Tech Support Downgraded a bit from 5080 to Sapphire 9070 XT Pulse. The 5080 worked perfectly. Now the 9070 XT has frequent crashes

9850X3D

Tomahawk B850 II

DDR5 Corsair 64GB 6000Mhz CL30

All worked fine with the 5080 but now the system is unstable. Not doing any OC or downclocking.

I read some of the advice and I think most of them is not acceptable:

- Degrade RAM performance to JDEC levels. How is this acceptable?

- Limit the power below stock settings. How is this acceptable?

Any other idea? Windows 11 is a fresh install. Using the latest driver.

SDK 2.4 was not released today. The release interval was the longest and exceeded the expected time from SDK 2.0 to the redstone release (SDK 2.1).

Discussion Anyone using 750w psu with 9070xt.

Please help me before i spend another bomb on psu after i gave everything i have to buy this one.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Adding some details since they probably matter: • CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X

• GPU: XFX Mercury RX 9070 XT OC, which recommends an 800W PSU

• Current PSU: Corsair HX750i 750W Platinum

• I can power the GPU with 3 separate PCIe cables, one for each 8-pin connector

• I already ordered a Gigabyte UD1000GM PG5 V2 1000W, but I can return it if I don't actually need it

• I'm not planning any GPU overclocking. I'll run it stock initially and may undervolt later for efficiency.

So the real question is: would you keep the HX750i and run the Mercury on it, or since I already have the 1000W PSU coming, would you just install that and be done with it?

Recently got gifted a 9070xt. Poor performance because of cpu bottleneck?

Hey guys. I was recently gifted a Red Devil 9070xt. My previous card was a 3060 paired with an I5 10400f 32gb ram.

I was aware I’d have a bottle neck but most games are running worse than before. Destiny 2 is nearly unplayable due to extremely low 99% fps. It feels very choppy. Is this normal behaviour? I’ve looked around and I’m seeing conflicting reports.

I appreciate your help

Edit: I used the tuning tips from a user in this thread and also enabled radeon chill to force my idle fps/fps to 80 frames. This brought my 99% fps closer and reduced choppiness (not completely, I’d still say it’s not a smooth experience). Can anyone help explain what’s happening here?

9070xt on 5k2k

I currently have a 4k monitor, I have the dell s3225qc, but I’m wanting a more immersive experience in world of Warcraft forever and looking at the Alienware 39ā€ 5k2k, currently I feel like 4k is easily drivable with the right settings, but I guess what I’m wondering is for anyone using this combo of monitor and card how does 5k2k feel with it?

Help with setting up triple screen

Hello, I recently moved from a 3070Ti to a 9070XT and I seriously find myself unable to make my screen set-up work. I have four screens in this configuration: 3+1 , so it's 3 1920x1080 that I use for simracing and one 2560x1440 that I use for shooters etc. I remember using Nvidia surround and setting the triples as one single monitor (secondary) and the QHD as the primary monitor. I've tried to run eyefinity multiple times without success. I end up with the 4x1 configuration as I can't seem to isolate the QHD screen from the eyefinity setting process. Do you know how to do it. Looking it up on Google didn't bring me anything useful since , for unknown reasons, the only relevant post was from 2013...

Tech Support Ryzen 7 9850x3d iGPU stuck on Microsoft Basic Display Adapter after DDU, while RX 9070 XT driver works correctly

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi guys,

I am having an issue with the integrated graphics on my Ryzen 7 9850X3D system.

My specs:
• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D
• GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT PULSE
• Motherboard: ASUS TUF B650-E
• OS: Windows 11 Pro

I removed my current driver using DDU and installed the latest 26.8.1 driver but for some reason, my IGPU is not recognised in task manager and shows up as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter in device manager. I have the latest chipset drivers as well so not sure what is going on. Any help would be appreciated!

Tech Support 1440p ultrawide and G-Sync issues with RX6800

• Upvotes

So I've had this issue since I can remember. Whenever I G sync on my dusplay settings and in the driver i just get random crash outs when playing. Screen just goes fuzzy like an old TV. The only way to fix is is to disable Freesync.

Does anybody here have any idea what this could be?

Im using a Samsung C34J791 3440x1440p monitor.

The only clue I got from the intelligence ia that it may be caused by using HDMI instead of DisplayPort?

Is 2k ultrawide too much for a hdmi at 100fps?

Edit: I meant FreeSync pardon my french!!

Tech Support Asrock 9070 caugh fire.

Hello everyone,

Before anything, I already contacted the store I bought the gpu and they offered a full refund.

This happened one hour ago.

So, I was browsing and using VS Code, one on each screen, and all of sudden both my screens lost the image, i heard a sparkle and then the gpu caugh fire from near the power connectors. Upon better inspection, the place near the argb connector (which I was NOT using) has burn marks. Both connectors on the gpu look fine as both cables from the gpu too.

The gpu was bought 12 days ago. I gamed maybe a total of 2 hours with this gpu, never used it for anything heavy, just work on Figma/VS Code, a couple movies/anime and browsing.

I have building my PCs for many years but never had such a scare.

1) is it recommended to replace the psu ? It is a China made Thermaltake Thoughpower BF3 850w. Been using it for 3 years. I was using the psu original cables (and no daisy chaning)

2) can anything I did be the cause of this ?

3) any recomendation in regards to test my system after that ? stress testing or anything like that ?

4) Would it be safe with a 850w psu to replace the burned 9070 with a 9070xt ? Also despite the issue, would you keep going with Asrock ?

Best regards.

Bets Pic I could take from the smoke marks

rx 9070xt with i5 12400

ok its a long story and i need help

i have rtx 3050 i5 12400 16 gb or ram evga 700bq and a 2k monitor

i like to play triple AAA games on ultra settings

i want to play gta 6 when it comes out at 2k ultra settings

that is the main reason i am upgrading

i have 1300$ usd to try to do that

i wanted rtx 5070 ti but its overpriced idk if buying it now to rely on dlss in the future or just buy a new gpu then

plus lowkey i dont wanna miss on dlss mfg dlss5 emulators anyps5 project but damn it is overpriced

the psu should i upgrade it or choose a 2 8 (6+2) pin rx 9070 xt

should i sell my cpu motherboard (which i have no experiance in selling btw) to get a good am4 cpu like ryzen 7 5700 x3d or just upgrade to a i5 14th gen to try to stay on lga 1700

of course ddr5 isnt an option rn so

is it even necessery to upgrade my cpu

as i said i really want to play GTA6 and other openwold games like CRIMSON DESERT on 2k ultra settings

side note i am used to doing that on my rtx 3050 relying on dlss and i am usually ok with 40 50 fps recent games that became soooo hard even for me to accept

sorry for taking much of your time and THANK YOU in advance

Tech Support Vulkan driver failures recently, anyone? 9070XT on 26.9.2

Hey folks. Recently I've been having a lot of crashes while running Vulkan on my 9070XT, primarily on Valve games which is where I use Vulkan the most anyway. Both Dota and Deadlock crashed my driver with VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST which would pair up with a Radeon troubleshooter/send report prompt. Anyone else having these issues these past few days? Switching games to DX11 or 12 fixed it. Driver version 26.9.2.

9070 GRE vs 9070XT upgrade - worth it?

Bought a 9070 GRE for $416 open box at micro center before taxes almost 3 weeks ago - now a 9070XT has shown up open box for $720. Both cards are powercolor reapers, my gre is still in the return window

Is it worth the upgrade with these prices? Im not exactly unsatisfied with the GRE but i am thinking about long term (16gb vs 12gb vram) and the faster gpu

Good morning everyone, I've owning my 9070 XT for a year now, and a few months ago I had the same problem, I uninstalled the drivers in order to get a new version, I used DDU and after that I installed the new drivers but after restart I couldn't do nothing, I can't open browser, discord, any game etc, in the first photo it shows the AMD software and seconds later no

Can anyone help me please? I did the same steps that work me before

  1. Secure mode

  2. DDU and clean all drivers for the GPU

  3. install the last drivers

But this time keeps happening

A person local to me is selling their PC for £1.5k. They were told it was a 9070XT, but the receipt shows it's a 9060XT, and I don't know much about PCs, so we're both clueless, lmao.

Troubleshooting low utilization and board power

I have tried almost everything possible when it comes to my GPU. I just can't get my GPU to perform properly. I used to get 250 FPS in Tarkov with Fluid Motion and Anti-Lag enabled, settings on High at 1440p, using 10–12 GB of VRAM with zero stutters. The GPU was running at 90–100% utilization. Then I reinstalled Windows 11, and now the card refuses to do the same.

I have updated the GPU drivers, BIOS, and Windows 11. I've tried different settings in Tarkov, Windows, and the AMD Adrenalin app. I reinstalled the drivers in Safe Mode using DDU. XMP is enabled, Above 4G Decoding is enabled—I've tried tweaking various settings here. I stress-tested the system with no errors found. I tried Windhance to optimize Windows for gaming. I disabled Fullscreen Optimizations and override High DPI scaling. Windows Power Options are set to high performance. I also disabled Intel VMX in the BIOS.

I discovered that ReBAR (Resizable BAR) shows as enabled in both BIOS and the AMD software, but when I run StressLab diagnostics, it reports that ReBAR is turned off (0MB). There shouldn't be much of a bottleneck with these components. AMD Adrenalin also seems non-functional because tweaking power limits or tuning the card does absolutely nothing.

My specs: Intel Core i5-13500, RX 9070 XT, 32GB RAM (3000 MHz), ASUS TUF GAMING B760-PLUS WIFI D4.

I'm driving myself crazy over this—what on earth could be causing this?

Edit, the problem is that the gpu is only working on 40-50%. Yesterday i was troubleshooting and started a raid to see, and boom, it was working like before with 90-100% util and 200fps pluss, and i didnt change anything other then «disable fullscreen optimalization» but it was only working that raid, after i restarted my pc it was back to 40-50% and 100fps

RX 9070 XT - How I resolved my crashing issues

Hey Everyone,

I've been reading countless posts about crashes, instabiliity & drive timeouts with the RX 9070 XT, so I thought I'd share my experience, what I changed, and what ultimately resolved my issues.

My Pc Specs:

GPU: XFX Mercury RX 9070 XT Gaming
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d
Motherboard: MSI x470 Gaming Plus ( PCIe 3.0 )
RAM: 16GB Gskill TridentZ RGB
PSU: Corsair RM850x 850w
CPU Cooler: Corsair 240mm AIO
Case NZXT Phanton
Monitor: Lenovo Legion R45w-30 Res: 5120x1440 165hz

The Crashing issues

After installing my 9070 xt I immediately experienced crashes and instability while gaming, particularly in AAA titles, FPS were running great!

Reading through the thread here I suspected it was most likely the GPU drivers or a PSU issue. However, after investigating by looking at Motherboard specs, Ram etc. I realised that the officially supported OC speeds were 3466mhz and I was running 3600mhz. And although this generally wouldn't be a problem at all, stability usually depends on several factors like the CPU's memory controller, motherboard, BIOS & Memory Config.

In my case, running at 3600MHz appears to have been contributing to the crashes.

What I changed

My first step was to lower my RAM frequency from 3600MHz to 3400MHz, bringing it within the motherboards advertised overclocking range. - This fixed the issue before the re-install but I thought I might as well give my PC a fresh start.

Secondly I performed a completely fresh install of Win 11 this was done to eliminate any software conflicts, old drivers or hanging config issues I might have missed.

Next I used Chris Titus Tech's Windows utility to remove unnecessary bloatware and diisable windows features and background processes I didn't need.

The Results were amazing, since making these changes, my system has been nothing but stable, I haven't had a single crash while playing or testing any game despite using an older motherboard and pcie3.

Has anyone else experienced your 9070 XT crashing due to RAM config?

I hope someone finds this helpful

Discussion PowerColor Hellhound OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB SAG/GPU bracket needed?

Would I need a SAG/GPU bracket for my new card PowerColor Hellhound OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB? Used a 2070 super before so never had one of those "newer" bigger cards. I seen many "test/review" builds without any while having seen some "consumers" use SAG/GPU brackets. Thoughts? The reinforced backplate will make a difference to other 9070 XT cards or not rly?
