Since apparently we can't go five minutes without a new controversy, I went through all the stats from the 2021–22 season through the 2025–26 season, looking at penalties for and against, both at home and on the road.
TL;DR - The Knights are at the bottom of the league in both penalties for and penalties against. The refs don't call many penalties in their games, either at home or on the road, for either team. It's not "Vegas Flu", we just play boring hockey.
Between the 2021–22 and 2025–26 seasons, the Knights had 1,095 penalties for (Power Play Opportunities, or PPO) and 989 penalties against (Penalty Kill Opportunities, or PKO), for a differential of +106.
The Knights had the second-fewest PPO and the fewest PKO in the league, while their differential was the fourth-highest.
Over that time span, the league average was 1,195 PPO/PKO. That corresponds to 2.91 PPO/PKO per game, or 5.82 penalties called per game.
At home, the Knights had 563 PPO and 476 PKO, for a +87 differential. That is 2.75 PPO and 2.32 PKO per game, for a 0.42 differential. The Knights had an extra PPO compared to their opponent every ~2.5 games.
Compared to the league average, at home the Knights are getting 0.16 fewer PPO and 0.59 fewer PKO per game. The refs call 0.75 fewer penalties per game in Vegas, or 30.75 fewer per season.
On the road, the Knights had 532 PPO and 513 PKO, for a +19 differential. That is 2.60 PPO and 2.50 PKO per game, for a 0.10 differential. The Knights had an extra PPO compared to their opponent every ~10 games.
Compared to the league average, on the road the Knights are getting 0.31 fewer PPO and 0.41 fewer PKO per game. The refs call 0.72 fewer penalties per game in their games on the road, or 29.52 fewer per season.
So.
Both at home and on the road, the Knights get penalized less than their opponents.
During the Knights' games, both teams get penalized less than average, both at home and on the road. The Knights get 0.50 fewer penalties per game compared to league average. Their opponents get 0.24 fewer penalties per game when they play against the Knights.
The Knights get 0.15 more PPO per game at home than on the road (roughly one extra PP every ~6.5 games), while having 0.18 fewer PKOs per game (roughly one fewer penalty against them every ~5.5 games).
According to an article I found from last year, which looked at data from the 2021–22 through 2023–24 seasons, teams had, on average, 3.2% fewer penalties called against them at home than on the road (source). Over the same period, the Knights had 8.4% fewer penalties called against them at home than on the road. Calgary had the biggest difference at 9.8%, but the Knights should be still near the top of the league in terms of home-ice advantage when it comes to penalty calls.
That advantage has decreased over the past two seasons, though: the Knights had 5.7% fewer penalties called against them at home than on the road over that period.
And that's it.
The data I used is from hockey reference. I made an excel sheet but it is ugly as fuck and barely readable.
I am ESL so be nice about my English or I'll cry :(
