Just got on the bus. (Feels like being back in Scotland, without the decay). Is all public transport like this?

Drexels or Denny’s? (Or other?)

I love going to drexels, haven’t been in a few years because the last time I went it wasn’t anywhere near as good, I remember the hash brown being a let down and the pancakes being a bit “meh” as always the toast was amazing.

I’ve recently been to Denny’s in Auckland and it was like drexels of old. So there’s my question. Is nostalgia getting me or is drexels actually better than Denny’s?

moving to chch Moving from wellington

I will be moving to christchurch from wellington next year along with my partner and a friend. Does anyone who has done the move before have a shipping/moving company they'd recommend? Would be nice to get an estimate of cost, and any other general advice as this as Its my first time moving cities. We will be moving around 2 rooms worth of stuff, pretty light on furniture but lots of fragile things such as warhammer and music equipment. TIA!

Best beauty supply shops?

Hello, curly haired girl here looking for cosmetic, hair, and beauty spots that have lots and lots of skincare and hair care products. Preferably with some clean beauty lines and organic ingredient lines. Need like the sulfate free type curly shampoos to sort out the frizz in this weather. Or are there any local brands I should support or look into?

Does anyone have reccs on the best selections for higher end hair and beauty product shopping options? Thank you!

News - Local Rolleston town centre to expand, with city of 50,000 expected within a decade

Summary:

Selwyn District Council has confirmed the next stage of Rolleston's town centre development, which includes two new blocks of commercial buildings in Rolleston Fields and a town square between the precinct, Te Ara Ātea and Rolleston Reserve. Construction of the buildings is expected to begin in February, with completion planned between August and December 2027, after the project was paused in 2024 due to economic conditions. The council will seek public input on the town square's design and uses next year, and its cost is likely to be considered in the long-term plan. Rolleston is expected to become a city, with a population of more than 50,000, within the next 10 years.

Some of the comments in the article kind of suggest a low-density, campus-like environment rather than a proper dense CBD. Hopefully it will be more like the three-storey commercial and office precinct in Frankton near Queenstown, rather than some of the badly thought-out local post-earthquake urban design.

Plus, it's interesting that the Selwyn Council is finally properly admitting that the population growth rate is currently at a minimum of 16,000 every 10 years.

Chinese teacher in Christchurch

Hi there!

I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good Chinese teachers in Christchurch?

I am looking for a private teacher, I am a non-native speaker around intermediate level (I passed my HSK 4 last year but my speaking and writing isn't as good.)

Thanks!
