This is Fitz. He came to us about a year ago when he and a female kitten ran up to my husband and his buddies at the park one afternoon. It was gonna get cold so they came to stay with us and are our cats now. (Yes, we checked for a chip and tried to locate anyone missing them. They appear to have been dumped. )
Since then, we've had him neutered, shots, and on a wellness plan at banfield. He's a sweet boy, but it seems he might be having trouble moving past his food insecurity. He's hungry all the time. We feed him 3 times a day, a total of 1 1/2 cups of Performatrin Ultra weight control dry food (our older cat has been eating it already so that's what he has been getting). He scarfs down his food, then goes and tries to eat the other cat's food like a bully. We do our best to police him, lol, which means we have to monitor feeding time. If the other two cats don't finish, we just have to put it somewhere Fitz can't get to. We have to do this with the dog's food too. He'll pretty much eat anything he can.
Over the weekend, Fitz had to be hospitalized for a urinary blockage. He came home with prescription food and medications. He seems even hungrier now, maybe a side effect of the mess, and also super clingy.
He's overweight in spite of our efforts. Still, I don't want him to be always hungry. I've had cats my entire life and I don't know how to help him.
For context, we have two other cats including the one he was with when he approached my husband and a dog. They are all female. The dog was a puppy when we first got her and isn't fazed by cats. Thanks, sorry this is long.
