Honestly how can you guys put up with GBL? I've been playing GBL for 4 years now (for stardust and rare candies) and although I've improved at it I still hate it just as much as I did on the first day.
Even after learning type matchups, the movesets, the meta shifts, fast move counting, breakpoints and etc nothing seems to make much difference because at the end of the day the game is just UNFAIR.
I don't believe the algorithm theory, but I do think something else is wrong with GBL (maybe just really poor game design). No knowledge or skill seems to change the outcome. I've been at 2300 ELO for the past week when suddenly I get hard countered 15 times in a row and drop to 2k. I get that me and most people will be at a approximate 50% winrate, that's normal. What's not normal is that the elo system put me at 2300 and I've stayed there for the past week, but now out of nowhere the same elo system says I super suck at the game and must drop to 2k.
I guess what frustrates me the most is that people actually think GBL is 5D chess or something, that skill will solve everything and luck isn't a factor, When in reality, and I'm sorry to say that, but luck is a much more important factor for GBL than skill (hence what I've mentioned above about getting countered, even though it's the same season, same meta and Im using the same team). Maybe at tournaments, in which you opponents bring 6 mons eland choose 3, skill is the determinant factor, but that is not the case for the everyday matches.
These same people sometimes think less of those who enjoy the PvE side of the game because the shinies, costumes, backgrounds and etc are just luck based. The way I see it, at least in PvE everyone knows it's just luck and it's fine with it and have fun with it. In pvp everyone is just "rolling an invisible dice" to see who counters who and thinks they are doing big brain stuff when they win.
I apologize for the long rant. I guess I'm just venting my own frustration but it would be nice to know if anyone else thinks this way.
