From the article:
"WBD spent £263 million last year on development of the studios and “assets relating to the tour,” according to the report. The expansion will create an additional 400,000 square feet of production space and facilities, including 10 new sound stages, increasing the studio’s production capacity by over 50%. It is on track to complete in Q2 next year."
"Among other high-profile projects, HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” series, due to launch this Christmas, is currently in production at Leavesden as is Robert Pattinson-led “The Batman 2” (although last week the film was paused after director Matt Reeves had to step away for a “family matter.”)"

In several books, especially OOtP Hermione arrives at the Burrow or Grimauld Place a few days before Harry does so I wonder what she and Ron talk about. Or just in general, how do they hang out, what do they do? Does Hermione mostly hang out with Ginny? That would be a cool thing for the series to explore I think, it would also flesh out their relationship along the way.

To those who are more intimately familiar with the novels, how exactly would you structure the events in the novels as episodes, especially for later books?
I just revisited my second reading of Goblet of Fire. There’s a lot of hope over this series being more faithful to the books in that there’s far more screen time than the movies could have allowed. That’ll definitely be a benefit for the various subplots we never got to see adapted. However, there’s one hurdle when it comes to Rowling’s writing that I wonder how the show will be able to handle it.
I realized during the chapters with Voldemort and then Barty Crouch Jr. that so much is spent just having them monologue or spout exposition, it’s no mystery why those all got whittled down on the films. Having characters in novels do this works perfectly as the books can allow readers to conjure up the images in their own heads. For television, I wonder if they’ll have to resort to doing flashbacks to really convey all of that. Assume that GoF will be 8 episodes. Does that mean Episode 7 will be Voldemort’s appearance and confrontation with Harry, and then the season finale will be part-flashback via Barty Jr exposition part-epilogue? Or does the flashback get a whole episode in 7 thus Voldemort’s is in 6, with 8 just winding things down.
Structurally, I can imagine Prisoner of Azkaban would be a lot easier to work as a season, as the info dump you get in the Shrieking shack can probably be adapted as a flashback story for Episode 5 or 6, and then you have the… time… to make an exciting penultimate episode and a finale that winds things down.

I wanted to know how you all think they will handle the flying car scene. From what I remember from the book, the excitement of flying in the car quickly wore off and it was actually pretty boring until they hit the whomping willow. However, it’s a pretty big showpiece event for the season that they can’t gloss over quickly.
So, I’m wondering how they might structure those events. I hope they show Hermione looking for Ron and Harry and Molly and Arthur finding the car gone. Maybe they could also show Dumbledore and McGonagall being rushed away to deal with the boys at the feast and everyone wondering why. Very curious and want to know what you all think!

I’m probably wrong but these two interpretations of the castle remind me of “normal” castles.
I don’t mind it necessarily, but Hogwarts is one of the key elements of the stories, so I hope they give us something magical.

I know there’s that one bit with Dumbledore and McGonagall in the trailer, but I was thinking of one between Dumbledore and Snape that goes like this:
Snape: The Malfoy family seems to come up with another winner.
Dumbledore: You mean their son Draco?
Snape: That’s the one. He’s going to be top in everything just like his father.
Dumbledore: Lucius? I never cared for him, always looking down on others less fortunate than him, always so pushy.
Snape: At least he has something to push, Draco Malfoy shows promise. Harry Potter anything but. He is too much like his father.
Dumbledore: Give the boy a chance, Severus, it’s only his first year.
Snape: I have a nose for trouble, Albus, mark my words.

Extract:
Lenny Rush has been asked about his role as Dobby in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter revival series.
Asked if he could share whether he'll be bringing the character to life via makeup, motion capture, or just a voice role, he told The Big Issue magazine: "Oh no! Sorry, I can't.
"But I've seen the route they're going down and how we're gonna do it together and yeah, Dobby's gonna look great. I'm really pleased with him."
However, Lenny - who insisted he's only seen as much as the fans - admitted he is "so excited".
He added: "What I will say is that I'm so excited. The only stuff I've seen is what everyone else has seen, the trailers for the first series."

Paused the trailer on this exact image of Dominic as Harry and he SCREAMS book Harry to me through his expressions in this image. The way his glasses are positioned with his eyes and his smile filled with such relief and joy. I’m dying to see his performance.

The amount of AI posters I have seen for the show is mind boggling. Some are decent, others are downright awful. The worst part is, some people actually think they are real, and then comment on how bad they are.
I’m really excited to see what HBO cooks up for the show, and I have a feelings it’s not going to be just a simple “floating heads” design.
What are some of your ideas for the style/design of the poster?
r/HarryPotteronHBO • u/capamericapistons • 3d ago
The series aims to be as faithful to the books and source material as possible which is exciting because it means we’ll get to see characters that haven’t been in live action yet!
Who are you excited for? Professor Binns? Peeves? Winky?
My vote - Charlie Weasley. He didn’t have a large part in the books but I just love all the weasley’s, they’re all meaningful to me. I’m looking forward to him especially in the first season with rescuing Norbert from Hogwarts.

Potterheads, how do we feel about an animated story sequence about Hogwart's founders when Minerva/Binns tells it to the class? Just like The tale of three brothers from Deathly Hallows?
They could even expand a little more than just what was written in 2nd book, as we have a lot more canon background.

I know this will most likely happen but we’ve not seen footage of every class yet so we can’t be absolutely sure unfortunately.
For the first season, there is certainly no time excuse as there are 8 episodes which is more than enough to adapt the first book. I think seeing more lessons would be a great way to fill the time along with original scenes not from Harry’s perspective.
Here is every class Harry takes in his first year at Hogwarts:
- Flying (confirmed) ✅
- Herbology (confirmed) ✅
- Transfiguration (confirmed) ✅
- Potions (confirmed) ✅
- History of Magic (confirmed) ✅
- Charms (unconfirmed but we’re 100% going to get the Wingardium Leviosa lesson so I think we can be rest assured)
- Defence Against the Dark Arts (unconfirmed but I’m pretty sure we’ll see a couple of lessons because the book mentions one about werewolf bites and generally just Quirrell telling the class about his escapades)
- Astronomy (unconfirmed but I hope we see at least one of the nighttime lessons at the top of the tower)

I know a lot of people disagree with this, but I really hope they keep the silhouette of at least the Great Hall and Grand Staircase Tower for the series 🥹 I know it’s a fresh take and not a remake of the films etc etc but I think - at least from a commercial point of view - some of the Hogwarts silhouette shouldn’t change too much (theme parks etc). I imagine the exterior of the Great Hall will stay fairly close to the film version due to the similarly already shown, but having seen some of the other blueprints and sets from HBO documentary and leaks, etc, it’s hard to tell. That said, I want some new Hogwarts and obviously we are getting that.
Anyone else feel the same?
