Question Any ideas on how to create this effect?

Hi all, anyone see a way to create this effect using Mograph or the like? It does not need to be exact but similar with the geometry popping on and sliding around. I would also like to include the lattice work as in the example. Anyone know where Grid Array went in v.2026? This will also need to include an animated texture transition. Thanks in advance!

Lowpoly 80s-90s workhorse cars in C4D

Been modeling a whole fleet of 80s–90s everyday workhorse cars in Cinema 4D for a driving game I’m building solo — vans, boxy taxis, buses. I tweaked the phong angle to achieve crips folding lines while having the windshield smooth like paper models.

Posted it on sns and got barely any engagement compared to my old work. Honestly its pretty fucking discouraging. Has the kind of work people respond to changed or is this piece just not landing? Curious to hear your honest thoughts

Cinema 4D GPU memory usage at startup – could you help me test something?

Hey everyone!

I'm trying to investigate something I've been noticing for years with Cinema 4D, and I'd really appreciate a quick comparison with other systems.

I'm currently using Cinema 4D 2026.4 on Windows 11 with an RTX 5090 (32 GB VRAM).

Cinema 4D allocates approximately 3.5 GB of dedicated GPU memory immediately at startup, even with a completely empty scene and no rendering running.

I've already tested it without third-party plugins, including Octane, with freshly reset preferences and with viewport effects disabled. The baseline remains around 3.3–3.4 GB.

For comparison, Octane Standalone uses approximately 500 MB before rendering.

I contacted Maxon Support, and they told me that Cinema 4D should normally use around 0.8–1.4 GB of VRAM at startup under default conditions.

I remember seeing similar behavior years ago with different GPUs and older Cinema 4D versions.

Could you check something on your system?

Launch Cinema 4D with a completely empty scene, without starting any renderer.

Wait until startup and background initialization are complete.

Open Windows Task Manager → Details and check Dedicated GPU memory for Cinema 4D.exe.

Please also share your Cinema 4D version, GPU model and total VRAM capacity.

I'm trying to figure out whether this is specific to my configuration or a more widespread behavior affecting Cinema 4D users.

Thanks a lot to anyone willing to spend a minute checking this! 🙂
