A community member raised a good (and very important!) question regarding whether our sub should have a scammer list. The nature of our community heavily relies on trusting anonymous people, which can create favorable conditions for scammers, so we need ways to counter that. And, it turns out that the most effective ways involve not using a list.
On the surface, having a master list seems like the silver bullet solution, but this problem is a little more nuanced. The biggest issue is that if someone is banned (and they realize they've been banned), they can easily create infinite new accounts. So, the list is moot. It becomes a graveyard of abandoned usernames. (With evidence, we do still occasionally ban people, but it's not very effective for this reason.) We could try to combat that with not allowing anyone with a relatively new account or below a certain level of karma to post, but then we end up excluding a lot of potentially fabulous traders. Our sub remains more varied and interesting with a constant stream of new members, so we want our community to remain accessible. This is why we rely on you to vet your own trades.
Vetting your own trades can take some time, but it is also a great critical thinking skill to develop, so we provide some guidance on how to do that in the wiki.
Since it is our traders that bear the gains and losses of this kind of interaction, we want to empower them to make informed decisions instead of relying on a list that is well-meaning, but incredibly fallible.
To cut down on the frequency of scammers, it's also why we do not allow the exchange of money, even for shipping. If someone thinks they can quickly get cash, that is going to be incredibly alluring. Getting a free handmade good is going to appeal to a much, much smaller subset of scammer. For what it's worth, most folks reported for a non-trade are not scammers, they are someone that was unable to make good on their promise either due to time, money, life events, or an overestimation of their abilities. They're better described as ghosters than scammers. It was never their intent to flake.
And, for those who have asked, we have had a link to r/UniversalScammerList for quite a few years in our "Community List", which is easy to find as a sidebar item on the web version, but is buried in the "About" section of the app. So a lot of folks don't know about it or think we've removed it.
Relatedly, we've created a tab visible on the web version and found as a line item under "Menu" on the app titled "USL" (Universal Scammer List). Our sub does not have permissions to add people to this list, but folks from other trading subs have, so it can be another tool to use when researching potential trades.
While we wish we could have a 100% success rate in preventing scammers from ever gaining access to our community, our next best option is to reduce the allure of our trades (no money) and offer a strategy that allows our members to reduce their personal risk.
We welcome you to share in the comments your personal methods! Let's learn from each other on how to create safer trades.

Looking to trade my student grade Cotman and Koi watercolors.
They are in pans and also the tubes. I used the tubes to refill the pans when they get low. These are only about a year old. Koi's are in the large pan, and Cotman are in the mint tin. Some extra koi pans are also in the plastic container, but they are repeats of what's in the larger black tin. Tubes are all in the big tin. The pans are all labeled.
It includes a shimmery gold color paint from Cotman.
Looking to trade for stuff like cute washi tape, vinyl stickers, unused 100% cotton watercolor paper, handmade paper, handmade journals, ceramic palette (white) or any color ceramic water cups.

Will trade my handmade mini leather covered watercolor journal for your unused paint pans/tubes!
The paper is sewn together first, then sewn into the leather cover.
I make them in Arches cold press 140lbs or Fabriano hot press 140 lbs.
Sizes when closed are about 1.5 X 1.5
The fabriano paper ones have a wrap around style with a built in elastic. But I can make the arches in that style as well.
I have black leather and greyish tan. Colors may vary a little.
(The white gel pen and little paint palette is only to show the scale).
Looking for watercolor paint:
Handmade watercolor paint or Daniel Smith, Da Vinci, Maimeri Blu, Mission gold, Schmincke, Rosa Gallery, White Nights, Mgraham, QOR, Roman Szmal, etc.
My favorite is any granulating kind, but I don't really like glittery/shimmery ones. (I mainly do landscapes).
(If you want to see a video of a flip through of one of my completed tiny Journals, I posted one in the watercolor101 community. )

I have some seasonal items to trade. Halloween 🎃 and Christmas. Items include:
* Sunny Vibes Bold & Easy Colouring Book Halloween theme "Sweet and Scary". Unused. Been stored at home condition
*Sunny Vibes Bold & Easy Colouring Book Christmas Theme "Snuggly Christmas". Unused. Been stored at home condition.
* Halloween Stickers (Pumpkins, Ghosts, Bats, Spider web) 2 sheets. Unused. Outer packaging messy pen marks but protects the new stickers inside the sleeve.
* Washi Tape. 5 Rolls including:
- Nutcracker Style with gold foil. 15 mm width
- Mermaid theme with silver foil. 15mm width
- Seven Dwarfs theme. 10mm width
- Halloween theme. 15mm width
- Woodland Animals theme. 15mm width.
Washi tapes have been used. Please see pictures to show dimensions of how much tape is left on the role. (15cm ruler placed as size guide.)
Washi tapes vary in thickness, so I have included measure of width of tape in mm and also cm in case my handwriting is bad!!
* Squishmallow Stickers. - These are kind of raised. I guess they may be referred to as puffy stickers.
Used pack. You get what is showing in the picture.
NB: Halloween stickers: these come in a cardboard sleeve. The cardboard sleeve packaging has some colouring marker pen marks on it as I was using it to catch bleed through from my colouring.
The Stickers inside are not affected. They haven't been used and I only took them out of the sleeve to take pictures, as you can see they're looking ok.
Please note: I have placed a 15cm ruler in the photos as a size guide. The ruler is NOT included.
I'm looking for UK to UK exchange please.
In return I could benefit from some patterned papers which I'd like to use for scrapbooking /journalling and or flat (2-D) stickers or some washi tapes as described below.
Styles I DON'T LIKE: No seasonal items (Halloween/ Christmas/ Easter (eg eggs), nor people nor animals. Hence why I am destashing my exchange items.
Other than that some pattern papers with shapes / florals / plants / scenery / landscape / geometric / stripes / inanimate objects- "things" etc are most welcome.
Washi tapes: would welcome plain solid coloured or plain ombre / gradient colours without pictures or print on them / OR any of the patterns described above. (Try me!)
I hope to put up more craft items for exchange very soon. Started with these as Halloween is around the corner. Please keep an eye out if you'd like me to bundle or mix / match items.
I have or can do some more photos if required.

I'm looking to trade for a crochet (or knit?) Pikmin or 2 for a loved one, and I'm also looking to trade for a crochet or knit beanie in the colors of the Calgary Flames hockey team.
In exchange I can make memo pads (designs I've made for loved ones and penpals shown in the first picture), or I could make a custom small to medium size cross stitch piece (the animal crossing piece is available, but feel free to lmk if there's a specific design you're looking for and if I can do it I'll let you know!) or I can make cute bookmark (with some examples in the last picture. All of those bookmarks have been given away to friends, but I can easily make similar ones, or custom ones)

Idk if the flair is right or if we are allowed to post swaps, so if it's not, just let me know.
I moved into a place that has a treasure trove of file cabinets and shelves full of old newspapers, sheet music, magazine cutouts, religious art, school papers, technical drawings, vintage catalogues, etc. Way more than any one person could use in a lifetime. I've recently gotten into paper crafts and would love to trade for other art supplies I don't have.
Looking for
- stamps & inks
- stencils
- fabric scraps
- patterned paper
- paints of any type, but really looking for gouache and acrylic colours I don't have
- alcohol inks
- stickers
- any kind of texture or mark making tools I can use with my gelli plate
- acrylic markers
Send me a DM or comment on this post and we can work out a deal. Let me know what type of stuff you're looking for that I might have in these stacks and stacks of stuff, and if I have it, I'll be happy to trade. Also let me know if there's something you absolutely don't want to get. US only.

I have officially given up and accepted that I will not be processing my own yarn. At the very least, if I decide to spin, I’ll use roving instead of carding my own wool.
To trade:
Carding combs
Drop whorl
Raw wool/alpaca at various stages. Some is clean and needs carding, some is roving and needs spinning, and some is pure raw alpaca that needs everything. I also have another bag somewhere that I cleaned and started the carding, but it seems to be hiding from me.
I also have some “unspun” wool that could either be knit as is, or used as a spinning base. The person I got that from was knitting it held double with some sparkly yarn, and it makes a pretty, plush fabric.
I am pretty open to trade. I can trade it all in one, or split into smaller lots. I love ceramics, stained glass, vintage stuff, anything Halloween/fall themed. Just ask and I’ll let you know if I am interested.
