I am fighting a pretty intense war against Lafayette and was so excited to capture Rouen. Only to realize that there are 2 Rouen apparently??????? And even though I captured all the district in the "small Rouen", I still couldn't capture the city itself. Do I need to capture every single district under "big Rouen" too? Does this work if I rename all my cities to the same name too?

I am actually mad confuse and have so many questions. Is there a hidden game mechanic I am not aware of? Btw bonus battle of the giants in the 2nd screenshot. It was very sweaty as Lafayette came knocking on my door with that kind of cavalry.

EDIT: I found the culprit y'alll! There was a Motte/Bailey district (where the enemy Level 1 Commander at) and after I captured it, the city flipped over!

VII - Discussion Unique endeavor idea: Border dispute

You should be able to buy neighboring tiles from other civs if they fit within your own cities borders. Just a thought:

Costs a lot of Influence to initiate. Result depends on what the AI chooses;

Support: they get half of the influence paid by the opposing civ, the other half is refunded to you.

Accept: also free, they receive nothing and you get no refund.

Reject: cost a certain amount of influence to reject the attempt.

If the AI picks support or accept you can then pick a tile. Perhaps it should work the other way around too, but that might get annoying.

V - Other Is there any mods for Civ V that increase research time but keep production as is?

Finding that everyone including me are running away with science on sapiens. Is there a way to balance science increase research time but keeping production as is? I’m finding I’m researching techs faster than I can build the buildings for those techs.

VI - Discussion My first domination victory in a standard game. Why tf is this so addictive?

Started playing Civ6 for the first time this month and can't stop playing it, it's so addictive and weird at the same time. I never imagined myself to be just clicking on random stuff for hours. Also being a developer, that urge to understand the decision making and the mechanics is too much to handle, I find myself watching youtube videos about civ for hours. Help!

Question Civ 7: Why cant I build unique quarter here?

Post image

Heya,

I've build Pyramids - Colossus and want to build the Egypt unique quarter where I've planned.

But I cant, how come? I thought Wonders acted as a connector to build Urban districts...

Sorry for the horrible colors of the image, thankfully the colors are better on my screen.

VII - Discussion Envisioning Atomic Age Civ: Brazil

Don't worry! I think an Exploration Portugal and Modern Empire of Brazil might be in the cards for Earthrise focusing more on marine and vegetated/tropical terrain respectively.

Republic of Brazil

Diplomatic/Expansionist

Ability: Nova Republica – Increased Appeal on Vegetated tiles. Quarters gain Happiness per Age if adjacent to a Vegetated Tile.(Tourism from Vegetated tiles in the Atomic Age)

Traditions: Focuses on ways to bolster towns and cities with food, influence and appeal based yields.

Unique Infrastructure: Balneario – A title improvement. Happiness base. Must be Adjacent to Coast.

Unique Civilian Unit: ???

Unique Military Unit: Guarani (Replaces the Atomic Age Mechanized Infantry Unit) – increased Combat Strength in friendly territory; has Amphibious keyword

Associated Wonder: Estadio do Maracana – Adds Happiness on Quarters in this Settlement. Gains Tourism based on Appeal on tiles in this Settlement.

Rationale

Before you ask, I’d give the Jesus statue to Imperial Brazil which I’d probably put in Earthrise with more dynamics regarding vegetated terrain. It's also more fitting there.

This is more “Civ 6 Brazil” in many respects, but I also realized how they stretched a lot of stuff when coming up with that iteration. It’s possible we only get one Brazil, so I wanted it to make a decent splash while leaving room for a second rendition.

I really wanted a Civ to play with Appeal and there's like no real benefit to appeal outside of Happiness and like two other Civs. And yes, I do love the Diplomatic/Expansionist label a bit but that's because I see them as the "generalist" Civ. This Civ is basically the always Happy Civ in essence, so you can go wide or specialist crazy.

I had no idea for civilian units here. I lost all steam after the unique Film Directors and the Soviet unique Migrant unit. I would feel bad to give any one a unique Settler as I find the ones even in Modern to just be weird since the map tends to be quite full.

How would you implement Brazil, especially if we get two of them? Or would you go for a different Latin/South American choice? Any ideas for civilian units?

I am trying to trigger each of these quests in Antiquity (and later Exploration) to earn the XP so that I can finally get level 8 on Ed.

THE OUTLINES OF A PLAN

THE BLACKEST OF BEARDS

THE SEA-PIRATE CODE

ADMIRAL OF THE BLACK

ADMIRAL OF THE BLUE

Any hints are welcome.

Does anybody know of a mod that hides the boarder colors that appear over water in the minimap? It makes it basically useless in late game because of how blobby all the boarders get.

VII - Discussion Are some games unwinnable?

I don't know why, but when I lose a game of Civ 7 I get really annoyed, as if that should just never happen. I'm conscious that I'm possibly being unrealistic here. Is it actually the case that some games simply end up, or perhaps even start, as being unwinnable? Should I be more accepting of losing, and just accept that you can't win them all?

VII - Discussion How predictable is resource shuffling across ages?

Placement of resources on the map massively informs city center placement, and it sucks having all that decision making go to waste when you go from Antiquity to Exploration and you suddenly don't have as many resources to contribute to adjacency bonuses (Especially when you can't move specialists!). Are there any predictable resource transitions? i.e. do Hides in Antiquity always become Furs in Exploration, or Iron always becomes Niter, or something along those lines? Are there any resources that ALWAYS get converted to empty tiles? I'm aware there are resources like ivory that persist across ages, but most resources are era-specific.

VII - Discussion The way that importing saved setting is now is still unacceptable

The fact that it saves everything. From which leader/civ combo you had when you initially saved it, to the game and map seed, to the DLCs you had enabled!!

The DLCs is especially egregious because you can't edit that once you press new game, and have to go back out to the main menu and reenter the new game screen to get all your DLCs back.

At this point, it might just be faster to go through every setting every time (especially if you don't change that much) instead of making sure the imported settings has all your DLCs, needing to go back through 4 menus to reselect your leader and civs, and typing randomly into the seeds to make it a new map.

It's still crazy something this anti-QoL still exists almost 2 years into development. I still love this game, and have a lot of passion for it; but good golly is something like this insane to have to deal with still.

VII - Discussion Envisioning Atomic Age Civ: Egypt + a Leader

Egypt today, Brazil tomorrow.

I think a Modern rendition of Egypt is more than warranted, imo. There are plenty of other options, but this at least fits in with the non-Test of Time model as well. But first...

Pharaonic Egypt

Was tempted to keep the name for the current version in the game and likely will, so I shifted the focus of an Atomic Age Egypt to the United Arab Republic.

United Arab Republic of Egypt

Diplomatic/Economic

Ability: Nahda – Gains +20 Relationship with all leaders. +1 Resource Capacity in Cities per Civilization you are allied with.

*Named to not call it Pan-Arabism and a lot of this is based on Nasser

Traditions: Focuses on production towards Gold and DiplomacyBuildings, Production from Minor Rivers, production towardsmilitary units, and Trade Route bonuses.

Unique Infrastructure: ???

Unique Civilian Unit: Mukhrija – (Replaces the Film Director) Generates Gold based on quality of Great Work.

Unique Military Unit: ???

Associated Wonder: Mogamma – +1 Social Policy Slot. Increased Tourism from Celebrations.

*A little outside of the timeframe, but I also wanted to not have a bunch of “Towers” and repeat visuals.

Rationale

Hey, I gave them an out by calling this the Arab Republic, but I’d really like Egypt to be more recognized for more than its Antiquity heyday. This is somewhat mostly just Nasser in civ form as for the Leader.

I do need ideas for the unique infrastructure and military unit.

Rawya Ateya

Diplomatic/Expansionist

Ability: ???? – Gains a % percentage bonus towards producing Buildings for each Civilization she’s allied to. Gains Influence and Happiness per Age (empire-wide) for each leader she’sFriendly or Helpful with. Double, if Allied.

Agenda: ???? - Likes those with the most Allies. Tries to do the same.

*Speculated leader and like the civ, it’s basically a Nasser inspired pair with synergy with Hatsheput and Pharaonic Egypt. It's a strange choice of a Leader, but I'm working off of that stuff, so it's not a pick that I made myself. I also wanted to give Alliances another Leader that interacts with that and I assume they'll get updated eventually.

How'd you envision a Modern Egypt? Any ideas for infrastructure or units? Have any alternative picks for the Middle Eastern/Islamic world pick for the upcoming Atomic Age major update?

VI - Other [Civ6] How to add mods to an existing config?

I have a configuration saved and now I want to start a new custom game with this config but with one additional mod. I activate the mod as usual and when I setup a new game I can pick the civ added by this mod. But when I load my config I can’t pick this civ anymore. I guess the modlist is saved with the config? But how do I add a mod to a saved config? Or do I have to do all the settings from scratch again?
