So, looking at the number of routes each game has, we can see a very clear pattern:

Shadow dragon and the blade of light 1 (remake of the first game so we start here)

New mystery 1

Awakening 2 (theres 2 timelines)

Fates 3

Three houses 5

Fortunes weave 8

Now, those astute of you enough to observe the pattern may recognize it. This is the fibbonnacci sequence. This means the next game will have 13 routes (after DLC) and the next 21. After that, 34. Now obviously the number 34 is incredibly important to the history of fire emblem, so anyone born before 2023 can skip the next paragraph

34 is the exact number of playable characters in the most famous and well-beloved fire emblem game: fire emblem 8: the sacred stones.

This means that 3 fire emblem games from now we will get the sacred stones remaster the people have been clamoring for, with a route for every individual character. No wonder its taking them so long!

In addition, we can follow another pattern: in awakening you never see the other route. In fates its basically pointless unless you want to do eugenics. Then in three houses the routes are seperate, while in fortunes weave you can play them together. This means the routes are getting more and more integrated, so likely FE19: Sacreder Stoners will likely have all 34 routes playing simultaneously! Now this makes sense because 34 is a rectangular number so it will fit on the average TV screen well!

As a small bonus fact: FE 18 will be another sothisverse game, and FE17 will suck bad enough ill forget to include it in my post like Engage (ive never played it, i just hate it because i saw online it sucks)
