[Hashi] This took me very long and a couple restarts to finally solve it, anyone has good methods?

Post image

I recently started playing Hashi and I have been enjoying it. I came across this board (generated by the "Hashi (Bridges)" app on Google Play) and it took me an unusually long time to finish. The methods I use include the following:

  • Standard counting neighbours ("3" with only 2 neighbours, "5" with only 3 neighbours etc.)
  • On this board right edge near bottom, the "3" has three neighbours: a west "1", south "2", and north "3". If I connect 1-3=2 it would become isolated, so there must be at least 1 bridge to the north neighbour "3". This is similarly applied elsewhere.
  • If "4" has three neighbours and only one of them is / practically a "1", then there must be at least one bridge to each of the other two neighbours.
  • If there are only two choices for a bridge, I would guess one and see if it works, otherwise backtracks
  • Other standard/simple techniques which I don't quite recall

I would like to see if I have missed any crucial methods that may have helped solving this board quicker. Cheers!

[SOLVED] Is there a logical next step that does not involve guessing?

This is star battle go. There needs to be two stars in every row, column, and box. The stars cannot touch, even diagonally.

I cannot find the next logical place to put a star or x without just guessing and trying to solve. Help!!

[SOLVED] Made a little word puzzle, can you decipher each missing word to get to the final phrase?

Squiggly line: relation/association

Double line: equal/synonym

+: add words together to form a phrase

(and I forgot to add this but word #4 is plural)

I liked making this one and will probably make more in the future, so criticism is appreciated✌️

[Unsolved] Help me get just one block out!

Post image
0 Upvotes

I waste way too much time on this game, as you may notice by the level number.

Occasionally I can't figure out how to get a block out. I usually end up watching an ad to smash a block and move on. But I would much rather learn how to get a block out so I can get better at it, get bored, and break the addiction.

So here's an example. I can't even figure out how to get a single block out of this one. Can someone explain how to get one out?

Knights and Knave Island riddle: Spy

On a small island, every person is either a Knight, who always tells the truth, or a Knave, who always lies. However, there is also exactly one Spy among the islanders. The Spy can say anything, true or false, with no pattern followed.

On this island there are only six islanders:

Mira: "At least one of Mira and Zane is a Knave."

Theo: "The number of Knights is even."

Zane: "At least one of these is true: Nora is a Knight, Odin is a Knave."

Nora: "If Zane is a Knight, then Mira is a Knave."

Luca: "Theo is a Knave."

Odin: "The Spy is one of Theo, Luca and Odin."

Who is the Spy, and who is a Knight or a Knave?

[Unsolved] Murdoku Question!

I am doing a Murdoku book for the first time, currently on Vol. 2 (started with the second one oops). My question is does a person have to be in each column and row? I’m doing puzzle 16 right now & my column 12 is fully crossed out, not sure if I did something wrong and someone has to go in that column? It seems like all the other puzzles i’ve done so far have someone in each row and each column (including the victim) none have been crossed out without a person in it. Help!!

The game gave me a hint before this round to X all the green squares that are not in the top row (I forgot to x out the singular one in the second row) but I don’t understand why. How would I know for certain that a cat can’t be in any other green square? I just want to understand the strategy to use it again but I can’t wrap my head around it

[SOLVED] Chained Block

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi guys, i am still trying to figure out if i made any mistakes or not, i just need a hint for the next step

Rules:

Fill in the cells under the following rules.

Consecutive black cells are called a “block”. The number written on a cell indicates the number of black cells that make up the “block” containing that cell.

If there is a cell with a “?”, you do not know the number of black cells that make up the block containing that cell.

Every block must contain one number or one “?”.

When two or more blocks are in contact at a corner it is called a “chain”. All blocks must be part of a chain.

A chain cannot contain more than one block of one size and shape. Blocks are considered to have the same shape even if a block matches the rotated or mirror image of another block in a chain.

Does this bode well? Queens Puzzle Book.

First puzzle in a new book. Queens, like Meowduku. I've made a start and I know I can eliminate most of R7 and R8. But it doesn't look like there's any forced moves after that. I don't want to continue if the puzzles depend on guesswork or complex deductions for easy puzzles. Am I missing something please?

[Unsolved] Honeycomb logic puzzle: which of the 13 closed letters are right?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Two hidden words share this honeycomb. Every hex holds a letter that is either right (it is in a secret word) or wrong.

  • A grey hex is a wrong letter, already discarded. Its number counts the right letters among its neighbours.
  • A flower is a right letter, already matched.
  • Green letters can only be in Secret 1, blue only in Secret 2, brown dotted letters count for both.

Decide each of the 13 closed hexes: right or wrong. The numbers force a single answer, no guessing needed. Then name both words (the theme is Natural Wonders).

Answers in spoiler tags, please.
