I do handyman and construction kind of work and a client has this in his barn. Mentioned to him prior to know about this bike that I was looking for a project and he said he had this moped. He says itās been there since they bought the house. He was going to give it to me for free but I kind of felt bad since he has a bunch of work done around the property so we settled on a deal, Iāll fix his barn door so it opens and closes like it should (itās a security door and the top corner wonāt clear for some reason so it doesnāt close) and I get to keep this bike.
On the back it looks like it has a license plate but it has 7 digits (Iām in CA so 7 is typical for todayās plates but i thought they had 5-6 back then for motorcycles). Also seems to have functional pedals making it a bicycle, or motorbike. It also has a āplateā below the seat saying itās a bicycle license plate and has the numbers on it, and says it expires Dec. 1984.
If anyone happens to know about these bikes, Iād definitely like to know more about it, such as make/model or year and such. Also, do these usually have a title or something like that for California? It was here since the guy bought the house so Iām not sure how Iād go about getting the title. Would I just get a Bill of Sale from him like usual? Also for starting the bike, itās just pedal and let go of a clutch or something and it starts right? Looks similar to a motorbike I had and thatās how it started
Itās amazing to me that itās in such good condition being thatās itās been abandoned since around 1984 Iām guessing. After sleeping for 42+ years, itās time to wake it up and bring it back to life
