New Player New player concerns

Hi, so im starting to get into WH40k. I played some games on tabletop with friends and watched several YT batte reports. So the deathwatch is the army I like most and played most of the games but when i got into thinking about buying sets etc. my problem is that deathwatch is looking rather scary..weird updates to killteams, deathwatch support detachment concers me if the GW will decide just to make it more like subfaction to have in your other chapters armies. So yeah im asking for any wishfull thinking about our black boys and hope that they dont dissapear from the game (and will be playable)

Question Magnetizing Decimus Kill Team

So I’ve been getting into warhammer and the deathwatch are sick. I got myself an Armageddon battalion box and I’m building the decimus kill team. I’ve magnetized the bodies and arms on 4 dudes so far but I have two questions.

  1. How can I magnetize the pauldrons so that if I change their weapons they can remain the same chapter and I don’t have to buy a deathwatch upgrade kit for the left shoulder? I found some 1mm x 0.5mm magnets on the magnet baron, but I’m not sure if the pauldrons are thick enough to house them, especially the Phobos pads.

  2. How would you go about magnetizing the plasma incinerator option considering it also has an attachment point on the power pack while keeping all magnets hidden?

List List Idea: Tanky Decimus Kill Teams

Hey guys,

since the start of 11th I'm tinkering with the idea of a Deathwatch Horde Marine list. I know it isn't lore accurate but I'm having fun. Before the codex I went to an RTT with a 76 model list with Bastion Task force. I went 0-3 and had a blast. As did my opponents. It's fun for everyone since my opponent can destroy things every turn and I am having fun since i can just push new squads down the field every turn. Now I'm thinking a different spin to gravitate towards the Gravis Detachment.

Right now the idea is the following:

Detachments: Gravis Siege Force, Tactical Brethren and Tacticus Attack Force
Force Disposition: Take and Hold

3x10 Decimus Kill Team with an attached Librarian and the +1OC upgrade (900 Points)

2x10 Indomitor Kill Team with an attached Captain (740 points)

2x Land Speeder (210 points)

1x Stormspeeder Thunderstrike (140 points)

I got the first testmatch coming up on Monday but I'd like some input.
Since the Decimus Kill Team got the Gravis and the Tacticus Keyword in the last update they can benefit from the Detachment ability to have -1 to wound if they are on an objective. Three 10-man-bricks on an objective with 3 OC, effective T6, a 4++ from the Librarian, -1 to wound if the strength of the opponent is higher, access to AoC and the 1CP interrupt strat from Tacticus Assault Force sounds good on paper.

As damage support act the 2 Indomitors, since they are just fantastic. Both have a captain attached to put them continuisly in the tactical doctrine to fall back and shoot if necessary.

I tested the Land Speeders last match and was amazed at how much utility they bring. Theyre fast, can shoot'n scoot, put a dent into elite infantry and light vehicles and have deep strike if need be.
After all that theres not much room and i figured I need some more anti-tank but i was 10 points short for a Gladiator, so I opted for the Stormspeeder since it is also fast as fuck and can be an action monkey for secondary objectives in a pinch.

I got 10 points left over so I gave one of the captains the irrelevant "1 Battleline within 12" can overwatch for free"-Enhancement. I don't think the list will have CP problems, since the captains are generating CP every round but there wasn't anything else to spend it on, since the Librarians can't take any enhancements.

I considered Tacticus Firestorm Force for the strat to shoot into combat but I want to give the Heavy Thunder hammers as much screen time as possible.
Tactical Brethren gives me access to a second armywide fall back and shoot and charge if the Decimus bricks get tied up.
The reactive move strat from the detachment is also a nice to have.

I'm not aiming to win any GTs with this. I know its not the optimal DW way to play but I'm just trying to find cool ways to play our favourite army and not just get stomped.

So, brothers of the watch: Any thoughts?

Question Gravis detachments

Has anyone done any experimenting with the Gravis Linebreaker and siege force detachments? On paper buffing the Indomitor sounds fantastic so I wonder if anyone’s tried it out and can feedback, whether or not the linebreaker or siege force is better, and which other detachments you’d use it with

Question Reiver equipment question

So this is a slightly silly question— not even remotely gameplay relevant, and unlikely to be anytime soon— but it does bear on customizing Marines’ loadout for visual effect, so this seemed like the right subreddit to get feedback and opinions.

Thinking back to the bad old days when Reivers could only have grapnel launchers or grav chutes (and— outside of Spectrus kill teams— could only have one weapon loadout), which seems most appropriate for which loadout? Grapnels for close combat, grav chutes for carbines, or the other way around?

I want to have a consistent look for my Reivers, and this also gives them a tiny bit of futureproofing in case GW ever backtracks and stops being generous with their gear.

So lucky a friend gave me 2 Plasmas and I managed to find one on ebay. I went with Red Talons, Blood Scythes and Disciples of Caliban. I'm starting to love freehanding the chapter symbols. Pew Pew
