Kook transitions off longboard, how?
I (22) have been longboarding since I was a kid in East Coast breaks. Started on a 9'2" noserider, eventually getting a new board a few years back - 8'6" cj nelson outlier, also single fin.
I'm 205lb 6'4", get into most waves i paddle for, my pop up is serviceable, i can get down the line and make some turns no problem... but i want more
In the last month we have gotten two big swells both of which ive tried my 8'6". Caught a couple but the Outlier has virtually no rocker so it gets so sketchy when my local wave gets hollow and steep.
I feel like im ready to step down in size so i can progress into a shorter board, turn more, and hopefully pack some steeper and bigger waves within a couple years. What are your thoughts on shape, volume, length, etc?
So many thoughts online say all sorts of stuff and i dont know what to go for. Most of the time im surfing 2-4 ft in fast east coast conditions.
