For Sale Giving away a new ReTerminal Sticky to someone - accidentally got two

Post image

Admins, please delete if not allowed!

I accidentally got two of these, and they're so low-cost I decided to give one away through my site here. Posting here because I know people have questions about it and want to try it.

An important note: This is done through an email newsletter giveaway. I want to be clear about that because I love this community and engaging with it, and I don't ever want to post or share something that smells fishy, email is just how I communicate with my community. Please don't feel pressured to do so, I just thought this is one place people might be interested in getting a Sticky :-)

User Review A love letter for Koreader

Thumbnail

I tried so many times to get into KOReader because, on paper, I should have absolutely loved it. I love modding my devices, personalizing them, and having all the good features I like.

But... tbh, I was superficial. I let the rather bad looks deceive me. I judged a book by its cover. Literally. I never fell in love. Until now.

I love how the community has made it so satisfying to mod, with all the plugins and patches. Huge thanks to the developers and everyone contributing to the project, because it was already amazing before but now is amazing FOR ME.

I finally got rid of the extra-complicated menu that I honestly don't want on my way all the time while reading, and can edit my fonts from a single menu page. I'm spoiled, I know lol. There's X-Ray! And you can customize your library! And you can sync all your e-readers, including my Kindle Oasis, my Kobo Clara color and even the X4 with Crosspoint. I know you could do that before, but the UI was too ugly for me. I'm sorry. 😔 Apparently, I'm a terrible person and a UI snob.

Now I feel like I have the beautiful look and library organization of Kobo Nickel, plus most of Kindle's most interesting features, and underneath it all, the awesome power machine that is KOReader.

So yeah, apparently all KOReader needed was for it to stop being ugly and for me to give it a(nother) chance. Better late than never, I guess.

Really thank you to everyone that put their time on this amazing project from the beginning, and to everyone that finally made it enjoyable for me.

Accessories My favourite way of night reading 🛋️

Post image

I recently bought this little lamp for night reading and it’s been a game changer when it comes to reading at night. It’s so much easier on the eyes and allows me to set the brightness on my Kindle at low level. It’s super flexible, has three different warmths and brightness is adjustable. I love it.

Discussion ¿Cómo es su ecosistema de lectura?

Post image
44 Upvotes

Buying Advice eReader Recommendation...with a catch

• Upvotes

Okay, so this is unorthodox and maybe too niche, but that's why I'm coming to ask you fine people directly.

I am a pilot. I like to read, yes, but I also need to jot down notes, instructions, etc. While I do have an iPad, I prefer to keep it dedicated to navigation, additionally, at night, it can be jarring on the vision, despite various methods to reduce the impact.

I would love to have an eReader that allows me to bring my books on trips, but also has writing capabilities, so that I can use it as the primary note taking tool in the cockpit, especially at night or in low light conditions where preserving your vision is critical. An eReader is much less harsh. That, paired with typically great battery life, is why I'm pursuing this route.

I haven't researched stylus options to know whether a battery free solution is viable - I have an Apple pen and despise that thing as it requires frequent recharging at the most inopprtune times.

Budget and size aren't much of a factor. I don't want to add something too expensive for the sake of it when a viable cheaper alternative exists. It doesn't need to be a color reader, but it's okay if one checks the boxes. Ideally, it should be reasonably performant so I can quickly bounce between notes. If there's significant delay in navigation, that might be a no go.

I forget all of the devices at Best Buy I put my mitts on, but the Kobo Color stood out to me as being reasonably snappy. I feel like they had some reMarkable stuff too. But again, I defer to the community for its infinite wisdom.

Buying Advice Switching from Kindle Oasis to Kobo

I’ve lost my beloved kindle oasis and now I’m looking for another e-reader. Kobo Libra Color peaked my interest so I really want know if it’s a better option for me, who always had a kindle and knows anything else.

I don’t know if it would work normally for me, ‘cause Kobo does not have an official store in my country and I would have to buy internationally.

Would love to know from the ones who own one!

Discussion How to organize your manga from chapters to volumes with their own covers

Hi everyone, I hope you're having a nice day.

A few months ago I made a post in this subreddit and because of that a lot people asked me how to organize their own series into volumes and add covers. If you have 50+ series on your device it is already a really hard task if you try to organize them manually one by one (trust me, I used to do that and it took me a lot of hours).

The process is simple: Find information about what chapters go inside of each volume and its covers, right?

But I realised there's not a website that tells you exactly what chapter go inside of what volume in an organized way (accordingly to the japanese serialization), thats why I decided to create a website like that and gather my own data about each series in a single place: Tomugi.com

Home page
Catalog
Inside a series

Step by step

  • Already have your chapters? Just click "Organize Automatically", and Tomugi will organize them into volumes and generate .cbz files for you. If you want to choose a different output format (EPUB or PDF) or download covers for all your volumes in a single click, you can use Tomugi Desktop.
  • Don't have the chapters yet? No problem! Tomugi Desktop can also connect to Suwayomi, an open-source manga downloader, and handle the entire process for you with just one click.

What is Tomugi?

Tomugi started as an index and catalog providing information about manga chapters and volumes. Nowadays, it's gradually evolving into a collection of tools designed to help you organize, manage, and automate your manga library.

Tomugi desktop

Some other features include:

  • Built-in manga reader
  • Sync your reading progress between your PC and mobile
  • Optimize your manga files
  • Create collections
  • Find duplicate images
  • Edit and manage your files
  • Automate workflows
  • Translate manga using local AI models
  • Text-to-speech narration
  • OPDS support
  • Control Tomugi Desktop remotely using the mobile app
  • Game controller support for navigation and reading
  • And much more!

Want to try it out?

Tomugi is still in beta, and I'm hoping to release a stable version by the end of this year.

If you'd like to try the full app, join our Discord or send me a DM here with your Tomugi username, and I'll give you a completely free trial.

Beta testers, feedback, questions, suggestions, and comments are always welcome! They really help me improve Tomugi and make it better for everyone. ❤️

Buying Advice What to choose for writing ?

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for a large color e-reader for reading and note-taking, and I'm torn between a few options or totally open to other suggestions.

My key needs are :

- a large color screen

- less screen lag ( I suffer from migraines and need something very eye-friendly)

- something very strong (with a good contact if i have any issue), i will use it for going to uni everyday

For context, I previously tested the Kobo Libra Colour and loved how it felt to write on, but I need a larger size (and in color) but i didn't test anything else cause i'm in french

I was looking at the Boox Note Air 6 C (noticing it has poor ratings on Amazon France, around 2.7/5) which i love that its in android BUT i read a lot of bad things about durability and contact ... and the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft

What would you recommend for my needs? If you know an other e ink tablet ofc you can tell me !!

Hello fellow e-readers! I am selling my hardly used Palma 2 (with case). I currently use my iPad mini to read books (and a kinda dusty Kindle). Hoping to recoup costs from the Palma 2.

Ideally pay through PayPal. Shipping costs included and can provide tracking information. Prefer shipping in the USA but can be open to other countries (I just need to research on how to do that more concretely).

Attached are some pictures but can provide more pictures upon request.

Happy Thursday!

Buying Advice Boox Air note 6C vs Colorsoft Scribe (or alternatives)

I've been looking for a larger screen (10-11 inch) color reader for reading regular books, comics, manga, magazines... basically anything. I'd really like to cut down my regular screen time. I'll likely use Libby a lot, perhaps Hoopla and other apps if possible.

It seems the Air 6C and Colorsoft Scribe fit my needs the most, even though I really don't even need the note taking abilities at all. How is everyone's experience with these? The Air 6C seems appealing for the open ecosystem, but the Scribe is also appealing for the straightforward nature and brand reputation.

Does either really excel for reading purposes, or is there another I should be looking at?

Buying Advice Is the Xteink worth getting if I already own a Kindle Paperwhite?

Hey everyone!

I've had a Kindle Paperwhite for about 2 years now and absolutely love it. However, I've been seeing a lot of ads for the Xteink lately, and I'm starting to wonder if I should get one too.

The biggest selling point for me is definitely its size and portability.

I rarely bring my Kindle with me when I'm out and about, simply because it doesn't fit in my everyday bag. I usually carry a small crossbody that barely fits my phone, keys, and wallet, so my Kindle mostly gets used at home or at the beach when I'm on vacation.

The Xteink, on the other hand, looks small enough to carry everywhere. I love the idea of pulling it out on the bus or whenever I have a few minutes to spare and getting some reading done instead of doom scrolling on my phone. I am looking at the x4 pro model, as it has the backlight option, which I love on my Kindle as well

My biggest concern is switching between the two devices. If I'm reading a book on my Kindle at home and want to continue on the Xteink while commuting, there's no way to sync my reading progress between them, right? How do you guys deal with that?

As for getting books onto the device, that's not really an issue for me. I already sideload most of my books onto my Kindle anyway. I live outside the US and EU, so I usually just find an EPUB file and use Send to Kindle or email it directly to my device. I don't use any library apps like Libby, Kindle Unlimited, or the Kindle Store, so I'm not too concerned about losing access to those features.

So, for those of you who own both a Kindle and an Xteink, do you actually find yourselves using both? Or does one end up collecting dust?

Would love to hear your experiences and whether you think it's worth getting one as a second portable e-reader!

Discussion Obook 5 vs. Xteink X4 Pro Darkmode.

Can anyone that has either of these devices show me what they look like in darkmode? I’m debating between these two and I think it will come down to which has a better quality darkmode.

Also for those that have both can you tell me which one you prefer? I like the look of the Obook 5 and the fact it has a usb-c charging port. However the X4 Pro is the only one that I can find a protective case for. Thanks :)

Discussion A great purse “kindle” app option

Post image
15 Upvotes

Just throwing this option out there for anyone wanting full access on the go to their entire kindle library or a true fully portable option…

Loving my Viwoods Aipaper Reader, which is the same size as my iPhone 17 pro max. It’s an android based device so you can use any reader app (koreader, etc) in the google play store. But you can use the kindle app as well. Love the quality. It’s so lightweight and fits even in a small clutch purse or any pocket.

Buying Advice E-reader recommendation

Hi! I’m going to be a bit fussy but wondering if there’s a device I haven’t considered please.

I currently read on my iPhone via kindle app, I love the brightness/sharp lit screen, and the clear ‘page turning’. Don’t much care for how the app is organised, but I have a lot of kindle books, and a small amount in Apple Books which I’m reasonably indifferent to. Every now and then I buy a month of kindle unlimited too.

I’d really like an e-reader for ‘focused’ reading. I really dislike warm dim screens, and the ‘flash’ refresh the e ink displays do. Which I appreciate must be all the screens.

I love the size of the kindle basic 6”, so debated that - with the page turning option on, I was wondering how much closer it sits to how the kindle app functions (I understand it wont be the same!). I would prefer colour for book covers etc, so was also considering the kobo clara colour as it’s also very pretty, but I’m guessing as I’m quite immersed in kindle it’s basically pointless?

Are there any other suggestions please?

Buying Advice Hello, Readers! [Share/Cloud] [Library Books]

My Question is...

Is there an e-reader that supports Share/CloudLibrary? Is there a way to get Share/Cloud library books on an ereader? Kobo is preferred but not necessary. I am looking to get a different e-reader.

Discussion KOBO EREADER 🫶🏻✨

Hi!

Meron kasi ako nakita old version or second hand kaso asa 4K+ and di afford ng extra money ko. Baka may suggestions kayo saan makakabili sa Philippines ng second hand na pasok sa 3K. Thank you so much!

User Review Went from Kobo libra H2O to Libra color to kindle pw to boox palma 2 now back to kindle

This has pretty much been my ereader journey, i loved my libra h2o and still regret selling it for the color, the screen door affect on the color drove me nuts so i sold it for the kindle pw 2024. Absolutely loved the crisp text however i started to find it a bit bulky to carry around so tried the boox palma 2. I loved the freedom of it being an android device but it sometimes felt a bit laggy and text was not as crisp as the kindles. So fast forward to present i bought the new kindle basic in the new aluminum sky, loving the premium feel with the same crisp text again packaged in the perfect 6 inch size. I know a lot of people are anti-amazon and I get it, but the hardware with the flush screen and crisp text i just keep coming back to and I think i’ll be keeping this one for a long time.
