MOC Lego Cthulhu
Just finished this for the Civilisation Museum of Québec
Little update: For everybody asking for it, I did not plan on making instructions for this Moc and I tried putting it on Lego Ideas, but H.P.Lovecraft is not approved by Lego.

This is an incredible build! The arms used on the face are epic. The engine blowers on the back make for really great fin detailing. I am very impressed with your design with the elastic bands in the pentagram. Some genius part usage and incredible shaping! Fantastic from every angle!

Looks great! The important question is how many frogs were used?

u/Laurgo 17d ago
I think just 2. One for each eyebrow.

If you ever sell instructions I would definitely buy them. I could really use it as a prop for DnD because Cthulhu is my character's god(praise be)

This is one of the best builds I've ever seen. This is fantastic. Even the pages of the book border are super well done. Extremely huge props and respect to the person who made this!

A lego lovecraft line could actually be pretty fun. Don't think lego would do that, but it could be neat.

u/Visual-Beginning5492 17d ago
I would love Lego Lovecraft. ‘At the mountains of madness’ could be an epic set!

Yeah or The Gilman House, the Whateley farm, or Dagon on his island could all be cool and creative sets. Though I have a feeling that disney wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole, because it is more of an adult theme and due to Lovecraft's racism. Which fair enough, but it is a shame.

OMG! R'lyeh looks SO good! Perfectly weird architecture, I'm obsessed! Also love how you achieved the pentagram. Really, really incredible work.

Hard to represent non-euclidean geometry in Lego but this is damned good!!

Very awesome. I wish i had the technical insight (and pieces) to create something like this.
Maybe placing one hand on the land would make it more dynamic/threatning.

An expo at the end of November

What would be the main thematic. I've read yesterday that they will have an expo future related were there will be some movie props, it must not be related I suppose. Great build by the way.

Lego needs non-Euclidean parts now. For Ages ¥ to • only.

I was also looking for the impossible angles of geometry but found only the possible…
Still really good

This is genuinely the most impressive MOC I've ever seen. The details are spectacular, and don't abuse piece count for meaningful detail. Please share again, for the benefit of all.
Like WHOA am I impressed.

Make it bigger, so the cultists are minifigs! :D
6
u/Denmarkian 17d ago
Oh, no. They need to make it bigger and keep the microscale dementors for the cultists.

This looks incredible! Excellent parts usage, especially the dewback on the, erm back lol. I'm a big fan of Lovecraft's work so this really speaks to me. I'd love to see a LEGO theme that gives us some Lovecraftian stuff, though obviously would have to be a more kid-friendly take.

Not only did you nail designing a huge, unique humanoid monster, but you also did a great job representing the “non-Euclidean” architecture with the bizarre angles and proportions. The pentagram is also genius. This is so much fun to look at and admire all of the parts and design choices. It’s a masterpiece. Well done.
