Every song title here is a stop. It's pretty difficult to find songs for some of these (who is writing music about 207th street??) but all 38 stops are covered.
Playlist is here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0oF0T4NxNS8c1zcRW4HD1r

Option 1: Queenslink
Option 2: Manhattan to JFK one seat ride
Didnโt know this page existed and didnโt know they were serious about the Manhattan to JFK one seat ride version.

Iโm not even sure I should post this here lest I get snark and Iโm like trying to keep it together. But I have to vent. Today on the subway the train was mad crowded, around 7am, almost no seats . I had an hour commute and have leg issues. A dude had his bag on the seat . Iโm like excuse me can I sit? Heโs in the back to back seats. He responds โno Iโm too tall,โ or โmy legs are too long,โ or something. Iโm like huh? Iโm going on 4 hours of sleep so Iโm like confused as to his reasoning and while I wish I had just been like ok- I honestly donโt even know what I said other than what why? Cause I was confused and half asleep. Iโm like Iโm a teacher and I have a long commute I need to sit. All in a calm voice . Man loses his mind on me. Starts cursing at me, calling me a bitch , I will admit I cursed back after I walked away bc he kept yelling at me . Probably should have said nothing . But heโs screaming in the quiet car going on and on about how awful I am, how he will beat my ass, etc etc . One dude offers his seat so I sit down and try to ignore this asshole. Two stops later, he comes right in my face as he exits the train. Like right over me sitting down, leaving him alone, to curse me out and threaten me- Iโm like at this point trying to not look at him and literally no one was ready to step in. Mostly men on the train. This man could have punched me, and no one was gonna tell him to back off. I am sure some will say what do you expect- but Iโm livid. Iโve always stood up for others. But the lack of even concern like- nyc used to be a place where we looked out for each other. I seriously wonder if he had beat me if people would have just stared. Plz be kind , it was upsetting and I mostly
Wanna vent . Also in case anyone is around Atlantic Barclays he got off there about 2 hours ago, tall skinny black dude with a black shoulder small bag and all black clothes. Avoid!

So I was riding the W uptown from Whitehall St and noticed while sitting in the lead car that it looks like the back end of the downtown platform used to continue but was cut off. Was curious if this was the case or just the way onto platforms were built due to geography and other factors.

Four stops, two car trains, and nearly 150 years of Brooklyn history: the Franklin Avenue Shuttle has never been defined by its size. What it lacks in length it makes up for in devoted riders.ย
โThe subway is usually out of sight, out of mind. It runs underground, right? And even where it goes above ground, I don't think it is intimately in people's backyards and sidewalks as the shuttle is,โ said Matt Choii of Shuttle Friends, a local volunteer group. โThis really is a unique line in that itโs really in the neighborhood, in a way that a lot of other trains aren't.โ
That devotion will be on display this Sunday (Oct. 18), at Shuttle Friendsโ free block party celebrating the train. For Choi, the party is also a chance to show transit officials how important the train is to the neighborhood.ย Details and full history of the train (including all the times it nearly shut down but was saved by its fans) are in the link above.

Now that tunnel boring has started, I thought it would be interesting to visualize the Gateway project's ongoing status since there's so much going on at once.
So I corralled a bunch of data from Gateway's official sources onto one page and I think it turned out pretty neat. You can see the result here: https://hudson.tube
I've been checking the construction cameras obsessively for over a year at this point just nerding out and reading all the notices and updates from GDC and I doubt I'm the only one so hopefully someone else finds this useful!
Just as a preview, I'm working on a construction camera viewer that should feel snappier than EarthCam and make it easier to do stuff like compare images between different dates/times. And I'm generally open to suggestions for more data sources and widgets to put up so let me know in the comments if you wanna see something.

I've been building an app called Belowtown that puts every subway line where it actually runs underground. Deep tunnels, cut-and-cover, the ELs at their real height, and all the spots where lines cross over and under each other. Trains move live off the MTA feeds and directions keep working when you're underground with no signal in live time.
The depth is stretched 3x by default so you can actually see the layers (you can turn it down).
Honestly, this sub is who I want looking at it, because you'll catch what I got wrong so i can go back and fix things. Tracks at the wrong level, a junction that looks off, a station complex that doesn't match real life all that kind of stuff. I dont personally live in NYC so its hard for me to get accurate information on what is working and what is not working.

What are some of the old retired lines that new bloods donโt know about these days?
Try not to downvote for curiosity.. this is a query for natives to impart their knowledge of nyc history

I didn't move for 45 minutes!!!
Sitting at W 4th st and conductor says there is a sick passenger at High st.
Okay, I assume there will be some delay and that there must already be some back up from High st to W 4th already.
An E train goes by on the local track but I don't rush to switch because its only been 5 or so minutes.
Then an A train comes on the local track, ok things are backed up, but then its a game of which train will leave the station first, and of course the conductor doesn't give any clues, just keeps reminding us of a sick costumer at High st.
I don't switch to local (I really should have!) cause I assume if its a hold up at High st then the local will be backed up as well and we will likely meet again at Canal st, and because it seems every time I leave a train to get ahead I end up watching the train I left pull ahead.
But then a C train and 2 more E trains keep coming and going on the local track.
Eventually the conductor announces our A train is going out of service please get off, so we get on the next arriving local A train and head on our way downtown.
But in later service announcements and on the MTA website it says delays were due to issues at W 4th st!
I am just clearly going insane here and wish there was some effort to communicate about how to save time in these situations. 20-30 minute delays happen all the time especially for a sick passenger which i understand, but 45 min+ just feels avoidable in this type of scenario.

Iโve noticed that recently, I have full 5G service along the G line, usually between Flushing and 21 St. I remember there was news about service being added, but does anyone have more details ?

Just as the title says, if you scored free tickets to any train-related OHNY events this weekend but can no longer attend, I would love to take them off your hands! Lmk

Should be once every 10 minutes right now, unknown issues resulting in 16-20 minute frequencies, far off from necessary 8-minute headways, live info completely inaccurate to actual behavior, please advise & consider alternate options.

Why hasnโt the MTA built this yet? Train service to Kings Plaza and flatlands in general has been needed for a long time especially the traffic gets so bad around here.

Am I the the only one who wishes that the 7 Express is "more express" near Manhattan? I could freely redesign the 7 train magically, I would let it skip Hunters Point (very low ridership), Vernon (ok maybe not this is very used), and 5th Ave (because it's so close to 42nd St).
And while we're at it:
* 74th would be an Express station
* Maybe swap Junction with Corona Plaza, or keep them both
