Got a Concorde beach cruiser and fit the engine in super easyā¦
I then moved onto the rear wheel which was the biggest pain in the ass Iāve ever seen in my life I followed the instruction manual and then kept fucking it up by putting the bolt in the wrong way and then realizing it after i checked it to make sure i got it in right to get a start on the rag joint
Took forever to tighten each bolt and a socket failed to properly seat on to the bolt due to spoke clearance
Then when I got it set just right and aligned⦠I realized I put the moon shaped metal pieces in wrongā¦
Enraged I began to carefully disassemble it again and put it back together
And then realized that the sprocket wouldnāt fit around the coaster brake arm
So I attempted to take it off but that did not work at all so I took the axle out and put the arm over the sprocket which is probably what I went horribly wrong
I tightened it all up and did a shitty Brahe test in my apartment to see if it worked and it did
Obviously that wasnāt enough so I took it out side and gently peddled it and yeah the brakes where barley functioning
So I instantly decided it was to dangerous to ride at all as is
Peddled it a bit more to try to figure out what was happening
As I was checking the wheel over and over it began to loosen and tried to come off
I was going around 5 mph with no engine so nothing happened
I took it back up stairs and inspected it only to find the wheel bearings were fucked like all the ball bearings fell out the the ring that holds them in was mushroomed outward and itās completely fucked beyond repairā¦
So now I either have to put new bearings in the terrible stock wheel or just buy a wheel thatās meant for this
I will be going with option B because I see now I kind of deserve this for trying to run a stock wheel on a $128 bike with a coaster brake and a rag joint
My plan is to get some rim brakes for the bike because they are simple and I donāt really plan on going over 15-20 mph this isnāt at all a build for performance itās more of a prototype
I will be getting a ātop hatā adapter as I think the rag joint is a huge time consuming and extremely frustrating and primitive by design
The process was excruciating mentally and physically
Physically it was extremely straining on my back and knees and legs and arms pretty much my entire body
Mentally it was just absolute insanity repeating the same thing trying different attempts and then realizing it was pointless and it was addictive to try to keep solving the problems Iād run into..
But I guess Iāll just have to take what I learned and get better parts and wait longer to finally ride it
I did not fully expect this to be easy or be a short project or for it to even work with what I had
This thing has to be safe above all as I do not want to be killed by my own creation..
and it has to be functional
Failure is nothing new to me but building a motorized bicycle absolutely is
Also the fenders have been taken off Iāve heard a lot about how dangerous they are if left on
