Infiniti Hooded” wetsuit last November, kept me warm and comfy through the coldest winter that the Northeast US has experience in decades - they did not lie when they marketed this wetty as a workhorse of a suit.
I’m visiting some mates in Scotland so I brought my 5/4 as a backup and after a wipeout at a beach break (obviously no reef and didn’t see any large rocks nearby), the wetsuit ripped right through the outer smooth skin and cleanly exposed the inside of the wetsuit (the Radiant Rebound tech), quite gnarly. Happened on my back, near the seam but the opening cuts horizontally, not vertically through the seam where the smooth skin meets the rest of the neoprene.
Bought the wetsuit through Evo but I can appeal directly with Xcel. I even purchased with my AMEX so my warranty is technically extended for an addition year, not sure how that process works if Xcel denies my claim.
My question is has anyone gone through the warranty claim process with Xcel? Good experience? Bad experience? Did they accept the claim or just reject it? I’m worried they’ll find the smallest detail to just claim it was my fault and not a product defect. Great wetsuit but not cheap 🤷🏽♂️

Something that’s not often discussed: if you optimize the pad for a thruster setup by pushing it all the way back, if you also ride it as a quad, your back foot will be behind the fins. Conversely, if you optimize it for a quad setup and also ride it as a thruster, your back foot won’t be back enough and you will only utilize half the back fin in turns. Thoughts?

Hi guys! Looking for some advice from people who know Portugal in late autumn.
I'm a beginner-intermediate surfer (comfortable catching my own waves, can go down the line consistently, working on improving turns and overall wave reading). I spent a week in Ericeira this August and had a great time overall, but I found the surf consistency a little hit-or-miss during my stay. There were some fun sessions, but also quite a few days where conditions weren't ideal for my level.
I now have the opportunity to come back to Portugal in mid to late November and am trying to decide between:
My main goal is to maximize water time and get the most consistent, beginner-friendly/intermediate waves possible. I'm travelling solo, so having some social atmosphere is a plus, but surf quality and consistency are the priorities.
For context, I'll be coming from Denmark and I won't have a car, so I'm trying to make the most of the trip and avoid getting skunked by a run of unsuitable conditions.
Thanks in advance!

Btw I'm not naive, I know there's money in surfing. What I mean is, it's the one thing which you, as a regular person, can do, all the time, purely out of love for the game.
There's no real goal other than doing it. There's no far-off destination on the horizon like "ohh but now you have to get famous" or "you're not really doing it until you get rich." You need your body and your board: that's it.
You surf for the pleasure and that's all there is to it. You can make it your whole personality, your whole life, for 50 years if you want to. There's nothing else like that and I appreciate it.
