Does anyone else use the lowest temperature setting on their Chilipad 1.0?

• Upvotes

I have had my Chilipad 1.0 for a little over a year and have pretty much always kept it on the lowest temperature setting and even then I don’t feel like it’s as cold as I would like for 55. I’m not sure if I just run hot or if it’s common for other users to have it set to the lowest temperature. Im curious what temperatures others usually have theirs set to and what temperature you feel is too cold.

Chilipad 1.0 water consumption

• Upvotes

How much water is your Chilipad 1.0 or 2.0 using? I have mine cooled to the lowest setting and even then it doesn’t feel cool enough after a few minutes but it will go through a full water refill in 1-3 days. I have checked all around and there are no leaks anywhere but I really didn’t expect it to use this much water. No residual moisture on the sheets so it doesn’t seem like it’s condensing on the outside but where else would it be going? Maybe that much is normal at this temperature?

HSA/FSA update: we now use Truemed, here's how it works

Quick update for anyone planning to use HSA or FSA funds: we've changed providers and now work with Truemed for HSA/FSA payments.

You pick Truemed at checkout, answer a short health questionnaire, and if you qualify, a licensed practitioner issues a Letter of Medical Necessity so the purchase can go through your HSA or FSA with pre-tax dollars. Eligibility still depends on that review and on your plan, so it isn't automatic for everyone, and tax savings vary (details at truemed.com/disclosures).

If anything at checkout is confusing, drop it here so we can fix it for the next person.

Has anyone here already been through the Truemed flow?

Chilipad died

Post image
4 Upvotes

We have had our Chilipad for about a year and half. Last night we went to bed and the chilipad blew up and started leaking hot water everywhere.

I sent this photo to their help email account and they told me it was out of warranty. We spent over $2,000 on this system. What a ripoff Has anyone had the same problem?

Cooling mattress pad vs. cooling mattress vs. just cranking the AC: what actually pulls heat out of the bed??

A lot of people land here trying to sort out the difference, so here's a plain breakdown of what actually cools you at night and where each option fits. A fan or AC cools the air in the room, not the bed. That helps by evaporating sweat off your skin, but it doesn't pull heat out of the mattress, which is where a lot of us trap it.

Cooling sheets and foams feel cool for the first minute, then warm up to body temp and stay there. Active cooling works differently.

With a Chilipad, water runs through a thin pad under your cover, and the unit heats or cools that water to hold a set temperature all night. So instead of cooling the room and hoping, you're pulling heat directly off the surface you sleep on. Dual zone means each side can run at its own temperature, which is the fix if you and your partner never agree. Honest tradeoffs: you need space for a control unit, and it's a bigger spend than sheets.

Worth it if you sleep hot, deal with night sweats, or share a bed with someone on a different thermostat.

Happy to answer questions.

AI Sleep Tracker going away?

I commented on a post a short while back and someone from Chilipad replied that the sleep tracker pad which allows the Chilipad to auto adjust the tempererature is being discontinued. Does anyone have further information on this? If this isn't supported going forward the Chilipad loses a lot of luster for me. I am perimenopausal and the auto adjustments while I'm asleep have been a major game changer for my sleep.

How does dual-zone actually work if my partner and I sleep at different temperatures?

Processing img hj3ram5vmklh1...

Dual-zone is actually pretty simple: each side of the bed has its own Dock, with its
own water connection and temperature control. So the two sides operate independently.

That means you can have your side at 60°F while your partner has theirs at 80°F, without
averaging or compromising on a middle temperature.
Each person can also control and schedule their side separately.

Basically, think of it as two independent Chilipad systems sharing one mattress pad.

How is everyone's Chilipad handling the current heat wave?

August heat can make sleep a whole different experience, 🥵 especially when the bedroom stays warm well into the night.
Curious how everyone’s Chilipad has been handling the heat lately.

Have you changed your usual sleep temperature this summer, or are you running the same settings year-round?

If this is your first summer with Chilipad, how’s it going so far?

Has anyone gifted a Chilipad to a family member? How did you make the price make sense to them?

Curious about this because it comes up around the holidays and again right before summer, people wanting to get one for a parent or a partner who complains about the heat every single night. The price is the obvious hurdle since it's not a casual gift, so wondering what actually worked, framing it as a shared thing, splitting the cost, just surprising them and hoping it landed. Did it actually get used the way you hoped once they had it, or did enthusiasm fade after the first week?

Chilipad 2.0 vs the old 1.0, what actually changed?

Here's the plain comparison:
The Chilipad 2.0 is the current generation: quieter operation, more consistent cooling, and a nicer day-to-day experience including a nightstand remote. If you're on a 1.0, the things you know and love about it we kept, and we improved the stuff that was bugging customers, like modularity and comfort.

So if you already own a 1.0 that's working for you, you're in good shape.
And if you're buying now, the 2.0 is the one to get.

Sleeping cool is worth it, right?

New Chilipad 2.0 owner first-night setup: pick a starting temp

First of all - congrats on the new setup!

A few things make the first night much better.

One heads-up: the S-hooks can be easy to miss, they're tucked in the Hydrolayer's packaging bag, so grab those when you attach the Hydrolayer.

For temperature, a trick some owners like: get in while the bed's a little warm (85F), then let it drop to the 60sF.

Download the app to setup a sleep schedule - it guides you through the process.
Helps sleeping at different temps so you fall asleep cozy, stay cool overnight, and can even warm up to wake you up.

For current step-by-step guidance, check sleep.me/getting-started (2.0 model).

What temp did everyone land on for night one??

Does it actually cool in a warm room with no AC? (model matters)

Thumbnail sleep.me
3 Upvotes

Honest answer because it saves endless research: these pull heat out of the bed, they do not cool the room, so room temperature matters. The older Cube struggles in a genuinely hot, no-AC bedroom.

The newer Chilipad 2.0 holds up much better in warm rooms, so if that is your situation the model you choose makes the difference.

Either way the trial period exists exactly so you can test it in your real bedroom. If you sleep somewhere hot with no AC, has the 2.0 worked for anyone in that setup?

Athletes/lifters: what temp are you running for recovery nights?

For the owners who train, sharing how I think about temp on hard days.

Deep sleep is when most tissue repair and growth hormone release happens, and you get more of it when your core temp drops, so on heavy training nights I run a little cooler to protect that window. No magic number, it interacts with your room and bedding, but cooler-than-usual on recovery nights has helped my soreness and morning readiness.

Curious what the athletes here do, do you adjust your set temp around training load, and have you noticed it in your recovery scores?

One of us runs hot, the other freezes, how did you set your two sides?

This is the exact problem dual zone solves, so sharing our setup. I run hot and keep my side in the upper 50s F; my partner runs cold and keeps theirs warm, sometimes on heating in winter. No more thermostat war, no more stealing blankets. The trick was each of us dialing in our own side over a week rather than guessing once. If you are single-zone it only covers one side, so for mismatched couples the dual-zone is the move. Mismatched couples, what two temps did you settle on?

Why is there no Watch app?

This kills me. Having a watch app is a no-brainer. Nobody wants to look at their phone in bed. I coded one myself in 10 minutes using Opus. But I have to pay $99 developer subscription per year just to use it. SleepMe, what the heck? Why is there no watch companion app that makes temp adjust easy?

Cube vs Chilipad 2.0, which should a new buyer get?

Stuck between them? Here is the plain version from our team:

If you just want a cooled bed and want the lowest price, the Cube still does the job. It's a pretty simple system though. No app, no automations, a little louder, and it doesn't cool as low (60°F minimum). The Chilipad 2.0 is the newer, more capable system, quieter, more even cooling, with a nightstand remote, at a higher price.

One honest caveat: the Cube struggles in genuinely hot, no-AC rooms, while the 2.0 holds up better in tougher conditions. Match it to your room and budget.

Owners, which did you pick and why?
