Finally managed to release a Demo

After a few months of toiling, changing, testing, debugging, story changing, reworking (well, you are all devs, you know the drill) I've finally managed to release a Demo for False Echo. At the moment it's English language only (other languages are planned for the main release but tech behind is WIP) and it features 3 playable days.

Without spoiling the story: you are a Security Officer aboard Sub 227. Stelantic Ocean, world at war. Top secret equipment at your disposal as well as classified communication/authentication. Basically analyze/encode/decode/survive.

I've received tons of feedback once the demo got out and currently I am making updates for the demo itself. If you have time to try it out and want to ping back feedback you can do it in multitude of ways (feedback form in the Game/Retromagine/Feedback, Discord, Steam discussions) or directly here. I am reading every single bit since it has proven to me that I've grossly underestimated the full potential of players creativity and problem solving (and quite overestimated my own).

Working on the trailer and polishing the free demo for my solo horror game - here's a small piece of it

Hi everyone,

I'm working on Pale Static, a single-player first-person survival horror on Unreal Engine 5. You play Rook, part of a small team sent into a quarantined town that stopped answering. It's supposed to be a rescue mission.

Right now I'm making the trailer and polishing the free demo, it comes out October ~22. So decided to share a small piece from the game.

I'm a solo developer creating a game in my spare time. I buy some assets on Fab and create others myself.

Please don't judge too harshly; if you like it, I'd be very grateful for any support, tips, or feedback. )

To be honest, I'm currently using AI for the voiceovers, but if the game is well-received, I plan to hire a voice actor. My English isn't great.

Also, for marketing images, I create the individual elements and composite them in Photoshop.

Maybe no one sees it today (again), but I’ll keep making my game and keep telling people about it.

Battlefield has a multi-million-pound budget and they’re using AI-generated characters to promote their game. 😂

Meanwhile, here’s Jackie from HOLD.

Not a single bit of AI used to create him.

Just a scruffy bloke from Northumberland trying to survive the apocalypse.

Budget: about £14 and a packet of crisps. 😂

Hey everyone! We’re working on Witch & Dragon: Hope of Elements, a turn-based roguelike about a witch and her little dragon.

The game is built around elemental reactions. You can combine five elements, interact with the environment, and experiment with skills and treasures to create unexpected chain reactions and combat strategies.

We’ve just released an updated demo with lots of improvements, including tutorial adjustments, UI refinements, gameplay tweaks, and bug fixes. There’s also new content to explore, including the complete Wood Domain storyline and part of the Water Domain storyline.

We’ve been working hard to improve the experience based on what we’ve learned from previous playtests. Now we’d love to hear from more players!

We’re also excited to share that the game is planned for release in 2027, and we’ll be participating in Steam Next Fest this month.

I am making a cozy meditative electronics repair shop game

• Upvotes

https://reddit.com/link/1x6f584/video/2j1q4hbd1lvh1/player

I am making a cozy little game where you run a small electronics repair shop. You take old devices apart, figure out what went wrong and bring them back to life. There is something surprisingly meditative about the whole process.

I want the repairs to feel realistic in how electronics actually work, while still being approachable if you dont know anything about electronics There is guidance along the way, and hopefully you will pick up a few things as you play.

The game currently includes 8 device types: radios, handheld consoles, mobile phones, cassette players, old school TVs, VHS players, digital cameras and laptops. There are 42 different faults, ranging from dirty contacts and worn belts to broken screens and failed chips. With up to three faults on one device, that adds up to over 1 400 possible repair combinations.

As your reputation grows, you unlock new devices and more challenging repairs, upgrade your tools and move from a garage into your own storefront. Between customer jobs, you can browse "FixBay" to buy broken electronics, restore them and try to turn a profit.

The game is made in Godot and assets in Blender. This is my first attempt at a 3D game, and I am very excited for this! It is very meditative to play! The plan is to publish as a computer game and VR.

You can try it out for free here: https://magson-games.itch.io/tiny-fix

It is still very much in beta, and feedback is very welcome! Hope you like it

How a friend and I decided to build a destruction game from scratch with zero budget and no team

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone!

Glad to be here. I want to tell you how this whole thing started.

One evening my friend and I were sitting in front of the TV talking about the new Witcher game. At some point one of us said: why don't we make a co-op game about destruction, built on real physics? That's how Too Angry to Clean was born.

Here's the thing about our project: you can break everything except trees and mountains. We'd wanted to make something fun together for years, but we both had day jobs. Three months ago we both quit to finally do it. We write all the code ourselves, no AI. And as you've probably guessed, no budget either.

We really wanted the game to be fun to play. We both know what it's like to get home from work late at night and still have chores to do and a family to look after. You want to play something, but you don't want to think. So we're making a game you can jump into to switch off and blow off steam after a long day, or just keep running while watching YouTube video.

There will be enemies. You can hit them with magic or with whatever is around you. The whole map can be destroyed, so you'll have to keep changing tactics. The enemies are smart, and each one needs its own approach.

We've attached some gameplay. It's still in development and there are a few bugs, but I think you'll get the idea. We put a lot of work into optimizing our C++ code, so it runs really well. The video was captured in Unreal Engine.

The game also has co-op if you want to play together, and PvP if you'd rather compete and find out who's stronger. And you play as pretty girls. There's an arena too, where you can set records and earn in-game rewards for your spot on the leaderboard. You get a bunch of spells, from ice grenades all the way up to a nuclear bomb.

Right now we're only at the announcement stage. If this sounds like your kind of game and you'd like to try it, here's our Steam page: STEAM

We'd be really grateful if you support us and add the game to your wishlist. It helps us get the game in front of more players.

I made snakes & ladders where you place the snakes & ladders yourself

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Classic snakes & ladders is pure luck based, you just roll the dice and hope for the best. but i thought what if we add a bit strategy in it

So i made Climb & Bite. a game where board starts empty and players build it. Half the blocks has ladder or snake to pick up. once you get it then on your turn you can use it before you roll.

so now it's not just luck but a proper strategy game. the snakes you place can hurt others but yourself as well. same for ladder. so now each snake and ladder is carefully placed to target other players. that makes it much harder to avoid

after some initial test i also added a feature of Power cards that gives players some perks like Protection against snakes for next turn, making opponent walks backward for 2 turns or just skip the whole turn etc.

play it with friends online or just with Computer offline, its fun both ways. also it has other features like shop items for different theme and daily rewards.

Note: it's in pre-registration right now. Full release is in early November.

AI disclosure: AI tools were used in making code and store-art. but idea of game is original.

Pre-register on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maziminds.climbandbite

Happy to answer anything about the design or how it's built.

I'm working on incremental strategy game where settlement building meets Total War-style battles

Hi everyone!

I'm working on an incremental strategy game where you build a settlement and grow it into a powerful army, with Total War-style battles.

The idea is pretty simple: you start with a small settlement, build and upgrade structures, grow your economy, and research new technologies. As your settlement develops, you can raise regiments and build a stronger army to fight increasingly larger battles.

I'd love to get some feedback on the idea and the Steam page. Does the concept look interesting to you? Would you play something like this?

Recent dev footage of our upcoming title Cold Salvage

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This week we have been working on the polish and atmosphere of our next title, which has been in solo development since 2022, with our first round of external funding giving us a team and a boost to a vertical slice over the last ten months. No updated trailer yet, but we are really proud of the feel we've managed to carve out here.

Cold Salvage is an evidence-gathering co op survival horror game. Familiar game loop, fresh take on fear. Our bet is that the mechanical balance and tense game loops of something like Phasmophobia can find a home with people who love critter sci-fi! Also, the genre shift has you playing as an engineer - where your tools are used to access and repair the wreck as well as identify the threats. Blue collar horror and teamwork, with tension favoured over jumpscares.

AI Stance: our IDEs ship with tools to help with code, but we think AI art, writing, and even machine translations are taking industry jobs away and turning out soulless immoral garbage. We would rather take the heat for asset store kitbashing and crunchy art assets than allow any AI art in our game. Do forgive us for the rough edges in the clip ❤️

Ravenshade Asylum — My first indie horror game inspired by Silent Hill and Outlast

Thumbnail

My friend and I decided to start gaming as our career path and made a game following youtube tutorials, whereas we used GenAi for the picture in the menu screen and codes. We used free assets from Unity Assets store and Sketchfab. I hope to find further guidance so that I can learn a lot. Ravenshade Asylum tends to be an atmospheric horror inspired by Silent Hill and Outlast. It follows the story of Adrian Walker, a journalist who sneaked in an abandoned asylum to uncover the mysteries of what happened and the events that led to its closure.

Trailer of my point-and-click puzzle game

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I made a new trailer of my point-and-click puzzle game a while back. The old one was made when I had only 1 chapter and around 10 min of gameplay. Now I've finished Ch3 (almost finished Ch4!), so the new visuals are added.

A few words about the game:
Twin Study is a point-and-click puzzle game with light horror atmosphere. It's a story about the death of a twin, while the other one recounts the events leading up. It features language-themed puzzles connected to the protagonist's thoughts.

Thanks!

Gen AI usage disclosure:

Gen AI is used to help refactor some codes. All art and the majority of codes are human-made.

I made a restaurant tower defense! Let me know what you think

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello!

I'm a solo indie dev, and I've spent the last few months working on my second game: Way Too Many Cooks!

I've just published the Steam page, and I'm working hard to get a playable demo ready in the next few months. The game is still a bit rough around the edges, but I thought it would be a good time to start sharing the concept and visuals and see what people think!

The game is a tower defense roguelike set in a restaurant instead of your typical fantasy setting. Your towers are actual cooks that you can recruit and place in your dining room, while your enemies are hungry customers trying to reach the exit.

You can improve, expand, and customize your restaurant to create combos with your cooks and maximize their potential. Cooks can also activate synergies with one another (similar to an autochess game) to boost their stats, unlock new abilities, debuff customers, or earn you extra money.

I still have a lot of work ahead of me and plenty of features to develop, but I'd love to hear what you think of the concept, trailer, and Steam page so far!

I'm also open to any ideas or suggestions for features you'd like to see in the game. And of course, don't forget to wishlist it if it sounds like your kind of game. The demo is coming in the next few months!

I wanted the base in Phosphor Command to feel like a place you actually built, not just an upgrade screen

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

I've been working on a game called Phosphor Command, a real-time tactics game with a base builder behind it.

One of the things I wanted to get right was the forward operating base.

I didn't really want the base to just be a screen where you buy upgrades and watch numbers go up. I wanted you to actually see your company of troops and base growing around you.

You start with a pretty bare compound and a few squads.

As you make money from contracts, you can start expanding it. You build barracks to house more troops, facilities to support your operations, research buildings to unlock new technology, transportation infrastructure to move your squads around, and eventually much more.

The important part is that these aren't just icons on a management screen.

You actually build them into the base, and then see and walk around them. As your company grows, so does the number of troops walking around the base.

The layout of the base changes as you develop it, and you can walk around with your troops and see what you've built.

I'm trying to make the base useful, but also make it feel like somewhat of a home rather than something cold and static.

Your upgrades affect what your company is capable of, while the money you spend developing the base is money you can't spend elsewhere.

Upgrades also take time to build. Some require preliminary research, while others have prerequisites that need to be met first.

And in Phosphor Command, there is a threat that will eventually come to your base. I will make a separate post about this mechanic another time.

When it reaches your position, you don't get a separate abstract "base defence" screen. You defend the actual base you've spent the campaign building.

The fortifications you've invested in, the positions you've prepared, the troops you've kept available, and the decisions you've made several cycles earlier all become relevant.

That's one of the things I like most about the base system: it's both where you prepare for your own operations and something you eventually have to defend.

I've attached a showcase showing the base developing from an early compound into a much larger installation. You can also see a snippet of the defence mechanic, the research tree, and some of the different upgrades you can build.
