The comment section is the reason we have $9 Oreos and $11 packs of soda. Enough people buy shit at insane prices to sustain companies. Eventually everyone finds their wtf-prices

OP is the reason we have that.

They're the one complaining and buying it anyways.

I got a Sodastream and a big tank of gas from the fire extinguisher place, and a cheap kit on Amazon to rig it up. Lol thats how long ago buying soft drinks at the grocery store pissed me off . And yeah those Oreos.. and the quality of things, I used to actually like Kraft Dinner once in a while... But they quadrupled the price and swapped out the actual noodles for whatever the hell there's way less of in the box now. We have learned a lot of things we can just make at home as prices have gone up. Including snooty coffee lol

Tried the store brand golden Oreos last night since they were $3 and legit ones were freaking $7.

Not even gonna lie. I liked them better.

The store brand likely hasn't been "reformulated".

I JUST did this same thing!! The store ones were way better!!!!!!!!

I like the cheap vanilla cream cookies more than golden oreos

While I agree with you generally, Kraft dinners a really poor argument on your part. As a 'poor people' food, it has remained remarkably price-stable, is still and always has been 7oz, and only underwent a recipe change about 7 or 8 years ago when they got rid of artificial dyes well ahead of any government mandate.

If you want to make your Kraft dinner taste like when you were a kid, stir in 1 tsp MSG after you add the cheese packet. It will make it taste cheesy again to your older, more refined palate.

And, they just fixed the boxes, so now the "Press here to open" spot actually opens. From what I learned in another thread from the dude that works in the box factory where they are made, Kraft invested something like $20M into that machine alone.

Oh its not the cheese... Its the noodles. One box used ro be enough for my son and I for dinner, especially with a can of tuna and some peas mixed in. Now they're whiter, thinner, and limp, they have no bite to them, and there is less volume after cooking them... Its just mushy. Maybe its just Canada getting these? I haven't bought it in ages, my husband used to like it too so we saw a 12 pack of boxes on sale and got them, but its awful. Now I just get the cheese powder at Bulk Barn and boil macaroni.

I agree. At least in the Canadian market it has changed. Though I would argue the cheese stuff did because last time I had it the noodles seemed fine to me, though more pale. And yes, they have smaller amounts in the boxes for sure.

I stopped buying them over 10 years ago now but I remember the prices being ridiculous.

So Canada and UK call Mac N Cheese "Kraft Dinner"(KD)?

1

u/zangetsuthefirst Sep 11 '26

Most people I know in Canada do, though I don't know if it is a regional thing like those heathens with their milk in bags

They never said if it’s a growing child or someone who’s already grown that was just an assumption on your part.

Kraft mac & cheese the noodles started shredding on us like just kind of falling apart when being cooked. I have found that signature select brand which is Vons, pavilions, Albertson’s, etc., are much better surprisingly enough.

1

u/LemmyLola Sep 10 '26

Yes there are a few store brands and alternatives which is great

u/Wonderful-Run-1408 Sep 10 '26

What did you buy to rig it all up?

1

u/LemmyLola Sep 11 '26

They have kits on Amazon, there are two kinds.. one is for refilling the gas bottles, which we trued and failed at lol the other one goes right on to the gas inlet of the machine.. then there's a hise that goes to the c02 tank. I got a 20 lb tank and got it filled at the fire extinguisher place, we hook it up to the hose, and gas bottles for months lol it costs about 32 dollars to fill. You just need to look at the type of bottles your machine takes and get the appropriate setup and you're off to the races. If you are going to have a go at refilling your own bottles, get OLD ones.. newer ines are made to prevent it. And freeze them first ir they wont fill :)

It's funny how people will complain about $7 coffee. And when they get fed up enough, they buy - not the $30 coffee maker - oh no. They buy the $675 coffee maker, never learn how to use it, and make the shittiest coffee a $30 coffee maker could have made.

Then go back to buying $7 coffee.

u/GroundbreakingAd8310 Sep 10 '26

But how ever will they get likes on reddit if they dont

1

u/Voideterminate Sep 10 '26

For the love of God, why won't anyone stop paying double/triple price for all this crap? Every industry, prices skyrocketed and hardly anyone has the gumption to say fuck no, I'm not paying that.

1

u/Lurtzum Sep 10 '26

People are willing to pay those prices because everything else has gone up in price too.

6

u/i_Cant_get_right Sep 10 '26

This is the appropriate level of mean.
