Question Any ideas on how to create this effect?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi all, anyone see a way to create this effect using Mograph or the like? It does not need to be exact but similar with the geometry popping on and sliding around. I would also like to include the lattice work as in the example. Anyone know where Grid Array went in v.2026? This will also need to include an animated texture transition. Thanks in advance!

Cinema 4D GPU memory usage at startup – could you help me test something?
Hey everyone!
I'm trying to investigate something I've been noticing for years with Cinema 4D, and I'd really appreciate a quick comparison with other systems.
I'm currently using Cinema 4D 2026.4 on Windows 11 with an RTX 5090 (32 GB VRAM).
Cinema 4D allocates approximately 3.5 GB of dedicated GPU memory immediately at startup, even with a completely empty scene and no rendering running.
I've already tested it without third-party plugins, including Octane, with freshly reset preferences and with viewport effects disabled. The baseline remains around 3.3–3.4 GB.
For comparison, Octane Standalone uses approximately 500 MB before rendering.
I contacted Maxon Support, and they told me that Cinema 4D should normally use around 0.8–1.4 GB of VRAM at startup under default conditions.
I remember seeing similar behavior years ago with different GPUs and older Cinema 4D versions.
Could you check something on your system?
Launch Cinema 4D with a completely empty scene, without starting any renderer.
Wait until startup and background initialization are complete.
Open Windows Task Manager → Details and check Dedicated GPU memory for Cinema 4D.exe.
Please also share your Cinema 4D version, GPU model and total VRAM capacity.
I'm trying to figure out whether this is specific to my configuration or a more widespread behavior affecting Cinema 4D users.
Thanks a lot to anyone willing to spend a minute checking this! 🙂

Volume Builder/Mesher for the blobs. Fields driving vertex maps into one shader for the color blending.

Schoolwork Dead head cuckoo clock! (Sound on!)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This was my second ever animation in Cinema 4D, and the reintroduction to C4D through my university mograph class as we hadn’t used it since last year. The assignment was to make a cuckoo clock, or something equivalent.
I’m about 60% happy with how this turned out. I had a lot more stuff (additional wires, hair objects, videos on the screens, brighter lights) but I had to cut it because it was taking 30 minutes per frame to render. The university computers need their GPUs updated so Redshift ran extra slow on them. I do like how my animation turned out though, I’m especially proud of the tongue.
I had about two weeks to finish this, most of it was spent researching methods to animate my different objects though. I certainly learned a lot.

Solved Extrude and Boole not 'activate' correctly but render fine
Hello all - TIA!
I currently have a §C4D 2025 file where the object I've created is a pill shape (spline) then I've extruded it to make a table. In the viewport the object just looks like a rectangle with no curve edges but when I action a render region via the viewport it looks what it suppose to be.
And that also goes with the Boole on the back wall, you can see in viewport it just looks like 2 rectangle on the wall with no cutting into the wall so it's not enabled in viewport. When it renders it booles out.
I wonder if I've accidentally clicked something that disabled the generators in the viewport specifically in this file?

Posted it on sns and got barely any engagement compared to my old work. Honestly its pretty fucking discouraging. Has the kind of work people respond to changed or is this piece just not landing? Curious to hear your honest thoughts

Do you think Maxon changes its pricing if c4d gets cloned?
With the Adobe/Artcraft cloned apps (despite their glitches for now), do we suddenly get an indie license rate (you’ve been asking for an indie rate and we listened…).
The no. 1 repository on GitHub today is an add on to ai coding agents to take any software and reverse engineer it. I would imagine it won’t be long before someone takes initiative to reverse engineer C4D/redshift/octane etc. I’m not advocating for it because at the end of the day the people doing the day to day work will lose their jobs.
Just curious to know what people think will happen.

Question Help plz. 2 hours trying to figure out how to do this angle bar across my cubes
i tried sweep with the l shape spline but the angel is not consistently pointed toward inner
. i can separate each spline line and make its own sweep from it but it will take ages and will complicate the project

Question Rigging?!
Hei guys, so im genuinely frustrated here. I really want to go more deeply into rigging and idk how to aproach this:
When i look into the blender side - u have so many solutions and tools for rigging is crazy cool
When i look into maya side - advance skeleton and other rig solution - also really cool stuff
Then cinema…like i feel like a cave man putting together rocks
………
What you recommend? Should i go to blender for rig? Should i go to maya?
What pluggins? What solutions do you guys use?
In the past i did riggs in maya and/or unreal
I will add - i want to do full body and face riggs + blendshapes
Thanks!!

Schoolwork Help with Pelvis on block guy rig
Looking for advice on what shape I can use, I don’t want it to be too complicated but am not sure if just attaching legs to the bottom will bend the pelvis block horribly

Redshift From a light strip to a floating waveform — an 8-second loop in Cinema 4D
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It all started with a static reference of a music controller. As the project developed, a simple light strip turned into a glowing 3D waveform that lifts off the surface.
Made in Cinema 4D, rendered with Redshift. AI helped edit the scene through MCP. I set the visual direction and reviewed each iteration, while AI helped build and refine the geometry, materials, and animation.
There was some backtracking along the way. One attempt to bring the housing closer to the reference distorted the geometry, so I had to revert to an earlier version. After that, it was all about the details: toning down the secondary icons, softening the highlight on PLAY, and smoothing out the waveform’s rise and fall.
The waveform itself is an animated spline with a Sweep, so its shape and motion can be adjusted directly in the scene.
What do you think?

Xpresso reimagined
I’ve been working on this project for more than since 2020 on and off while I was learning C4D API.
It all started when I was annoyed with Octane material building manually, after that every time I’m frustrated with UX I try and find the way to elevate the workflow 😅
A week or so I figured out how RS injects Qt into native C4D UI and decided to give my Xpresso Mirror a go another time.
And… it works! It’s a headless node framework that works using Xpresso data inside the tag.
Still plugin has a long way to go, but I think community deserves a free Xpresso Node Editor alternative.
So far it mirrors the node editor data, nodes can be created, connected, repositioned and it fetches the attributes automatically. Attribute data can be changed inside the new node editor and it updates the Xpresso setup without any issues!
As for the workflow, I’m trying to use Houdini as the best way to handle node editing.
If you have any desired UX features inside the editor I’ll gladly take a note.
No AI, just pure rage from working with Xpresso.

Why does my IPR look so grainy? And why does it run so slow? Is there any way to reduce the grain to make the image not look like a glitter bomb?

Atlas by Skinarma - Recent work I made with Cinema4D and Redshift
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone! Happy to share my recent work done for a case built for the iPhone 18 Pro. This has been both enjoyable and challenging to create–it was a great amount of work to churn out solo within a rather short timeframe, but I’m quite glad with how everything turned out.
I share more about my process on Behance!
If you’re interested to see more works from me, here’s my Instagram, cheers!

C4D+Claude vs GreyScaleGorilla
For clarity: I hate the use of AI on the creative side of 3D. I'm talking about solely from a 'making small tools to ease the process of repetitive tasks' side of things.
For a while now, I've felt that whilst GSG's material packs are very solid and used by quite a few of the big names in Patreon (which is probably therefore indicative of how many of the top studios take that approach), the 'plugins' side of thing has always been a bit lacking. Social crops, light managers, alignment tools, etc, were all pretty basic, and can now all be done with a few swings via Claude, so do you think that side of their business is a bit.... screwed?
