Faced with an early lead for the Dodgers, the Brewers overcame a one-run deficit before moving ahead for good in the 7th.

Robert Gasser supplied the standout work on the mound and put up zeroes for five innings, surrendering three hits while recording three strikeouts.

| Discussion What was the MLB equivalent of "East is Weak"?

In the NBA, we've heard this all the time since like the 2000s. The Eastern Conference is always weaker than the Western conference.

Was there an era (stretch of several years) in MLB when either the AL/NL was significantly stronger than the other one?

A couple weeks ago I got to walk Zidell Yards on the South Waterfront with Craig Cheek, who started the Portland Diamond Project back in 2017. If you haven't been down there, it's about 33 acres of empty riverfront between Tilikum Crossing and the Ross Island Bridge. Standing on it, it's honestly hard not to picture a ballpark.

The plans for the site are most comparable to Oracle Park, PNC Park and Petco Park based on its proximity to water and plans for the surrounding acreage. Craig talked about where home plate would go, what the neighborhood would look like on a non-game day, and what Portland still needs to land one of the next two expansion teams.

| Opinion MLB Award Predictions-AL Gold Glovers from a Yankees fan-how did I do?

These were AL award predictions I made on 9/6/26 (I never did propose the NL side).

Let’s see how I did? At least with the finalists. I will do the same with the other awards. To see how I did.

https://www.mlb.com/news/2026-gold-glove-award-finalists?partnerID=mlbapp-iOS_article-share

Gold Glovers only

-I Skipped Pitcher—

AL C Gold Glove: 2/3 correct

  1. Dillon Dingler-DET-WINNER
  2. Austin Wells-NYY
  3. Adley Rutschman-BOS/BAL*

*Brendan Valenzuela (TOR) got it instead of Rutschman who underperformed both offensively and defensively in Boston. I am so glad that we didn’t get him.

AL 1B Gold Glove: 2/3 right

  1. Vladamir Guerrero, Jr. -TOR-WINNER
  2. Paul Goldschmidt-NYY (penalized for lack of games) *
  3. Christian Walker-HOU

*Vinny Pasquantino (KCR) got in instead. I was dead wrong about Goldy. It was always a bit of a long-shot and “homer” pick, but he certainly was great there in limited time.

AL 2B Gold Glove: 2/3 right

  1. Michael Massey-KCR-WINNER (OAA and DRS preference)
  2. Jazz Chisholm, Jr-NYY (great at OAA terrible at DRS) *
  3. Cole Young-SEA (great at DRS terrible at OAA)

*Chase Meidroth (CWS) got in instead of Jazz. Which is the right call. I changed to Jazz (a bit of a homer pick) last minute and obviously shouldn’t have.

AL SS Gold Glove: 3/3 right!!!

  1. Bobby Witt Jr.-KCR-WINNER
  2. Andres Gimenez-TOR
  3. Taylor Walls-TBR

AL 3B Gold Glove: 2/3 right

  1. Maikel Garcia-KCR-WINNER*
  2. Caleb Durbin-BOS
  3. Brooks Lee-MIN

* A different KC guy here (Loftin)-got in here. But to be fair I did include him in the utility category, so I feel like I should have partial points? Lol.

AL UTL Gold Glove: 2/3 right

  1. Jose Caballero-NYY-WINNER (12 DRS and 1 OAA)
  2. Ezequiel Duran-TEX
  3. Nick Loftin-KCR*

*McKinstry (DET) who was nominated in 2023 I missed out on. I got Loftin correct though (different category).

AL LF Gold Glove: 2/3 right

  1. Cody Bellinger-NYY-WINNER
  2. Stephen Kwan-CLE*
  3. Chandler Simpson-TBR

* Again maybe partial points apply? Since Kwan was nominated for CF. I missed out on Wyatt Langford (TEX)

AL CF Gold Glove: 2/3 right

  1. Ceddanne Rafaela-BOS-WINNER
  2. Tristan Peters-CWS*
  3. Evan Carter-TEX

* Again Kwan (CLE) was here instead. I missed on Peters.

AL RF Gold Glove: 2/3 right

  1. Wilyer Abreu-BOS-WINNER
  2. Cam Smith-HOU
  3. Jonny DeLuca-TBR*

*Missed on Nathan Lukes (TOR) as I guess DeLuca played more all around the OF. Mesa (TBR) once inserted in RF played at a Gold Glove level as we all know (dumb Austin Wells attempt at 3B).

We will see if I get any of the winners right. I thought I did pretty well!

| Discussion Today we seen Captain Hook Dave Roberts leave Snell in for at least 2 innings too long. He also waited far too long to jerk Othani out of the leadoff spot. Is he being out coached by murphy?

It's always been my contention that Roberts teachers too much with pitching staffs and lineups and at other times weights too long to make moves.

Pratt and Mitchell have historically good at bats against Snell so why he left him in to face them or third time is beyond me.

Unfortunately the Dodgers are going to lose this series it is going to put a cramp in a much needed salary cap revision

| Analysis Dodgers, chances of winning NLCS

if we assume the Dodgers are the better team and give them a 60% chance of winning any individual game, their probability of winning four straight would be: 12.96%

| Analysis The Dodgers are about done and we have two small market teams in the AL championship. Is the way that the Brewers, Rays and Guardians play the game good for the GAME but bad for the league? Or are fans no better than the front office of teams like the Yankees and Dodgers waiting for 3 run homers

Youd have to think the Commissioner and FOX would be scared out of their minds of the ratings we would get with a Milwaukee-Cleveland WS

On the other hand it is refreshing to see teams do all the little things right andvalsp be able to generate offense without sitting around waiting for 3 run homers....

Or are baseball fans too far gone on ESPN HR highlights and basically no different than NBA fans who seem to appreciate nothing but step back threes and dunks?

| Discussion Should we make the regular season mean more.

I got to thinking when the Braves matched up with the Phillies in the Wild Card round this year. The Braves dominated the Phillies this year by every metric; better record in general, better record head to head, and better record in the division. It didnt feel as though the Braves should have to play an opponent in the playoffs that they had already proven to be the better team.

Im spit balling here and am in no way married to this idea. Just throwing it out for discussion. Would it make the regular season mean more if in the first or even first two rounds of the playoffs if you have a better head to head record against your opponent first, then also had a better record overall you would be spotted a game going into the series. A better team would only need one win to advance in the Wild Card while the inferior team would need two.

I dunno just seemed like having to climb a hill already conquered was asking too much and was looking for some kind of fix. Go ahead and tell me why this is a bad idea cause Im pretty sure it probably is but its all I can come up with.
