Hey everyone,
I recently got a Casio A168 and honestly, I
love the look and retro vibe of this watch... but the stock bracelet is absolutely brutal on my arm hair. It feels like a mini epilator pulling hair with every slight wrist movement, and it's driving me crazy!
Is there any quick trick or fix to stop it from pulling hair, or am I better off swapping the bracelet?
If I can't figure out a good solution, I'm planning to return it tomorrow. Would love to hear if anyone has managed to solve this or if you replaced the strap with something that keeps the vintage look

Check out this video of me playing around with the KX-101, a crazy gadget Casio announced in 1983 and released in 1984! I’ve also included a vintage brochure from back in the day.
The video covers everything from the static-filled sound of the radio to actually playing melodies on the built-in keyboard.
A cassette player, radio, and synthesizer all rolled into one. There’s something incredibly charming about this era of gadgets, when manufacturers tried to cram absolutely everything into a single machine. You just don’t see that kind of magic in modern devices anymore!
The auction listing said the sound was so quiet it was almost impossible to hear, but it turns out this unit actually produces sound!
Man, this boombox is seriously cool!
The biggest bottleneck is my own ability to use it. This is exactly the kind of gadget I want to explore every last feature of… if only I knew how!
Anyway, I had GPT summarize the features listed in the original brochure.
Features Listed in the Brochure
Radio
Supports FM (76–108 MHz, wideband, including TV channels 1–3) and AM (525–1,605 kHz).
Equipped with a telescopic rod antenna for FM and a built-in ferrite bar antenna for AM.
Cassette Player
Full stereo recording and playback with a 4-track, 2-channel system.
Supports three types of cassette tapes: Normal, Chrome (CrO2), and Metal.
Packed with automatic playback and track-search features under the “Computer Play” system, including Intro, Jump, Repeat, Shuffle (digital tapes only), and Space Search.
Musical Instrument (Synthesizer / Keyboard)
Features a 37-key miniature keyboard (Type II) spanning 3 octaves, with up to 4-note polyphony.
Includes 9 preset instrument sounds, such as Piano, Harpsichord, Organ, and Flute, plus a Unison function.
Offers 12 automatic rhythms, ranging from Waltz, 8-Beat, Disco, and Samba to even Enka (traditional Japanese popular music)!
Can store up to 473 steps of chords and melodies, expandable to 985 steps with an optional RAM pack! It can even play back your programmed music automatically. Pretty high-tech stuff for the time!
Other Features
Equipped with two 10 cm speakers and two 3 cm tweeters, delivering 3W + 3W stereo output.
Includes microphone inputs, a mixing microphone input, and line input/output connections, allowing it to connect to other audio equipment.
Supports three power sources: AC power, eight D-cell batteries, or a car battery with an optional adapter.
Also features an automatic power-off function that shuts the unit down after approximately 12 minutes.
Seriously, Casio was making some absolutely wild stuff back then!

I noticed that checking for the hour on my phone was the starting point of many doomscrolling sessions.
So, I decided to nudge myself by buying a watch.
I knew nothing about watches.
Only bought a cheap wooden watch years ago for fun and almost never used it.
I wanted something simple, reliable, robust, not shiny, easily fixable, and not having to sell an organ to buy it.
My research quickly led me to a brand of calculators from my childhood that, if I recall correctly, also made watches (now I know it was the F-91W).
I started browsing on the brand's store and... damn... I want them all !
I absolutely love the g-shock serie and pro-trek. And apparently it's possible to customize them.
I'm going to spend too much time and money on this...
So, here is my first Casio watch, a DW-5600RL-1.
I replaced the strap with a lighter and more flexible model: https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B0GDXZ2ZPZ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Been using the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 for a while, but recently decided to try something simple.
Really liking the clean look of this watch, especially the white dial and black strap. It feels minimal. The only thing I'm a little unsure about is the size — it looks slightly small, especially since I'm used to wearing a smartwatch.

Pics in reverse order from after > before.
Was visiting my dad the other day when I spotted this SGW-1000 in his watch case. He told me it was his daily watch for years when he was a firefighter/paramedic, and that I could have it. Gave it a good scrub, fresh battery and she's good as new! All the sensors work too!

A168 and F105-W both modded with steel cases from SKX mod. Couldn't be happier with them honestly! I stuck to the OEM strap for the A168 and chose a SKMEI strap for the F105, im not 100% satisfied with how it sits though. Silver for leisure, black for work (dress code) Thoughts?

The Casio is keeping accurate time. Today, the Casio’s daily deviation is ±0 seconds. The Omega’s daily deviation is +10 seconds. The Casio has a list price of 4,000 yen, while the Omega’s is 400,000 yen. How is it possible that the Casio A159WA-N1JH—which costs one-hundredth the price of the Omega—keeps more accurate time?
