TOTW: Oh I do like to be beside the seaside
Many thanks to u/deeppotential123 for selecting my clue in last week's TOTW.
Because I'm currently on a train to Brighton (for work, alas, not pleasure), let's all take a promenade along the front together.
I'll be back to dust the sand off you next Thursday.
Judgement day!
My runners up are:
It’s created using spades, and shaped by laddie on vacation (10)
Trademark ingenuity. Very impressive.
What’s buried in James Earl Ray’s home (3)
- By u/zc_eric
You see the answer first and you wonder 'why not James Earl Jones?' and then it hits you.
My winner - because it tickled me - is:
WHO CARES ABOUT THIS SEASIDE RESORT? (7)
An old chestnut given a new lease of life thanks to a cleverly disguised definition. When the notification came up on my phone, part of it was cut off and I genuinely thought I'd riled someone up and they were shouty-complaining about my theme selection!

Cryptic crosswords (preferably in book form) with similar difficulty to the Guardian's Quiptic?
I'm still relatively new to cryptics, but find now that the super-easy ones are a breeze for me while the Quiptic is just the right level of challenge for me!
When it comes to non-cryptics I much prefer a physical book to a website but it seems that the only Quiptic book is out of print (and fetches £20+ on eBay!). Is there a (readily available) book of cryptics with a similar difficulty?
The regular Guardian Cryptic is beyond my understanding for now, but would the Times' Quick Cryptic be a similar level?
