I created an interactive online archive of Launch Magazine, the CD-ROM magazine (1995)

Launch Magazine was an experimental magazine that covered music, movies, games and more. What made it truly unique was the presentation: Instead of flipping pages and articles, you would explore "Launch City" like you would a point-and-click adventure game, interview celebrities with dialogue choices, and listen to album previews while you read the review. It was truly ahead of its time, predicting the coming convenience of the internet with immense style. The journalism was also stellar, featuring exclusive interviews with music legends and exclusive live performances that never left this format.

I created a playable archive that allows you to run Launch in your browser just as you would on a PC in the 90s, utilizing the x86 virtual machine engine by Copy. This way, not only can you experience all the ambience of Launch from the intro videos to the closing ads, but you can run (some) of the included game demos!

I'll be working to improve performance and add more Launch issues later on, but there's already hours of content in the current beta build. Try it out at https://sayitshwok.com/launcharchive

Once Upon A Time in America (1984) rare 143 minute U.S. theatrical version. VHS. Best quality.

This copy has normal audio levels and better picture quality than the version uploaded on Archive.org years ago. A personal render of a copy I own with the right settings(the archive copy is blown out and bright with tracking issues).

Here's the corrected file:

Frank Grow's LOVE GOD (1997) is a hyper-surreal shot-on-video monster-horror-comedy starring Will Keenan & Shannon Burkett, and features Kerri Kenney from THE STATE and RENO 911! Utilizing 3700 cuts and 68 music cues, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette called LOVE GOD "one of the most visually confrontational films you will ever experience." Remains unreleased due to music rights issues, but can be viewed on the director's YouTube page.

A Clockwork Orange (1971) Alternate R rated VHS.

  • Two scenes are altered in this version which is what lowered the rating from X to R in 1971. The high-speed orgy features alternate footage/takes.....and the Ludovico Technique has a replacement shot during the rape scene, cuts to a doctor instead of revealing full frontal nudity and such.
  • The current releases since 1986 are labeled R rated, but features the original X rated version of the film.

Fair warning: there does seem to be some disagreement on when this film came out. IMDb lists it as coming out in 1956, but the Film Preservation Institute and the title I've linked to here on YouTube list it as coming out in '58. However, it did come out around that time.

Please don't be too harsh if this doesn't really fit, I'm not super familiar with this world of lost/rare media.

I found this DVD at a Goodwill Bins the other day and it basically doesn't exist anywhere on the internet except EXTREMELY depricated websites. You can't find a hard copy to buy on either Amazon or on Ebay. I thought it was really interesting and incredibly unusual subject matter.

Pretty stinkin unusual piece of media that is crazy rare.

I have pictures of it anybody are interested in seeing (since I can't attached them to the post). Has anybody seen anything like this before?
