Hey all! SCXtool began as a C++ rewrite of Smart Citizen and grew into something more akin to an "all in one" star citizen tool. (except for stuff like game market updates and whatnot that you'd expect from something like UEX corp.)
AI Usage:
Let me be clear and honest. AI was and is used in this project. However, I only use it to write Commit/release messages, and the wiki. I do not use it when writing code. I have Githubs CodeQL setup to provide everyone just that little extra bit of trust, but take that as you will.
Smart Citizen:
I want to start out by saying this that there is absolutely nothing wrong with Smart Citizen made by Osiris-Devworks. I helped develop Smart Citizen's UI translation backend, and thought it would be fun to challenge myself with this project. It then... evolved.
Where it matters - performance:

Now, to be frank, a lot of this is in the way SCXtool handles data. SCXtool has it's own extraction built-in to the app, not an external exe based in another programming language. We also store extracted data differently, via a singular binary database. We also only keep what the app is using.
This makes everything just slightly faster, and more efficient. I also personally like that you won't see another process open on task manager.
To give you an idea, I am running a Ryzen 7 3700x with 32GB of ram. The benchmarking tests were run on a regular windows 11 install.
Features Translated from Smart Citizen:
- Enhancement Generation: ship, mission, and loadout info directly in game
- Localization editor: allows you to personally edit the games UI strings.
- Blueprint tracker (displays both in-app and in-game)
- Mission database: Every mission currently available extracted from your .P4K
Features new from SCXtool:
- Ship Loadout maker*: Similar to erkul, but instead runs locally.*
- (WIP)Game config editor (graphics settings, keybinds and more): a work in progress, being developed privately for now.
It runs on Windows and Linux. NATIVELY
There is an AUR installer, but unfortunately AUR is not allowing new signups, so I've relegated it to a bash file. Instructions are in the readme (as well as bash source)
🔒 Security comes first:
- Fully open source (Apache 2.0). Read every line, or build it yourself.
- No telemetry, no analytics, no accounts. It never connects to CIG's servers.
- Doesn't modify game logic: it only reads `Data.p4k` and never changes it, and it doesn't touch game logic. It writes only the game's text file (`global.ini`), which it backs up first, and the language line in `user.cfg`.
- Verified updates: the updater checks every download against GitHub's published SHA-256 hash and throws away anything that doesn't match.
- Automatic code scanning: GitHub's CodeQL checks the code for security issues.
- Full transparency: everything it reads, writes and connects to is listed in [SECURITY.md](https://github.com/Ishikudeska/SCXtool/blob/main/SECURITY.md). Found a problem? Report it privately through the repo's Security tab.
- Only download it from the GitHub Releases page. The Windows build isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen will warn you.
