Problem Ecowitt GW2000 finds neighbor's soil sensors

Problem: neighbor's soil sensors show up in Android app, but I've managed to fix the local (192.168.1.x) web interface. Unfortunately ecowitt.net is not getting the fix.

I just setup GW2000 + WS90 yesterday. I saw two soil sensors which I don't have and didn't know belonged to my neighbor. Tried to remove these from Android app display by disabling CH1 and CH2. Then they come back as CH3 & 4. Disabled these and then they come back as CH 5 & 6!

Talked to Gemini about this and he/she/it eventually told me that the Android app was going to ecowitt.net to connect to my gateway (GW2000) and that I needed the Android app to connect via local wifi instead - but that apparently would not happen.

So Gemini advised me to connect via web browser to local 192.168.1.x - I found the address and did this and "fixed" it so that the sensors are returned to CH1 and CH2 (I decided to keep them since I know that they're next door).

However, ecowitt.net still shows one sensor at CH7 and doesn't even show the other.

I hope humans can help me solve this problem. I want ecowitt.net to report the sensors as CH1 & 2.

News [ECOWITT] there is a new app i just discovered

I have 2 weather stations (WS90 + GW2000) and 6 sensors... I downloaded the official app called "Ecowitt". That app sucks, it looks ugly and the interface is way too complicated. I was searching for something better, so there was "WSView Plus", that's also very bad.

But #3 on the list is amazing, just search "ecowitt" on the AppStore and there is a new app called Dashboard for Ecowitt.

Problem Ecowitt ws6006 mid pole mount?

I'm looking at getting the ws606 cellular weather station but my only mount possibilities would be a mid-mast mount (there is a windsock on the top). Anyone know of a solution for that? There is the https://shop.ecowitt.com/collections/accessory/products/pole-side-mounting-accessories but I don't think that will work with the ws6006.

Advice Requested What to think about Pro Weather?

Has anyone used or looked closely at this? https://pro-weather.com/#features It looks interesting and if it works as described, very nicely set up. Maybe it is a very new offering because if you look at the "Stations" tab there seem to be only 21 users world wide. Eight in the U.S., two in Indonesia, and the rest in Europe.

Show and Tell Ecowitt Außensensor WN32 nach 9 Monaten defekt

Advice Requested Wittboy? GW1202...GW1210...WN1981...GW3001? Can someone help me understand the Ecowitt product line? What is a good low-maintenance beginner station that integrates with Weewx?

I'm interested in finding a low maintenance solar-powered weather station that I can install on my roof or yard and that will allow me to easily pipe data into WeeWx without going through some paid cloud service. Ideally I'd like to spend less than $200, if possible.

Looking at their product line-up is baffling to me. There are like half a dozen units that seem superficially identical. https://shop.ecowitt.com/en-gb/collections/weather-station

What is the difference between the GW2001 and the GW3001? Do I want a "Wittboy" model or a non-Wittboy? What about the WN1981? What makes it different?

Are all these sensors actually identical WS90 units outside, and then the only difference is how fancy the indoor display panel is?

Can someone help me understand what I should look for and what I should ignore? They seem to be trying to make it confusing!

Advice Requested Best weather station for ingesting/manipulating data?

I'm looking to purchase my first weather station and would like to build an app for personal use that ingests the data and manipulates it for display on some sort of custom dashboard.

Does anyone have recommendations for which weather station would be the most developer friendly while also providing accurate results at a fairly reasonable cost?

Ecowitt and Tempest both seem to be fairly well-regarded on this subreddit from the research I've done. Davis seems interesting, but a bit more than I'd like to spend while initially getting into the hobby. The biggest difference from Ecowitt and Tempest from a developer standpoint seems to be how they return data, but I'm not sure if there's anything else that I'm not taking into consideration.

Thanks in advance!

Why is ThermoPro so off on both temperature and humidity? There is no sun out yet to have micro impact on reading.

The large pointer shows the current wind direction, but the others it has been unclear to me what they show. It is a Davis weather station console. Thanks!

Problem Solved I wrote a free, open-source local dashboard for the AcuRite Access hub. Your data stays on your own machine, and the AcuRite app and Weather Underground keep working.

My AcuRite Atlas and Access hub only show their data through AcuRite's cloud. I wanted my own copy of every reading, my own dashboard, and no dependence on their servers, without breaking the AcuRite app or my Weather Underground uploads. So I built this. It's MIT-licensed, a single Python file with no packages to install, and it runs on a Raspberry Pi.

How it works: the hub sends each reading over HTTPS to a server name it's configured with. This program sits in that path. It records the reading, then passes it to AcuRite unchanged, so the app keeps working, and the hub keeps uploading to Weather Underground itself. There are two ways to set it up:

* Change the hub's server name to point at your machine. No extra hardware is needed.

* Plug the hub into a Pi's Ethernet port. The Pi gives it an address and answers AcuRite's server name itself, and the hub's settings stay untouched.

What you get:

* Dashboard: every sensor, plus feels-like, wind, the 3-hour pressure trend, UV and light.

* Sun and moon: worked out in the page, with no outside service.

* US forecast: the hourly and 7-day forecast and alerts from the National Weather Service (free, no key).

* Charts: any period from today to all time, or a date range. Rain totals for the day, week, month and year.

* Every reading kept in a local SQLite database.

* Easy to customize: one file for the colors, a folder for your own pages, and a documented JSON feed for anything you want to build.

* Buttons that open your Weather Underground or AcuRite pages, in a pane or in their own tab.

* Optional radio capture with an RTL-SDR dongle if you have no hub.

Tested on an Access hub (firmware 051) with an Atlas and six indoor tower sensors. If you have other AcuRite sensors, I'd like to hear whether they show up properly.

I built this with Claude Code (AI-assisted). The design, testing and hardware work were mine.

Advice Requested Hi everyone! I’m looking for a weather station for a remote outdoor location.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a weather station for my fruit orchard and would appreciate some recommendations.

There is no electricity or internet at the orchard. I have an electricity source about 200 m away, and my home is roughly 2–3 km away.

I’d like to be able to check the weather data remotely from my phone or PC, ideally including:

Temperature
Humidity
Rainfall
Wind speed and direction
UV / solar radiation
Atmospheric pressure

I’m currently considering the Ecowitt WittField WS6210 + WS69 (4G), but it’s quite expensive.

Are there any cheaper 4G/SIM-based alternatives you would recommend? Or would it be possible to set up a reliable Wi-Fi connection over the 200 m distance?

What would you recommend for this kind of setup?

Thanks!

(Location/Eu/Hungary)

Discussion Microclimate differences in shady creek areas vs. open grass just few feet away?

There is a open exposed grassy hill with dry grass given time of year near where I live (Northern CA). Given it's steepness of going up about 360 ft in less than half mile, been experimenting with using it to deduce lapse rates. When I initially started measuring, I expected to see temperatures at the top about a degree Celsius lower than at the bottom. However, actual observations have been rather different. Here is a sample of a sunny day vs. cloudy day:

Sunny day on Oct 3
Shade of tree near the Park: 36 Celsius
Open grassy area at bottom of hill about 100 feet away: 38.4 Celsius
Top of hill: 37.4 Celsius
Open grassy area at bottom again (to verify): 38.2 Celsius

Cloudy day on Oct 4 (peeks of sunshine but readings taken when no sun was shining anywhere)

Shade of tree near Park: 32.9 Celsius
Open grassy area at bottom: 33.2 Celsius
Top of hill: 32.9 Celsius
Open grassy area again: 34.1 Celsius
Shade of tree near creek again: 33.3 Celsius.

The difference on the cloudy day was the was sun had come out of clouds in the distance and I wonder if ambient air temperature had started to climb up in advance. Interestingly, the readings near the creek were still the same.

Is it possible that the readings were affected by indirect light hitting the thermometer on the sunny day? All readings were taken between 4 - 5 PM when the October sun was less 30 degrees high in the sky and in the shade of a bush / my own shadow combined for the dry grassy areas. Held at arms length height 4-5 feet. Both days had a light breeze up to 10 mph.

Discussion Automated Backups on Console

So, I was checking my console yesterday and noticed my rain totals are all at zero inches. I don’t know how this happened, as I didn’t reset or clear any settings on my WS2000. My question is why these consoles don’t have automatic backup settings? I lost all of my rain data since 6/25. I would think there should be updated firmware with automatic backup!

Problem La Crosse Weather Station wont connect.

I have recently acquired a La Crosse Technology Weather Station; it is a V22-WRTH. I have managed to connect it to my 2.4 GHz network; however, when I try to configure it in the app, it has 2 errors.
"Sign on information transfer unsuccessful" & "Device connection to the server unsuccessful"
I was really hoping to get this thing to work, but I can't get past this step. Any help would be really appreciated.
