Library Toilets

Lads, what the actual fuck is wrong with some of you.

The state of some of these bathrooms is fucking disgusting. If you’re gonna piss in the cubicles, can you at least aim for the fucking bowl? Somehow more piss ends up on the floor and seat than in the toilet.

How the FUCK am I supposed to take a shit when the seat looks like it’s been pressure-washed with piss by some fuckwit who can’t aim?
And don’t even get me started on the amount of you filthy fuckers who take a shit and walk straight out without washing your hands. Are you allergic to soap? Water? Basic fucking hygiene?

Seriously, are you lot like this at home too?
Aim properly. Flush the toilet. Wash your fucking hands. You’re grown fucking men, this should not need explaining.

PSA: I’m a dude too, and I’ve genuinely had enough of you dirty cunts.

I put in so much time and effort into studying for the 3rd in class test and it STILL kicked my ass. Looking for commiserations/shared experiences/a gun a miracle.

Is the exam as bad as the in-class tests?

This is from the Adelaide Uni page. UNSW did it and will revert back to sems in 2028.

Curtin Connect wouldn’t help me waive units with my work experience, so I wrote a script that did it for me. I wanna test it on ~20 people for free

Hello homosapiens,

I’ve seen a lot of posts on here lately from students completely burning out trying to balance rent, casual shifts, and 4 units. As an international student in 3rd-year engineering, I was in that exact spot earlier this year drowning in study, so I built a script to map my background against Curtin unit outlines to waive units—and before Sem 1 starts, I want to run this mapping for ~20 people completely for free to help ease the load and test how accurate it is across different degree structures. If you're curious at first, I actually went straight to Curtin Connect to see if my casual work could waive anything through Credit for Recognised Learning (CRL). They couldn't really help—and it's not their fault. Staff simply don't have the time to parse through 1,000+ unit outlines for you, so the uni puts the entire burden of proof in your hands.

Most assume casual work can only ever waive random electives, but you can actually waive core units in degrees like Business, IT, Health, and Science. Even in accredited Engineering where the bar is high, 1–2 years of solid work can still get core units approved, or you can target flexible electives instead. Resumes usually get rejected because basic duties sound too simple on paper, whereas assessors only care if your tasks match published syllabus learning outcomes. To skip reading handbooks for days, my script indexes Curtin’s unit outlines and matches everyday work tasks directly to the exact rubrics assessors look for.

It worked: I waived 2 units (saved ~$11k in fees) with a 3rd pending, letting me formally underload to 3 units without pushing back my graduation date. Most significantly, it even helped waive a 4th-year Education unit from just casual tutoring—not because I had years of teaching, but because the script mapped actual day-to-day duties (lesson structuring, student feedback, adapting paces) directly to the faculty's published outcomes.

If you want me to run your background through it for free, just send me a DM with your degree name, current progress (e.g. 2nd year, 2nd sem), and a summary of what you've done (work, tutoring, club roles) or your resume/cover letter. Rest assured I have zero interest in your personal data—I've got way too much to lose as a student to do anything shady, and literally nothing to gain anyway. But definitely still feel free to black out/redact any personal info (student ID, address, phone number, financials) from whatever docs you send (my program has no use for that info). The script identifies which units you can waive and gives you the exact wording and breakdown for your official Curtin application (strictly real work, no fake claims). Quick heads-up for internationals: keep the 485 graduate visa rule in mind (needs 2 full study years / ~16 units). That's rarely an issue for 3- or 4-year Bachelor's degrees, but check if you're in a 2-year Master’s (not migration advice; ask Curtin Connect or an agent). Remember CRL is just an offer—if it ever conflicts with your CoE, you can simply decline it. I’m capping this at ~20 people so I don't get swamped alongside my own study. All I ask in return is that you let me know if Curtin approves or rejects it (a redacted screenshot of the decision email) so I know if it worked, plus an optional one-sentence testimonial down the line (up to you). Shoot me a DM if you want to see a sample report first, or reach out anyway if spots fill up / you want general advice on doing the paperwork manually. Good luck for exams peeps, y'all got this!

Nursing electives — which one is easier to pass?

Hey everyone! I’m choosing a nursing elective at Curtin and need to pick one of these:

  • AGEN4000 – Palliative Care
  • NURS4007 – Advanced Wound Care
  • NURS4009 – Clinical Education for Practice

Has anyone taken any of these recently? Which would you say is easier to pass and has a more manageable workload?

I’d love to know what the assessments are like — essays, exams, presentations or group work — and whether the marking is particularly tough.

Any recommendations or experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks! 😊

It’s tough

I’m an international student and I think I’m struggling. I live alone, depressed, have nobody I can ask for support, hay fever, cold&flu, severe period pain, burnout from work, struggling financially, falling behind with my study, on top of that still need to do meal prep because takeout isn’t just possible at this point. Due to sickness it’s difficult to manage everything.

Yes, I’ve tried getting an appointment with Curtin counselling service but it’s always booked out.

Sorry, I’m for complaining. I just don’t know where can I reach out at this point?

chem1007 lab

Hi everyone, I’m currently doing CHEM1007 at Curtin and am overseas due to a family health situation.

Before booking my flights, I informed the UC about my travel dates and received confirmation that the arrangements were okay.

Unfortunately, I’ve now been told that the final make-up lab for Carbohydrate Chemistry is on 19 October, and I’m unable to return to Perth to attend.I land in perth on october 19 in the evening.

At first,i was told that 12 October was the last day now they are saying becuase theres another person so the lab techs can arrange it on 19 october.

I’ve completed my other labs and submitted the pre-lab for this experiment. Has anyone experienced a similar situation or knows what options I might have to complete the remaining lab work remotely? I’m really worried about how this could affect my ability to pass the unit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

RESPONDUS HUMB1001 CHEATING

I just did my HUMB 1001 practical test because I was sick last week. While doing the test, Respondus said I attempted to access another window by swiping on my keypad and shut down my test, although I was able to log back in and complete the rest. I have never had this happen and I've done the previous etest and HUMB1000 etests. I have already messaged my UC but I was wondering if anyone has experience with this issue and what the outcome was?

Would you be interested in a curtin club for Sudan?

Hi All!

I'm looking to start a curtin club revolving around Sudan. The purpose of this club would be dual purpose, both social and political activism.

Goals/Purpose of the club:

1) Educate and raise awareness on Sudan, the conflict, the way its being used as a proxy war, etc.

2) Be a social hub for sudanese students and anyone interested/effected to meet and be supported

3) Raise funds and charity for on the ground grassroots charity groups in sudan.

4) Pressure the government to enact an arms embargo on the UAE, and be more transparent in its dealings with it.

Ideally the club would achieve the goals above via:

1) Organising community events, such as film screenings

2) Organising regular protests

3) Organising education workshops on Sudan

4) Organising educational stalls

5) Writing letters to the government

For this club I would need 10 'founding members.' I wanted to post here and guage interest for such a club. If you have any suggestions as well for what you would like to see in a club like this, please comment :)

psychology honours

what are some tips to get a wam of 80+ during honours?

are we allowed to receive feedback from our supervisors or from tutoring when writing our thesis, as well as forming peer review groups?

is it better to do part-time or full-time?

aside from looking over supervisors and stuff, what should we do prior to the semester starting?

how can we improve in academic writing and in stats? i.e. do we just need to know how to interpret stats, as well as run them?do we also get help running our analyses like the previous years?

is the content more challenging than previous years?

please lmk exactly what honours entails & how to aim for really high marks

thanks in advance :)
