Milsurp Honey hole in northern VA
I stopped at a little hole in the wall gunshop in Stephens City VA not expecting much but I was blown away by the milsurp selection. Lots to look at and fair prices too!

I recently acquired an 03a4 without a scope. The base is there just need the rings and optic. I’ve seen repros for sale on Sarco and Numrich. Are those worth the price or should I just try to find an original?

Sort of the golden age of military surplus.

Hey guys, i wanted to show off this neat rifle i picked up, its an FN-49 sniper rifle, and it appears to be SN# 01, the rifle has no crest and appears un-issued, unfortunately it has the wrong scope, but I am in the process of finding the correct one.

Or is soft point needed? Want to save money and buy s&b fmj bulk, but idk how it will do hunting. Also never hunted before. Is the soft point necessary?

Figured I'd come on here and share my latest and oldest milsurp. An 1876 Oviedo Rolling block that was listed as being chambered in an unknown 35 caliber. Within 20 minutes of it showing up I had the chamber cast and to my surprise it was 357! Gun has been reblued and is in pretty good shape. Anyone know anything about Fenwick Barrels? Deep dived on the Internet and found nothing. Anyone ever seen another Spanish rolling block chambered in 357 like this?

Got this for a fairly reasonable price I’d like to think for a Finnish rifle (4 bennies and a Grant). All numbers match except the butt plate. On a 1938 Tula receiver, in what looks to be a Russian stock with some splice repairs on the front, and parts wise it’s an overall Heinz 57. But regardless for all pretty uncommon Mosin, I’m happy with it!

I think the grease that’s on the K31’s is called Waffenfett. The only thing I don’t like about the K31 is that it usually has this grease on it and I’m wondering how do you clean this?

I'd never sell it, but I am curious what it's worth for insurance purposes. To me it's priceless.
I bought this from a pawn shop for ~$500. There are no import marks anywhere on it. I know these were very rare in the US until a few years ago. So I am guessing this is a ‘Nam bring back.

Angles, recesses, steel on steel, lugs. Should I use lubricating oil or grease on the bolts of my milsurps? Does the world milsurp have a plural?
I never put so much that collect dirt and debris that could impact functioning, and the bolt face and firing pin stay clean. But what do you use? Yes, you.
I use it both internally and externally, sometimes I go with grease, sometimes with oil. But I can’t decide what’s better. Am I retarded? Maybe, probably even.
I just want to pick one and stay coherent. Every time I disassemble a bolt and clean it I stumble upon the dilemma. This week I lean towards grease.

Hi yall. I took my schmidt Rubin out of storage today and had a very, very hard time opening the action. I eventually got the bolt out of the gun and tool it apart following a guide on youtube. I cleaned it and lut it back together when I noticed something. In the video the locking sleeve seems to move around freely while mine binds up at the point showed in the 2nd picture. I believe this is what is causing my issue. The gun worked great, and all Ive ever shot through it are my own low power loads. What should I do? I tried lubricating it and cleaning it with 000 steel wool to no success.

Took my Destroyer carbine out yesterday with my Yugo 24/47. I found this in a pawn shop while I was doing paperwork for a Nagant revolver, haha. Not a bad little rifle, I'd shoot it a lot more if I could shoot normal 9x19 out of it. I pick up 9mm Largo whenever I find it.

Just picked up this 7mm Mauser rolling block. Pitting up and down the barrel (only under the wood btw) but it’s a little rough around the breech. Was hoping to shoot it :/

Hi Ya'll,
Trying to decide between Soviet M44 for ($425) or Turkish 1893 in 8mm ($425) from https://empirearms.com/rifles.htm for my first milsurp rifle.
For reference I live in CA and have my FFL03/COE, meaning ammo availability shouldn't be an issue. I also reload currently but for pistol calibers only.
Some factors I am considering:
Leaning a little more towards the 1893 purely for cost reasons since I can avoid the CA fees. Just worried it's not gonna hold up if I shoot the piss out of it. What would r/milsurp recommend?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Following up on my previous post - local gun store is asking 780$, internals are in solid/good condition, bore is okay, lightly pitted but with visible and sharp(ish) rifling. Slide and frame are matching, barrel is unmarked. Do I cop it?

Decided to shoot 2 of my batt rifles. One was the the 03A3 I bought in Germany in the mid 80's when i was stationed there. And the other was my M1 Garand, 03 is Remington, Garand is Winchester. Both made in 43.

I want to get either a k11 or k31 specific. I know all the different variants of these rifles (or some main ones) and the difference between the two I’ve listed. I’m fine with the specs of either one, just comes down to price. It will be my first rifle, I will use it for hunting. I want to mount a scope on it but I want to keep it classy and original feeling. I’ve seen the k31/43 has a built on submarine scope but those are rare and expensive. But my question is, is there any way to mount a scope on the left side? Even if it needs tap and die. I haven’t seen Anyone do it except the factory k31/43. I will likely use a weaver k2.5 scope or one like it.

Absolutely fell in love with it, the wood and metal work are beautiful. Noticed these two slashes towards the front. Possible tally marks?

I'm familiar with the origins of the bayonet but, I've never seen one with electro pencil on it. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas behind it? Thanks in advance!

Picked up a ponco liner to use as a shooting blanket and decided to break it in with my Yugo Mauser. Both worked great! Now I don't get filthy when I'm recording 🤣 I'd like to get a K98 someday, but this will do for now.
