Juniors and Seniors can't live in Cardinal Court, it's only for Sophomores. You will 100% need to find a place off campus.

Hello adult here: With tuition and rent covered (dang!) all your expenses are food, insurance, gas, utilities, and fun. These should be affordable on 15 hours a week a month, frankly. If not, you have options: * you might need student loans. Your mom will need to help you. Student loans can be used on living expenses so you can be a student. Pay off the loans after you’re not in school fulltime, with this low amount, you’ll be okay. * Sell your car, no more insurance. * meal plans are expensive—remove it for next semester and cook everything yourself.
you do need to find your own place to live next year, that’s not a your-mom problem.

Also, I suggest gently reaching out to Student Counseling or TimelyCare. It sounds like you are dealing with a lot right now, and talking to someone might be the first step toward healing and moving forward.

I understand that waiting for a callback can be frustrating. Sometimes, it is because the application pool is so large that it takes time to work through the applications. But keep trying and follow up.

Honestly those jobs don’t stay around or they take a month to get back to you. Many of those jobs also just won’t hire any more people (even when people quit).

Csl plasma, sell some blood. 90 minutes or less. You can do that for extra money and meet new friends. They would be your blood brothers and sisters. In your first month at CSL Plasma, you can potentially make between $700 and $900 if you strictly donate twice a week.

Hate to say it but I agree with others saying to cut back on clubs. It sucks, and you certainly don’t have to stop going to all of them entirely. You can weigh week to week what you have time for and show up when you can, then try to find chances to hang out with folks from there outside of meeting times to keep those relationships strong. Even when I didn’t have time to go to club meetings when I was there, I’d still try and grab coffee or lunch with my friends from clubs and it went a long way.

I don't know if this will be helpful, but have you looked into jobs through ISU? There are on-campus positions that will keep you involved while still helping your financial situation. Also, have you talked to your advisor? Or the Dean of Students' office? They may have additional resources that can help.

I got yelled at a few weeks ago for not going in on one of the days because I had things going on related to school, so my only option is cutting the hours with hoping the store here doesn’t get mad

I work for this company at a store at home and then transferred to this store to work here while at school. This job is in healthcare which gives me experience for my career. I work at this store here and one at home. I cannot quit my job because then I have no money coming in.

are you expecting to keep this job after graduation? or are you working towards a degree that will get you to a different job? you could tell the company back home that you can now only work there during breaks/summer
r/ilstu • u/Nervous-Layer-74 • 3d ago
I can’t necessarily quit my job as it’s with a good company and i am with the same company back at home. But I can cut my hours down if needed

this, or instacart. i did instacart throughout my two years at ISU and made plenty. there's a couple higher end neighborhoods over there that looove to tip. and you decide when you do it. i would run a couple deliveries when i was getting too distracted/needed a break from hw. it worked out great for my adhd brain honestly

Become a DoorDash driver. Can do it on your own time and my experience here is you make about 25-30 a hour. But just save a bit for taxes and track miles.

You can be social without having a regular appointed time in your calendar that you feel obligated to. The only answer is cutting back on clubs. If you cut your work hours, as you said, you will not have money to afford what you need.

Part of the reason I transferred was so that I can get involved and join things. I need the social aspect physically and mentally for my mental health. This is why im considering cutting some of the work hours.

This seems like a venting post, but it sounds like you need to drop your clubs. Keep your income based time commitments and your class schedule and study hours. Contrary to popular belief, college isn’t all about having a good time. Most students have to work their asses off to make it work, and it sounds like you are one of them even with the leg up of having your tuition and rent covered. Ditch the clubs and get into a routine with work and class before adding extracurriculars back into your schedule slowly. It sounds like you could use that extra time to rest.

Where are you located? Move to cali or oregon, if you are good enough I think Blizzard is hiring, if not there are a lot of options for small companies in that area. Super competitive field. Surprisingly a lot of companies want you in person or at least hybrid in these roles. Good luck.
if you are also interested in tutoring kiddos apply to America Reads/America Counts via the Redbird Careers tab! If not all good just thought I would mention it

Your idea on how to fix frat culture sure is stuck somewhere or just doesn’t exist.

So what do you suggest? I've even struggled finding work in indie game studios
