Please bear with me, it's a little bit scuffed as I had to make one fast since the old server owner got his account hacked and kicked everyone, it's still a work in-progress but here is the link! https://discord.gg/eKC5kKBBzB

Is this what it feels like to get your Hogwarts acceptance letter?!
Hi everyone! I'm Cody, but you can call me Vaknar. I’m honoured to share that I recently joined Avalanche Software as the new Community Manager. TL; DR: I'm here to be the bridge between Avalanche and you, the Hogwarts Legacy community.
First things first, who is this guy? Well, I’m a midwestern boy but I've been living in Southern California for a few years. Enjoying frequent beach days and catching the occasional wave whenever possible. I’ve been a community manager in gaming for several years, and, of course, I’m a Harry Potter fan! I grew up reading the books, waiting outside the theaters for each movie release, and now I’m ecstatic to be a part of the Hogwarts Legacy team!
I'll be honest, Hogwarts Legacy really pulled me into the wizarding world, and the further in I got, the harder it was to put down. I won’t pretend that I’m an expert quite yet, but I think I'm well on my way! Between the game, the lore rabbit holes, and this community… I reckon it won't be long before I can rattle off obscure trivia tidbits without thinking twice.
I’ve only just started, and while I'm still finding my footing, my goal is straightforward: to make this a space easily worth showing up to. That means celebrating the amazing things you're creating, making sure your voices and feedback reach the right people, and keeping things welcoming and inclusive for everyone.
When I'm not kicking back in the Hufflepuff common room, you'll find me lurking in conversations, listening, interacting with the community and probably asking a lot of questions — I’m very interested in hearing what players think about the game. I promise I'm friendlier than a Chinese Chomping Cabbage, so don't be a stranger and feel free to say hi!
– Cody (Vaknar)

As a Slytherin, one of this MC's secret interests is to descend into the Chamber of Secrets to train Basilisk from time to time so that it will be ready to face Harry Potter a century later (obviously it does not go as planned).
The snake protested last time that MC had used modded spells, which was unfair to the poor Basilisk. This time, MC relied only on the pure, unmodified in-game damage spells and maxima potions (to accelerate the training). Also, Basilisk is immune to dark arts and ancient magic, so those spells are out too.
Despite this, Basilisk didn’t even stand a chance to land a single hit on MC. MC just demonstrated that his power is independent of the mods he uses.
P.S. Rest assured, no harm comes to Basilisk during this process; MC wields the Sword of Slytherin with care, which only stunning the serpent, unlike the Sword of Gryffindor, which would cause much more damage to Basilisk.

Other than the healing potions, I don’t think I used any potion ever and I already finished the main story. Other than to finish some early assignments I guess.

I am more than halfway through, and at this point, i'm getting tired of the dialogue and have started skipping everything. The story itself is pretty shallow, and honestly, it doesn't really matter what dialogue option you pick because your decisions hardly, if ever change the direction of the narrative.
I've seen some spoilers on sending Sebastian to Azkaban, and i'm kinda looking forward to doing it just so i can finally feel the weight of my decision in the game. In fact, i would send everyone (Natty, Poppy, Ominus, Amit) to Azkaban too if I could. I wish the game gave more agency to players.

I loved the original games on PC, especially the second Harry Potter game, but I felt that it was missing more gameplay or something. I also felt that we should be able to play as other characters or have a companion, because that was what the movies and books were all about. To have friends that follow you no matter what, I have implemented a companion system. I also tried to implement a system where you can change houses, so Harry can be in Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Gryffindor. So yeah, it is a bit like an RPG; there is also an RPG shop now when you walk over to a random seller in the game. I have also added seasons, so you can get the feeling that Harry is at the school at different times of the year, and you can change them yourself. Later, I will add a school system like the video game Bully, where you have to attend your lessons on time, actually learn something, and take exams to pass your classes, or you will lose house points.

I’m feeling like clearing out the entire map of Merlin Trials, astronomy tables, bandit camps etc, and oh my god I just remembered I did this one in my last play by chance and got so frustrated and it took me about an hour to finally finish it. Now it took me a couple of tries just by luck hahaha.
This is a jumping Merlin Trial located just a little above the North Ford Bog Entrance floo flame and I HATE IT, it’s by far the hardest one I did 😂
Not much, I just had to complain here!
EDIT: typo

For everyone who loves the soundtrack of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on PC, give this little piece of musical art a listen!
For some reason, this track was left out of the final game, which makes me wonder what it was originally intended for. If the developers had decided to include it, where do you think it would have played in the game?

So I recently got back on Hogwarts Legacy and I remember people complained (and rightfully so) about using Alohomora in a lock and then the game asking players to complete a rough lock picking minigame which didn't really make sense.
So I was thinking of a new version to keep some type of mini game for locks but make it more lore realistic and came up with this idea:
After casting Alohomora the camera focuses on the internals of your wand.
The new minigame would be similar to a connect the dots or a power routing mechanic seen in other games.
The player would have to connect coloured lines to nodes or dots along the wand to the tip where they would connect all together.
The higher the lock level the more nodes and colours would have to be matched within the wand game.
Possible timer involved for highest lock levels.
Each wand type, personal to the player could have different internal visuals to show wand wood type, core and handle type.
Once the player unlocks level 3 Alohomora all level 1 locks would just animate this minigame automatically and unlock without the player having to play the minigame.
I noted down some very rough visuals to show how it could work. Of course if you have seen Deathly Hallows: Part 2 when it shows the internals of the elder wand cracking up under power you can see where my visual style would come from in game.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this and any changes or additions you would like to share. Thank you.

My first game after 10 years of video gaming hiatus. Started in 2025 July, finished it this year in July. I took many months of break in between due to my busy schedule and due to trying out other games. Say goodbye to Myzer (Miser) Malfoy and adieu to this subreddit until HL 2 comes along. While I was playing the game, I visited this reddit nearly daily. So it's only right that I do a little ritual here in saying goodbye to yall. Time to move on to other games for me!

37 days ago I got my first trophy in Hogwarts Legacy. Today I got the platinum trophy. That's an average of 3 hours of playtime a day! Yes, I work full-time. No, I don't have kids. A couple weeks of vacation did wonders for my progress.
I'm very happy, especially considering my issues with inferi. They give me the heebie-jeebies. I had literal nightmares that jolted me awake during my sleep after a gaming session.
I enjoyed most other parts of the game, however I did encounter a quite annoying bug during my last playthrough (reaching the Map Chamber only), where I couldn't start a quest. Had to load up an older save, which solved the issue. I would've expected such bugs to have been fixed a long time ago!
Excited to see what is in store for us in Hogwarts Legacy 2! I hope to see some sort of morality system. I want my actions to have consequences, e.g. if I'm leaning towards dark magic.
It would aid toward the replayability, which is almost non-existent in this game. It was honestly a real chore to get the three remaining "house" trophies, playing the same 2+ hours sequence over and over again (however there is one house-specific quest for each house, which is entertaining).
And then I desperately need an improvement of the flying mechanics. Sure, you get used to it. But it's not good, let's be honest.
In general a very beautiful game to look at. I enjoyed exploring the castle and Hogsmeade the most. Would've loved the hamlets to be more unique and different from one another. Would've made for a more lively world, that, in this game, sometimes feels too vast and empty as it is. Gameplay is a bit repetitive at times. Enjoyed the third trial a lot; was a very refreshing experience. And Poppy's questline was easily my favorite relationship questline.

I am very confused about the mods in it but is there any now on the console version if not any help on making malfoid in the game

In the PC version, if you look up or down with the mouse and then start moving, the camera slowly returns to a level view. There is no option in the menus or the .ini files to turn this off.
The game runs on a modified Unreal Engine 2. Unreal has its own built-in camera-centering settings (bSnapToLevel, bLookUpStairs, and so on), but this game does not use them for this behavior, so changing them in User.ini does nothing.
The real source is the game's own camera code:
BaseCam, in kwGame.u) asks the player controller for a snap rotation (KWHeroController.GetSnapRotation).bShouldSnapRotation() returns true.HPHeroController (in HGame.u), bShouldSnapRotation decides whether snapping is active at all. It does this with a conditional jump that skips to "return false" when its condition fails. So the whole feature hangs on that one function.
This changes the snap speed to zero at runtime. It is easy to try and easy to undo.
User.ini in Documents\Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.F5=, and change it to:F5=set HPHeroController rSnapRotationSpeed (Pitch=0)
The game may reset this when a level loads, so you might need to press F5 again after loading.
This edits the function so it always returns false. You need a hex editor such as HxD (free).
System folder and make a backup copy of HGame.u.HGame.u in HxD.07 6E 00 77 01 9D 2A 16 04 82 82 9A 39 3A 19 01 9D 05 00 01
0x81EF2.07 to 06, and save the file. The byte 07 is a "jump if the condition is false" instruction. The byte 06 is an unconditional jump to the same place, which is the line return false. So the function now always returns false, snapping is never active, and nothing else in the file moves (the size and every offset stay the same).
HGame.u from the retail game. If you get no match, or more than one, stop and do not edit. Your version may be different, or the file may already be patched.Credits to Claude and Gemini. Couldn't have done it without them.

I noticed there are huge chunks of the area where I can’t actually conjure decorations (normally in caves or flat spots on cliffs where stuff naturally should fit). Is this just how the game is? I’m a little bummed I can’t put at least a bench or something on some of these spots lol.
