Chinese teacher in Christchurch
Hi there!
I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good Chinese teachers in Christchurch?
I am looking for a private teacher, I am a non-native speaker around intermediate level (I passed my HSK 4 last year but my speaking and writing isn't as good.)
Thanks!

moving to chch Moving from wellington
I will be moving to christchurch from wellington next year along with my partner and a friend. Does anyone who has done the move before have a shipping/moving company they'd recommend? Would be nice to get an estimate of cost, and any other general advice as this as Its my first time moving cities. We will be moving around 2 rooms worth of stuff, pretty light on furniture but lots of fragile things such as warhammer and music equipment. TIA!

News - Local Rolleston town centre to expand, with city of 50,000 expected within a decade
Summary:
Selwyn District Council has confirmed the next stage of Rolleston's town centre development, which includes two new blocks of commercial buildings in Rolleston Fields and a town square between the precinct, Te Ara Ātea and Rolleston Reserve. Construction of the buildings is expected to begin in February, with completion planned between August and December 2027, after the project was paused in 2024 due to economic conditions. The council will seek public input on the town square's design and uses next year, and its cost is likely to be considered in the long-term plan. Rolleston is expected to become a city, with a population of more than 50,000, within the next 10 years.
Some of the comments in the article kind of suggest a low-density, campus-like environment rather than a proper dense CBD. Hopefully it will be more like the three-storey commercial and office precinct in Frankton near Queenstown, rather than some of the badly thought-out local post-earthquake urban design.
Plus, it's interesting that the Selwyn Council is finally properly admitting that the population growth rate is currently at a minimum of 16,000 every 10 years.

Drexels or Denny’s? (Or other?)
I love going to drexels, haven’t been in a few years because the last time I went it wasn’t anywhere near as good, I remember the hash brown being a let down and the pancakes being a bit “meh” as always the toast was amazing.
I’ve recently been to Denny’s in Auckland and it was like drexels of old. So there’s my question. Is nostalgia getting me or is drexels actually better than Denny’s?

Best beauty supply shops?
Hello, curly haired girl here looking for cosmetic, hair, and beauty spots that have lots and lots of skincare and hair care products. Preferably with some clean beauty lines and organic ingredient lines. Need like the sulfate free type curly shampoos to sort out the frizz in this weather. Or are there any local brands I should support or look into?
Does anyone have reccs on the best selections for higher end hair and beauty product shopping options? Thank you!

Inverse Psoriasis ? - Anyone have a specialist to recommend?
I’m 44F. I have private insurance but my GP says it’s impossible to get a dermatologist in Chch. Declined public. GP tries to support but it’s a sensitive area and we don’t 100% know what’s going on.
I am diagnosed and treated for inflammatory arthritis but my Rhuematologist doesn’t treat this and also said probably no chance of getting a dermatologist appointment.
Would be grateful for suggestions if anyone has a local provider they would recommend. Doesn’t have to be a dermatologist. But, want someone with true diagnostic and treatment experience.

Builder recommendations for moisture damage repair
Good morning all,
Can someone recommend me experienced builders for repairing moisture damage to my dry wall (and probably structures beyond) please? I think it’s coming from outside the house (not near plumbing).
Thank you in advance 🙏

How is everyone getting to/from work lately?
Many of my work colleagues are getting to work late, especially this week with Selwyn St closed off, and even if they leave home 30 minutes earlier than normal they are still late. Some are taking almost 90 minutes to get home on a drive that used to take 20 minutes. I walk to and from work so I don't see everything going on but I hear you can't go anywhere without roadworks atm. There must be so many cars just sitting idling. I don't see how this is a good idea. All it is doing is burning fuel for nothing. Why is everything being done at once and why are main streets being closed for months at a time?
Edit. Please stop asking me to bike. I prefer walking. It's more enjoyable for me as I can listen to music and game.
